Hmmmm. Let's see. Yellow Submarine album cover by the Beatles; The state seal of Virginia; Time magazine cover of James Beck (Solicitor General for the US in 1923) who's last name happens to be Beck; Rolling Stones album cover "Exile on Main Street"; Ne (lit up, so it must be "ne-on"; Self portrait of Bob Dylan; Rolling Stone mag cover of Clapton; some guy in a "tinfoil hat" holding a book; and then the number 29. I haven't a clue! Actually - - - there's nine of them, but they make no sense to me. I sure wish I could've read it in the original!

    Song of the moment

Some of us on another site were/ are/ talking about "favorite first two lines in a song". My pick was an easy one. I've always loved laid back country with a whining pedal steel. Don Williams did a great job on this one - - - which I hadn't thought of for years, until the topic of favorite "first two lines of a song" came up for discussion. Coffee black, cigarettes, start this day, like all the rest <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
  3. And another thing that both bugs me, and begs the question - - - Where-the-hell-is-the FAMILY- during times of "trial and tribulation"??? The Bozos there at headquarters are surely quick enough to condemn, yet where is the "love", the "compassion", the "outreaching" to a person in need? Those folks wouldn't know a true need if it slapped them upside the head. Gotta luv the fact that they can condemn so quickly, while never offering help or assistance in anyway. As Ed Abbey once said: "I p!ss on them all from a very great height". And - - - this is for you who are still "in". You're welcome there at the Way as long as you suck the kool-aid, and hand over your cash. You'll get pious platitudes that mean nothing, when you really need help. When the "chips are down", believe me, it'll be chalked up to your "believing" and you won't have a friend at all where you might've thought you had many. Twi was never about "family". It was too full of itself to diversify.
  4. Jonny (ClayJay) had great advice. It's hard to believe jerks like this still exist. Tell the @$hole who sent you that letter to take a flying F### at a rolling doughnut. I find it amazing, that such ignorance can be so prevalent with "God's Chosen".
  5. Does the current head count include all the "skeletons in the closet"?

    Song of the moment

I'm not a real big fan of the blues . . . but that was TIGHT! Good stuff. As any musician/ picker can tell you - - when the mic is off and the tape isn't rolling, it's easier to play without worrying about hitting the notes "right on" for a recording. Those guys might've been "miffed" that they were recorded, but I bet they liked it when they heard it!
  13. based on what? What versions? Is there one bit of credibility to this claim? I found three clones of this web page.. and all they have is lamsa and pfal.. CES (STFI) did a good job of debunking docvic's "interpretation" of *Eli, Eli . . . * citing Psalm 22. They did NOT (however) address the East/West geographic split for bible sales that docvic claimed in pfal. It's been a coupla years since I went to any of the CES sites, and I see they have a lot on video now. Here's John S. doing the teaching on Eli, Eli. They used to have this in print. Now it's on video. Go figure. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

    Song of the moment

    I like the song "a little more upbeat". Here's Lonesome River Band's version. Please forgive Mike Hartgrove's (the fiddler) "dour" expression while playing. He habitually has a "dip in his lip" which doesn't work too well while picking fiddle! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

Thanks for the offer Mike, but I'll pass. I remember you telling me in the "old days" here at GSC in chat (when chat was a separate forum unto itself and independent of the regular forums) about the the CD compilations. If I recollect correct, I told you about Rev. Richter here in Minnesota, and you were able to get hold of him and talk about "Doctor's Last Teaching" (I think that's what you called it). Them were the days, eh? I've moved on in my life, Mike. God's Word is certainly important to me but these days (as I get older), I find it more and more important (to me), to consider any (and all) aspects of "religiosity" instead of just "One" such as we were presented with in twi via the class/ tapes/ magazines/ collaterals/ etc. Shucks. I've attended (since twi) Baptist congregations (several -- with other ex-twi folks who go there regularly)/ have gone to (several) "Community Churches" (evangelical leaning)/ Jewish Messianic congregations/ and Jehovah Witness' meetings as well. Did I learn "Total Truth" from any of them? No. Same as (imo) twi. BUT - - - did I learn SOMETHING FROM THEM? Yes, I did and from ALL of them. I've got to admit that the first time I walked into a church after leaving twi (I'm thinking it was one of the Baptist ones - - but I'm not sure now since that was two decades or so ago), I had my PFAL- colored glasses on BIG TIME, and was ready to critique and criticize dang near every verse and word the preacher at the podium said, just because I didn't "think he was gonna get it right". Well what do ya know. He "didn't get it right", but that was because of my "Way-Brain". I totally failed to hear the message (whatever it might have been back then), because I was so set on "PROVING HIM WRONG - - - courtesy of pfal and docvic's class". So - - - the upshot of this little diatribe here is nothing more than: Does ONE PERSON/ OUTFIT (RELIGION) hold the only truth? At the risk of sounding ignorant (I think this was an lcm'ism) - - - I think not. Here's a stow-ry for you (as Jonny Lingo used to say): As willing as I was to "prove that Baptist preacher wrong" (mentally), I was willing to do more than that (physically), when I was at a Jehovah Witness "Memorial Meeting" (their version of the Communion service). For those who don't know, the Jehovah Witnesses will "partake in communion" by passing both the plate and the cup without actually eating the "bread" or drinking the "wine". That privilege is reserved for the 144,000 only, and NO ONE in any local congregation considers themselves worthy of that honor. Well - - - I was dating an ex-JW lady at the time, she invited me to the service, and I went. When the plate was passed to me and she saw I was reaching for one of the wafers, I got a VERY HARD ELBOW jabbed into my ribs. I had a LOT OF LEARNING TO DO, AND REAL FAST! The upshot of all this is there's a buncha religious outfits out there that aLL CLAIM TO HAVE THE HANDLE ON "THE TRUTH". My contention is that none of them do, but I'm willing to concede that they've all tapped into parts of it. Same with Docvic, Mike. It's pretty apparent to me that he got most of his teaching stuff from others who'd done the research work before he did. Some truth? Yes. Total truth? No. Here's a song that kinda describes me. Perhaps it describes many of us, eh? <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

    PFAL 77

Hey there Mike! Long time no see. How's things out on the West Coast? Thanks for your comments about the meeting you were at. I'm pretty sure I have SNS tape #865 kicking around the house somewhere here. I'll see if I can roust it out, and give it a listen. Now - - - where did I leave my cassette tape player?? Oh yea! Right next to the 8-track tape player and the betamax video machine! Seriously - - - I'll see if I can't find the tape. I haven't listened to any of them for nigh on 20 years now. I wonder if they still work? Thanks to everyone else also (did I get the "ALSO" in the right place?) who took time to respond. It's appreciated. The only news we ever got about the "ministry" up here was heard third hand from others who had heard it second hand. Shucks - - it seems the further one was from the "seat of revelation", the less the "real" info was shared or known. Most of us who trekked on down from northern Minney-soda knew none of this until day 2 (or so) after being there.

    PFAL 77

TheHighWay, on 15 March 2010 - 06:10 AM, said: Twinky... I remember hearing that Craig started out teaching in front of a live (albeit silenced) audience and then decided to stop. Rather than detract from the threads about lcm's teaching "style", I was wondering something about PFAL 77 . I was there, and it was supposed to be a "re-make" of PFAL, but then that notion got shut down and we (the folks in attendance) were told that it was "just for us only". Anyone have a clue as to why this happened, or what the reasons for it were? If I recollect correct, docvic certainly DID look uncomfortable teaching PFAL in front of a live audience. Not that it matters, but I was curious about this after reading the other comments about "aborted classes".
  22. For an "outreach ministry" the Way sure is "selective", eh? I think I've mentioned this before, but about 3 years ago I was curious as to how twi was doing here in Minney-soda so I called New Knoxville. All I wanted was info if there was a local twig (no - - I wasn't interested in attending, just interested if there was still any in my area). The person there at the headquarters switchboard would give me NO info on the state/ area/ etc., she said they'd pass on my request to the area leader who would get back to me. 2 or 3 weeks later I got a letter (snail-mail) from the "area leader" that said a whole lot of nothing. No info about anything in my area, but a lot about what twi (prevailing some-such-BS-over-the-world) was doing with no reference to any of my questions. I called headquarters with a specific request. I got an ambiguous reply. Then I got a form letter from someone that I could've been told about in the initial phone call (but wasn't). Does "peeling an onion's layers" come to mind to you like it does to me?? If there is another group out there who has a greater DISCONNECT with the "audience" they seek, I surely don't know who it could be. Well - - - I take that last sentence back. CES/STFI is right up there too. Save your money, Gen. Buy something worthwhile for yourself rather than paying for worthless words from a demented outfit. You'll be glad you did. :) (edited to add the STFI after CES)

    Song of the moment

Mstar - - - Here's hoping you had a great time at Sam's concert tonight. He is the consummate musician. I'm sure you heard a VERY GOOD concert tonight, BUT I WISH YOU COULD HAVE HEARD IT IN THE ORIGINAL!!! Sam surrounds himself with pickers who never hit a wrong note/ look great on stage/ and entertain the audience beyond their wildest dreams. I had the fortune to "hang out" with the original New Grass Revival back in the early 1970's when they came to town (back in Indiana) to put on concerts. Wait - - - I take that back. It wasn't the original NGR, since Ebo Walker (bass player) had left, and was replaced by John Cowan by that time. The band consisted of Sam on mandolin and fiddle/ John Cowan on bass/ Curtis Burch on guitar and dobro/ and Courtney Johnson on banjo. Since you're becoming enamored with the banjo, I'm wondering if you've ever heard of Courtney Johnson? He was a pioneer in the "melodic" banjo world and is sadly missed by many of us. Was Scott Vestal picking banjo tonight at your concert? He (and his Stealth banjo) are the talk of the bluegrass community (these days). Here's a short commemorative clip of Courtney I found on YouTube (him playing the banjo). Sadly - - There isn't much video on Courtney. :( <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>(edited for spelling mistakes)
