    Trivia time

I'd tell you what all three have in common, but I don't want to interfere with your "personal operation of discerning of spirits". :D
  2. I've done some bizarre things since my twi "exit" (some legal/ some otherwise), but not in the context of "Losing the Grip". If you want to "Lose the Grip", be yourself. That's what I did. Follow your dreams/ pursue new hobbies/ live for the moment/ that sort of thing. It's really refreshing to do what you want without le@dersh!t telling you how "off the word" it is. Summed up in two words - - - Carpe Diem. :) Not to derail the thread or anything here Ham, but I saw a guy walking past my house the other day, wearing a tee-shirt that said: "Nuttier than a squirrels' turd". I thought of you immediately, but in a GOOD kind of way. :D
  3. Likewise here today, in modern America, concerning "certain politicians".
  4. How long did it take for you to come up with that one? Here's hoping you didn't lose any sleep over it!
  5. Here's hoping "The Center For Progressive Christianity" doesn't tell you to "bend over, and assume the position".
  6. I'm sick of taking bible classes. If the teacher is holding a banjo/ guitar/ fiddle/ or mandolin, I'll go. If they're holding a bible with a donation plate in front of them, or "teachings for sale", you can count me out. I've enough tapes here to fill up the local landfill. I don't need more.

    Marriage Equality

The word "taken", in Luke 17:34-36 means DEATH. I'm guessing your saying: One homosexual's death is OK, and the other isn't? God is now respecting individuals?? Verse 32 (about Lot's wife), sets the context. Twinky was right - - you flunked. And thanks for re-iterating my question WordWolf. You never did answer that one Pax.

    RumRunner

Back about 4 (or so) years ago, I got a PM here on the GSC site from RumRunner. He had some questions about banjos, and wondered if I could answer his questions. I was glad to help and thought I answered everything satisfactorily, but he persisted. He kept asking about stuff I thought I'd already fully explained (but I guess I hadn't to his satisfaction). After trying to answer his questions (to his degree of "answering"), I finally wrote back (in exasperation): "HEY!! This isn't Rocket Science!!!" Little did I know then, to whom I was speaking. Gonna miss you RumRunner. Happy travels out there amongst the stars. Dooj and Groucho - - - my deepest sympathies and condolences. I felt a "punch in my gut" today when I read this even though I never did meet him in person. I heard this tune tonight and thought it might be sort of a tribute to him, from me. Song of the moment

MStar - - - thanks for that info on Turlough O'Carolan. I never knew he was blind. His tunes transcend the centuries. After reading your post, I googled his name, and found out that he was blinded by smallpox, at age 18 in the year of 1788. Damn. I can see the fingerboard/ the keyboard/ whatever, and I've never written a piece of music equal to his. Shebag Shemore (more properly written as Si Beag Si Mor) is one of our favorite tunes here in the "Northland". Here's a version of it on Hammered Dulcimer. I almost bought a Hammered Dulcimer (for 600 bucks - handmade) back in 1976. At the time I had 6 or 7 other instruments, so I passed on the Hammered Dulcimer. I've regretted it ever since. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

    Marriage Equality

I clicked your link. What a crock. (imo). You'll have to provide more than that, to prove your point. Just a quick question for you (if I may)? Are you Goetz, the author of the book? Or are you an aficionado of his? From the brief description you've provided so far, it's a laughable hypothesis. The ball is now in your court. Call me "old-fashioned". Es macht nichts.. (edited to add - - - "it's a laughable hypothesis".)

Speaking of blind, here's a clip of Michael Cleveland picking fiddle. Hmmmmmmm......

I shoulda "read the verse in it's context". When you wrote Veirville, I "read" Wierwille". Mea Culpa.

    Song of the moment

    Angeline the Baker, what a good tune!! One of my (many) favorites. :) <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
  17. Was that "All with distinction", or "All without Exception"?
  18. I used to have a few name tags, all in different colors. Not sure if I have this right, but - - - There was a white one (WOW, I think)/ green (Avd. Class, I think), and gold (U. of L.). They've long gone by the "wayside" They made dandy ice scrapers for my car's windshield. :) They might have stood up to "scrutiny" in way world, but they didn't last long against Minnesota ice. And yes - - - for those of you familiar with the term "Minnesota Nice", that's a pun.
  19. JAL did a teaching on the 1994 Jan/ Feb (CES tape) called "Truthing It". For those that are curious - - - The other five tapes from 1994 are titled: The Art of Forgiveness; A Biblical View of our Emotions; The Manifestation of Prophecy; Entrusting Yourself to God; (and) In Defense of Obligation. (edited to add - - - I did NOT take the time to see who taught the other tapes. I haven't heard those tapes for (about 15 years now). Why break a "winning streak, eh?)
  20. Sorry - - - double post. I thought my edit below would take the place of this one.
  21. I've got an early copy of RHST here at the house. Funny - - - - - It's called "The Gift of Holy Spirit", and the author is Stiles, not vpw. Hmmmmmmmm.
  22. If i recollect correct, Lonnie Frisbee started the Vineyard. He had his own "devils" to deal with, but his work has outlasted docvics.
  23. Not to detract from the thread (as it's now headed), but I'd like to add to what Steve said earlier. I was sent a copy of the "Schoenheit Paper" back when it came out. It was a simple "position" paper stating that adultery was wrong, and cited biblical verses to that fact. Given the reaction from all the "higher-ups" there at headquarters, you'd have thought someone stirred a stick in a hornet's nest. It was said (from headquarters) that "Anyone who reads this paper will get possessed". Yea. Righttt! Simply reading a piece of work will get you possessed? The Bozo's at hdqtrs were just doing the typical CYA drill. And (by the mandate to not read it or get "possessed") only proved their desperation to coverup what had been going on for so long. I was (at the time) an on again/ off again twig attender, but once the local leadership found out I had a copy of that paper, all other "faithful twiggies" were told to have nothing to do with me. That was OK with me. No skin off of my nose. What made me sad was the blind allegiance folks here had to the slightest "dictate" that emanated from Box 328 NK, Oh. Then I realized that that was the way it had always been, and that saddened me even more. Sorry for the (slight) derail. Carry on. :)
  24. Is that a PFAL book I see in the bookcase behind him??
