  1. No - - - It's not banjo or fiddle or blues, but you've gotta love how music adds to folks lives. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Last year at the central market in Valencia, Spain, opera singers disguised as shopkeepers were selling produce at the various stalls there. Suddenly Verdi's Il Travatore starts playing over the loudspeakers and they burst into song. None of the shoppers has a clue what's going on. Sort of like candid camera, but completely charming. Click on this & watch and enjoy the music and the faces in the crowd.
  2. Heh, heh, heh! Look where they are "advertising", eh? How many folks read that rag mag?? I'm guessing they wanted to (but didn't) include "Faithful Only, Need Apply". Can you imagine "Joe blow" blue collar worker applying for a job there? I think unemployment might be preferable. Just my imo.
  3. Anyone know of them?? Or where they are? Kokomo Indiana twig leaders, then went to Michigan, then to headquarters 1990 to 1993 era. They had Erica, Luke, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Rebecca as kids. Tossing this out for those who might be "in the know" and have an answers, (these days). Thanks.
  4. Baloney! Polish a turd all you want. It's still a Turd. Hap - - - Absolutely!! The ONLY feasible reason I see for any "change in attitude" would be - - - There's less money coming in (these days). True. If you want REAL answers, you're free to snail-mail them under the "contact us" button!

  7. Is a "light saber" more effective than a "heavy" one?? And do they "rightly divide" the Word" just as effectively??
  8. I''ve made many mistakes in my life. I'd like to make one like this. Just once. http://news.yahoo.co...owerball_winner And no - - - I wouldn't be doing any "abundant sharing" either.
  9. "Holy Grounds", or "Higher Grounds"??

    Song of the moment

    "Ring the Bell", done by the Gibson Brothers. A personal friend of mine (Joe Walsh) on the LaPlant mandolin! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  11. Santa forgot my address long ago, so I played Santa this year and bought myself some 4:1 Schaller planetary gears (all 5 of them) for my 1974 GTR banjo.
  12. The Bullinger bible has all that stuff, if you care to look at it. :) CLICK HERE!, and then go to the free downloads. The names you are looking for are under Appendix number 57 in the PDF file. :)
  13. If you're talking about the "jehovah" names, there is only one I remember: Jehovah-Java, the Lord Our Stimulant!
  14. For what it's worth, Bolshevik - - - I was "grown up" when I first took the class. I guess you missed my point that some (not all) were more interested in learning what might have been beyond the scope of their (my) learning experience at the time, and were willing to invest in the effort to learn. Granted - - - there were those who were promised "pie in the sky", so they signed on for the class as well and didn't get the desired results. To suggest that your only "toothless retards" took the class, makes me wonder - - - Why are you living where you are, and having folks like that around you? Or - - - did you "grow up", and move away?? If you weren't a "product" of the 70's, please feel fee to refrain from commenting on that whereof you know nothing of. :) Have a nice day, and Shalom!
  15. Not sure what time period you're talking about Bolshevik, but back in the early 1970's, there were many "normal" folks who signed up for and took the class. Looking for knowledge; interested in learning; exploring "new avenues"; etc. I (and 3 of my closest friends) took pfal to see what it had to offer. None of us were "mentally handicapped" or "screwed up", to my recollection. We were younger then, and the world offered a plethora of possibilities. pfal was one of them.

    Avatar

A review I saw of the movie, on a different site: "Avatar the movie: I have just returned from watching Avatar. My first thoughts are, it is a very good movie, nay a GREAT sci-fi movie (not necessarily the same thing as a great movie). One that I think will be appreciated more by the young than the old. This movie really would require study, it's not something you can take in all in one viewing. The movie, whether you think it is a good thing, or a bad thing is absolutely filled with messages, maybe more so than any movie I've ever seen. I will say outright they did not lessen my experience of the movie in any way, I just know they are there, if you are offended by them, or thrilled by them, (and there will both reactions) it is still a good movie. Here are but a few of my observations: Spirit and blind luck win out over any amount of planing. I simply will not comment about the message for the handicapped as I'm not entirely sure what it was, and since I'm not handicapped I don't think it would be appropriate to do so, but there is a message in there somewhere. Spirit is more of the mind than of the body, since a strong mind in a broken body translates to an even stronger mind in a strong body. Hit instant replay and you can start over in any game. The good guy always gets the girl no matter how complicated it gets doing so. The producer and the director are fans of a very famous man who also has made a movie about the environment. The producer and the director hate themselves, and all other humans who have not only ruined this planet but any other they have come in contact with. They also hate all religions associated with human kind, but want some sort of religion so badly, they steal one from Star Wars, and we know all about how that works, same ol' sameo, different connectors. The producer and the director hate the military, and technology of any kind. All military types are bad, especially those in command, and the military is not only hated, but they are stupid and selfish, and pick on the meek and weak. The producer and the director know Willie Nelson on a first name basis and were invited to a peyote party just before they put this movie together. This movie has bits and pieces of Dune, Matrix Revolution, Superman, Tombstone, Quigly Down Under, Star Wars Return of the Jedi, Christmas Story, and actual footage of the Oklahoma land grab mixed into one palatable piece of movie making excellence that is just a delight. It is chock full of every cliche that is imaginable but somehow works and makes you suspend your belief system. They get the body and mind switching fouled up so many times it is almost impossible not to notice but in the long run they straighten it all out, and everyone or almost everyone is happy. BTW, if you are really tough, you can breath the atmosphere for quite a while, but if you are just an average educated scientific type or have physical impairments then you look like a fish out of water in only a few seconds. Same love scene as in the Titanic, just in much larger proportions, and less the car. Whatever on earth the cigarette thing is about, would be better left to Monica Lewinsky, or Bill Clinton to explain." I don't think I'll be watching this one anytime soon.
  20. If you ain't the Lead Dog, the view never changes.
  21. Last time I had "sand in my shorts", I was at the beach for a day. Had more fun there that day than I spent with the decade of twi. Chockfull - - - I hear you, but God and twi are interchangeable words given "the org" in consideration. Given my "indiscretions as a youth", I shouldn't be here talking/ typing to you. Twi never saved me from anything, but I can see where that might be different for others. Still ticks me off that they say "God", while referring to "the org". And vice versa. They've screwed up verbiage from day one and continue to do so.

    Men with banjos who know how to use them - - - - (Now - - - if they could get rid of that bald headed piano player, this would be a good tune!) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
