  1. Oh, it's not all sad. Lots of good things came with the move. Still, when people ask me if I have any regrets about my life, I'm reminded that I regret leaving home and never going back-----at least not in a permanent sense. I guess there's a certain amount of sadness in that. The song is more of an emotional catharsis than an actual depiction of events.
  2. The vagabond lifestyle predates the no debt policy. One time in 1974 or 1975, the limb leader had me quit my job and move to a completely different area of the state. After selling my furniture and large items, I put everything else I owned in my car trunk and took a room in a boarding house. Apparently there were no AC grads in that area to run classes. As if my being an AC grad gave me special insight on stringing chairs and stretching coffee. I've only moved 4 times as a direct part of my TWI involvement. I guess I got off easy compared to many others.

I think they quit about 40 years ago. Those are android look-a-likes that take the stage these days.
  4. Got a good reason for taking the easy way out.
  5. GSG was correct in assuming my response. Here's that link again. HERE The next one is 19th Nervous Breakdown------The Stones Classic Brian Jones era Stones

    Cataracts

Well, the sedative is quite a different issue than the anesthetic, which is a must because of patient reaction. Patient reaction also plays a big role in dental related anesthesia. Paging Dr. Sudo! Paging Dr. Sudo!
  7. Cool stuff! Especially like the use of electric banjo.
  8. "A shrinking kingdom" Hahahahahah! It was never a "kingdom" to start with. It was just a mediocre cult, nestled in between the corn stalks of Podunk, Ohio. But hey! We were "the best" mediocre cult out there. (Daddy VPP said so.)
  9. and there, my friends, is the real essence of all things "WAY".

    Cataracts

What Happens During Cataract Surgery? Cataract surgery usually is done on an outpatient basis. You may be asked to skip breakfast and avoid drinking liquids, depending on the time of your surgery. Also, do not wear eye makeup on the day of surgery. Upon arrival at the facility, you will be given eye drops to dilate your pupils and perhaps a sedative to help you relax. A local or topical anesthetic will make the operation painless. Get Adobe Flash player If you can't see the video, you may need Flash Player. (Click link to play this part) The skin around your eye will be thoroughly cleansed, and sterile coverings will be placed around your eye and head. Under an operating microscope, at least one small incision is made into the eye. The surgeon will then remove your cloudy lens (the cataract). This procedure can be performed using an ultrasound-driven instrument that "sonically" breaks up the cataract (phacoemulsification) as it is suctioned (aspirated) out of the eye. In another surgical method, special instruments are used to mechanically break up the cloudy lens into small pieces (phacofracture) and remove them directly from the eye through a small incision. The surgeon will insert a plastic or silicone IOL inside the eye to replace the natural lens that was removed. Most incisions used for cataract surgery are self-sealing. However, on occasion, incisions may need to be sutured. When stitches are used, they rarely need to be removed. http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/cataract-surgery.htm

Ain't nuttin wrong with rockin' the babies, that's for sure.
  15. Great stuff! I'm quite fond of the Donald Byrd version as well. Ironically, the original version by Duke Pearson, the writer of said piece, leaves me cold.
  16. anyone have a picture of 5/6?
  17. I'm not so sure I would be quite as tough on the whole system overall. There are some behavioral tenets that parallel common sense, such as "Treat others with respect", "A soft answer turns away wrath." and so forth. On the other hand, there are the doctrinal tenets that deal with such things as people being raised from the dead, limitless supplies of food staples, miraculous healings and that sort of thing. Maybe it would be helpful to make a distinction between the doctrinal tenets and the behavioral tenets.
  18. Definitely food for critical thought and closer examination, Steve.
  19. See? This stuff is what makes it so implausible that everything fits like a hand in a glove, every word is God-breathed, yada, yada.----"Follow me."/"Don't follow me." The contradiction is obvious.
  20. The guy to my left, I don't recognize. The guy between Norbert and Larry is, I think, Bruce D!ll. (Not a very good picture of him, if it is.) Answer to the other question is Cathy Dech@nt. Lots of faces missing-----must have been some other function going on that day.
  21. Once again, I was incorrect in thinking this would be easily recognized. It's by The Association.FREE POST!
