  1. Thanks WB and everyone. Sudo - I was recommended the DASH Diet in general discharge paperwork...looked through it, and the AHA cookbook and hve them both now. I am pretty concerned about hat I eat know but I was before too. my cholesteral was 198, LDL was 100, triglicerides were a little - I went back and looked the paper. I did like carbs, but both these menu plans and cookbooks limit them and DASH has you only ealing complex in smaller amounts. I am leary of high protein mostly - my Dad did the Eades Protien Pwer and ended up needing a 4-bypas..and stokes form clogs. To be honest, my favorite idea is what I read from the 7th Day Adventists from Loma Linda's Hopsital. I am just not big on no meat...but they come as a community that has th longest life span next to Sicilians and a place in Japan. (I think thats where the other 2 are)
  2. To think I was working towards my Life and Health license HHAA
  3. :eusa_clap:
  4. Lifted - My dad had a branch bundle issue...(25 years ago) but that is a nerve firing order complication...not a blockage. that was pretty much it.
  5. Thanks guys! Yeah Rocky - I got the pictures...actually watched the whole procedure in the cath lab...I was pretty bad I guess - they wheeled me in on a Sunday morning after i got there Sa PM and called everyone in to o the procedure.. Yeah um lets see - Plavix, coreg, Aspirin (adult version), Lisinipril (sp?), Lipitor....and yeah - O will look for that little case for the nitro pills
  6. Yes - I have joined the stent club. My left coronary artery was blocked We were in Florida and I was supposed to get in touch with gspotters Belle and co. but as the week wore on I got foggier and foggier and more in pain in my chest--like holding your breath past the easy part to where it hurts, but you can't come up for air. We flew home--I thought it was an asthma attack all along...but got home and the inhaler didn't do squat. then had pain radiate (more like a fire) radiate down both arms so Daddyhoundog took me to our own Heart Hospital...amazing place - from walking in the door to being hooked up and tested I think it was 90 seconds. Anyhow my triponin (the enzyme your heart produces when you have any heart damage) levels were elevated confirming the attack. for you more involved nerdy ones..it was a Non Q wave MI. (garden - just for you) So anyhow - I am very glad to be alive. I start rehab Monday - I am on like 5 different drugs and have to keep the nitro pills handy now. I am 49 - had good BP, only slightly high LDL very good HDL and 50 pts higher on trygicerides. I don't smoke, rarely drink and work out and have been loosing weight....however I have had a lot of stress which I won't go into here. Mostly the point is if it can happen to me ( all my friends are totally shocked - I am the disciplined one haha)---it can happen to anyone.--- Think I am gonna start drinking that 4 oz of wine a day we are "allowed" to drink!!!
  7. hubby has restless leg and snores and other sleep troubles. We are using the Breathe Right nose strips...( and uses meds for the other stuff) I use them when allergies or colds kick up, but it has helped quite a bit. He sees a Pulminary Specialist and refuses to do a sleep study sighting it's hard enough without being hooked up and i his own bed ---how in the world will he sleep in a strange place and with things hooked up... That said- he doesn't have it as bad as a lot of other people, but all other factors are very good..heart, blood etc.
  8. Okay -- I am weighing in --HAHA I did a challenge in Feb March and April with Jazzercize which I have done in the past as well. Last year I was running 2/3 miles 3x a week. (lost a little) But in the challenge we went 3x a wk in February, 4x a week in March and 5x a week in April. THE ONLY thing I changed diet wise was that I started eating instant oatmeal at work. (for breakfast - I start at 7:30 am) Results... Cholesterals went up and down respectively to HDL and LDL. (they weren't bad to begin with) Triglycerides went from 450+ to 219 (still high but muh better) Lost combined 11" from various areas of my body. Lost 10 pounds and clothes are looser And I am still experiencing changes -- cause I am still sweating... Jazzercize combines cardio and weights as well as Pilates/Jack Lalane type floor work. sorta think it comes down to eat less or burn more... like money---make more or spend less.
  9. #1 son was into it...died out about 5th -- gave 90-% of his stuff away to a domestic violence shelter we giver everything to. But - We do have a small card book of a few that he wants, but "wants mom to keep them till hes older" ---he is 16 almost 17 - JR in HS now. He was not a great reader so him reading the cards-Books etc. for me was a way to get him to read.
  10. I agree WG. I remember posting as we were leaving , literally a playby play on Waydale. I was received with amazing support and facts that helped my ofidence levels. We still would have left if I had not been received that way, but I don't know that I would check-in and post these days occasionally if I had not had that first warm reception. I have had a few posters over the last seven years become a pain in my keester and so I don't post about issues anymore. If I want an argument - I will call the opposing political party here in town. I have chosen to stay out of those volitile issues becasue the "attacking" posters here are more interested in their own eloquence than really persuading me to their way of thinking. And quite frankly I have yet to see any of the pro-wierwillians take a gently posture to tr and explain why they could be worth considering. So far it has appared polarized. There is no "totally- right " person.
  11. Abbi -- holy kamoley I love that website--- am sending to all my friends
  12. Thanks guys...I am looking into selling Life and etc. I have a friend who is a managing partner at New York Life....he probably makes in a year what the entire twi budget is...anyhow he has been hoping I would try and come on board..I am in the beginning stages and have "not quit my day job" as it were. I whole heartedly believe in appropriate insurance and still remembering hearing all that bunk when we had our babies -- thinking omg - my bother and sister-in law-- who are the assigned relatives and god parents would have nothing to take care of 2 more kids than there own....now their's are grown but mine are not. We both have LI through work but are going to get more...Hubby thinks I need to covered for at least 1,000,000 -- to hire someone to do everything I do ...that would be -- oh 35-40,000 in interest a year...anyhow ---thans for your repsonses. on a side not - We are starting are son (16) on an IRA now. If he puts away small -- 100 or so (from his Mcdonalds pay) a month for the next 10 years he can leave it after that and do pretty well by the time he is 60-70
  13. Im not sure bout Dooj's area-- but in ours there was a "movement" phase with A.L. Williams doing a term product with an MLM twist....mid 80's if I recall. My understanding now is that A.L. Williams was sold to CitiGroup which sells the old ALW product under the "Primerica" name....if any of you bought from your "leadership"....

    Life Insurance

I am just curious....since being out 7 years now I am learning about a lot of things that I just blew off before...I can vividly remember -- especially when we were doing extra ABS pushing in twigs that life insurance was always considered bad. Just curious now what you other outies think.
  15. Depends where -- I used to go to Phoenix every six weeks -- there and back in the same day-- Dollar rented me there little car for 29.00 It is the dropping it off in a different location that is giving you the steep price

    netflix

yes and I got my referral from Belle -- We like it.
  17. Yes I have -- And it is expensive so I don't buy it. My Dad had it one time on a visit... I thought it was interesting and yes I really did like it, but it's something I have to be in the mood for.
  18. well, after going in a picking up my son at 7 tonight-- he sits where I am patiently drinking MD's filtered water (which I do like) and he sits and says --Nobody can do anything right - Only me jason and Luis - (english is not his strength) and since he has some kind of authority he tells me all about who is doing what they are not supposed to be doing... I guess the lesson in that is that it is on both sides of the window.
  19. Sorry to have offfended you all---but having lived in other countries I sorta have to agree that we gotta a pretty good deal here.
  20. I cut and pasted this from an email my brother sent - a 25 year Navy veteran as of a few years ago... _________________________________________________________________ Now here's something you won't see on any of our major news stations!! Craig R. Smith Hits the Nail on the Head! "The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right? The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence 2/3s of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change. So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What we are so unhappy about?'' Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year? Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital. Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes , an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers. How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy. Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. , yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have , and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here. I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days> after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks? The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad? Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig. So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells , and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane! Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad. We are among the most blessed people on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative." "With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, "Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?" (Jay Leno)
  21. Garden - we are lucky - we have a great group - one of the managers even went to see Iron Maiden with my son and his friend and his (the friend's) Dad...they are a nice group - but we know that is not the case every where.
  22. In the words of my Tween daughter - AWESOME
  23. since #1 son works at Micky D's I have to stick up for the poor kids trying to learn about work, details of Cheese or not or whatever. My son has been there 1 year and 4 months. He is now making 8.25 and hour. He's 16 - oh he's actually training his friends now becausee he has been promoted to CreW Trainer....read that as longest lasting slave of the underlings...But nonetheless, I am really proud of him and his is learing a lot working there actually. It has been great for a kid who didn't want to play HS sports or do Band. ( He plays drums though now---used to play Frenchy Horn) He is a picky eater -- even at McDonalds -- all his Cheese Burgers are PLAIN with only cheese. He modifies just about everything on their Menu for himself and his sister. Its kinda fun though - when he or one of his friends makes something for my daughter -- they always throw in a surprise.. Its not what you know - but who you know -- I have connections now - they don't mess up my order HAHA.
  24. oh my gosh that is the place Rhino!! I live in New Mexico and we have those kids of wacky places all over the state... If they can make it up the crapped out road - it is nice there - but one doesn't have to drive that far out to the middle of nowwhere to "get it together" imnsho!
  25. Having seen this from a distance in our own family, my own children have a perspective. Let me explain. But first let me say I am not a huge supporter of abortion and yet don't think it should be illegal. I don't want to derail but mention this because i is a factor in pregnancies that might otherwise be terminated. We have 2 sets of cousins in our family..my side and my husband's side (cousin's to our children). 1 from each side graduated from high school the same year. 3 months later 1 was entering William and Mary college in Virginia. 9 months later the other one was having a baby....with no husband. Babies unfortunately cannot pick their parents. my children saw this play out over the last several years (by the way ---that neice is on baby number 3 with a different guy now and now marrigae is in sight) Other nephew is now an inspector with MSC Cruise Lines and lives between Naples and Paris. I am glad ( not for the babies) but that my children have seen the huge difference that life's decision's can bring. I tried to be nice about baby #1 -- bought my niece a gold charm bracelet with the first charm being a boy's head with his name and birthdate, when number 2 came along...I almost sent the second charm I had already ordered until my sister-in-law (her mother) told me she wanted to put a pot leaf charm on her bracelet. I still have baby#2 charm in my box (the kid is 4 now) and I am not buying one for baby #3. My own daughter has seen what is going on. Can I guarantee she will not become pregnant, but have we explicitly addressed this? -- YOU BETCHYA!!!!!
