  2. Another one is PinPoint math for lower levels...but its a big Publisher with those big publisher prices...it has different books focusing on just one thing like place value or whatever. MAthusee is my favorite.
  3. Having done intervention for a while (academic intervention)-- my favorite Math curriculum is MATHUSEE---and it is very affordable...my ESL kids love it too. reading - well that depends on what you are working on...where they are at etc. Hi/Lo books are good if you are dealing with deficits. Gander Publishing is a good American source--the Brittish ones are harder to get.
  4. Hi Lifted and GARDEN"S __ I changed it to Washn'wear lifted---had trouble with a password one time --long story-- anyhow Thankyou-- its the big 50.
  5. It starts back here, but not with the guy who walks into wallyworld. Maybe if we actually taxed imports the way the rest of the world taxes the H out of us for our imports to their countries... We are already seeing things slow down because the fuel to bring it to the US is still prohibitive (we are only in a hiatus right now)
  6. You know even though it feels like a long way...at last for me, it was like seeing the sun again for the first time without my "waybrain" filter...and I let my self think about things - question things and argue things and even maybe came back around to the same thoght I originally had,but I went through them more carefully and took time--even weeks, months, years to make decisions that otherwise were "made for me" by Dervig.
  7. Welcome... We all had to kind of figure out who we were when we landed from the other planet called Waylandia...you will get to know yourself again...and you will like what you find, forgive what you don't and overall have HOPE again for your life. It does take time --- But in the meantime WELCOME and Congratulations on getting out!!!
  8. RED FLAG...RED FLAG...RED FLAG...RED FLAG...
  9. HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY !!!! We still need to get together...and I am healthier now!
  10. "In" is a relative subjective word... Associated with - definatley.
  11. my son (17) actually uses Mary Kay Acne Gel...and it works. He still needs to be more consistent with general face washing, but when he is, it works..think it is 7.00 a tube.
  12. I have been allowing myself pizza (1-2 pieces 1x a month) otherwise, I am living by the DASH diet,; it is predominately like the Mediterranean diet. It has been very good...I am not ever hungry. (cept when I am supposed to be)
  13. I did it...but my weight has changed a lot since the heart attack and heart failure...I have lost 16 pounds - 34 since February.
  14. I've got teenagers -- do they count?
  15. I did learn that cholesterol is like the size of a golf ball while triglycerides are like a volleyball. So in some ways they are more dangerous. I also learned why the need for veggies in part--- because of the meds-- you loose a lot of potassium in your urine on the heart meds.
  16. I remember that very well Oak..... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!
  17. avoid the rocky road --HA HA   anyhow I am on the dean Ornish book adventure now...Ruby said even back then he was ahead of his time suggesting macro or is it micro biotic diets -- mostly veg -- she is the 3rd cardiologist I hae met that stays away from red meat. She told me the bool on love is very good 2--but she laughed as he is on his 4th marriage...but still said its worth reading --(I had asked about more books to read)
  18. salami -- Have you thought about Medicaid? Your kids can usually get a kind of insurance through school, but since you home school...check with a church group that does homeschool networking....and they (kids) will almost always qualify for state Medicaid...what ever your state has --call dept of Families Youth and Children or whtever they call it there... My neighbor uses it for her kids...her husband is a contract worker for the UN and goes to Africa a lot...but they don't get Benefits.
  19. Nero -- I do think that-- "At least I didn't drink the kool aid" I think its more to think I wasn't the worst fool on earth. Tell your Mom Bravo -- I am 49 and finished my BA in may of 06-- tell her hang in there...
  20. weel, had the first visit with the cardi lady -- My dr's name is Ruby (She worked with Dean Ornish 30 years ago in Mass General)...love that...anyhow -- she said I have an excellent prognosis. I will be on 4 meds the rest of my life---I would take 24 if it saved my life!!! I did not tell you guys - I mentioned to rocky - but I will tell you I wasn't breathing for 5 days (not very well any how because I was in Heart failure...my blood had backed up into my lungs quite a bit) They did say it was because I was already in such good shape aerobically which I did way before "the-way" too....(35 years now --I have scarred lungs (thus the need to be aerobic)-- another story) that -- that is what kept me alive. But because of that transient heart failure _ I was really scared...I am 49 -- too young for heart failure. anyhow she told me today it is highly unlikely to be permanent -- echocardio again in 2 weeks--- 2 weeks ago tomorrow-- I was dying---Unbelievable!!!BUT -- my prognosis is excellent! Okay -- I also get a call walking into the waiting room...my boss - I tell her I will call her back...call back and she is stuck-- we have had an over-anticipated amount of registrations at our school....Would I consider teaching Kindergarten -- with the cap at 14 kids--with an assistant (who is a permanent substitute) 70-80% of the time.?...(way less stress!!!)--we will talk Monday. I would leave Interventions for this year--but then go back next. Cardiac rehab is top notch -- I get my oxygen tested every machine -- wear 4 leads -- (ecg) and bp before and after...--After 4 more times like that it will only be the BP and oxygen...won't have to do the leads every time.
  21. Yeah for you!!! i went to cardiac rehab yesterday..did a big intake kind of exam. Hooked up to everyhting. I was good for most stuff, but walking faster than 2.5 mph scared me. I wasn't giving it a hard or very hard...just didn't want to go faster..I do have fear of feeling all that again I guess. They are great where I am going and I am confident I will work through it.
  22. Oh sweetie -- I am sorry I hope the family politics are peaceful and not disturbing... Tell Mr. GArden I send my condolences. Lianne
  23. The book I am reading now -- The cardiac Recovery Handbook...Dr.Paul Kligfield. Says on page 180 -- "Methods for Raising HDL" Quit smoking Get moving Cut the Carbs (qualified later by the difference in simple and complex and the glycemic index etc...but none the less - cut the carbs)
