  1. If that's the case, go ahead. You don't need the performer for this thread. George (PS I could be wrong, but I think the band is the Rolling Stones. It "sounds" like Mick Jagger in my head.)
  2. I can hear that first line, but no further... George
  3. And I didn't recognize it, having seen the movie. George
  4. I infer that "Firefly" and this other show were contemporary, meaning ca. 2002. Still need more help, though. George
  5. "A League of Their Own" You be strong, you survive... You stay alive, no matter what occurs! I will find you. No matter how long it takes, no matter how far, I will find you. George
  6. The Shadow Penelope Ann Miller Other People's Money George
  7. If Brother Speed isn't around, anyone else can jump in.
  8. Bump. If no one gets it soon, I'll post the answer.
  9. It was, indeed, "The Lawrence Welk Show." Your turn. George
  10. Good guess, but completely wrong genre. A-one, anna-two, anna-three! George
  11. "I Am a Rock" Why do birds suddenly appear, ev'ry time you are near? George
  12. "Piano Man" Here we come, walking down the street... (I think it was released as a single.) George
  13. Similar to "Back to the Future," but I don't recognize this one. George
  14. Well, I DID see "American Beauty" on cable. I wouldn't have guessed it won a "Best Picture" Academy Award, but then, its closest rival "Cider House Rules," was even MORE artsy-fartsy. George
  15. I wasn't being harsh. I'm glad someone new is playing! It's quite possible the Bro Speed thought the song was a gimme. I'm sure there are a number of songs which I would recognize immediately but would have you scratching your head. It's ALSO possible that he didn't know the rules of the thread... George
  16. Just a reminder: in THIS thread, the idea is to pick a song so easy that it can be recognized from a single line (generally, the first, unless it contains the title). "Name That Tune" is for more challenging entries. Of course, what may be obvious to one poster may be completely off another's radar. MY "wheelhouse" is 50's-70's rock, with some pre-2000 country. I'll get the occasional 80's+ rock tune, but not often. I suspect that WordWolf is up. George Just googled "Bat Out of Hell," which did sound familiar. It WAS 70's. But I STILL didn't recognize the song! :)
  17. Most movies that win Best Picture are too artsy-fartsy for me. I'm not sure what was the last "Best Picture" that I actually saw. George
  18. No, it's "The Rain, the Park, and Other Things." Bro Speed is up. George
  19. Billy Bob Thornton Monster's Ball Halle Berry George
  20. I remember ST:TAS, mostly from the new characters, Eryx and M'Ress. I haven't seen it in almost 40 years, though, so I don't remember any coloration problems. Anyway This was one of the longest-running TV shows in (American) history. It was originally titled, "The Dodge Dance Party." Hint: NOT "American Bandstand." George
  21. A womanizing, substance-abusing choreographer helps a Jewish cantor break into show business. Stars Roy Scheider and Neil Diamond. George
  22. I remember the Richard Benjamin show, probably more because of the Barnstable twins than anything else. I think it was a garbage ship. "Quark," I think. George The others don't ring a bell, but I suspect at least one of them will garner a when revealed.
