  1. Sudo, I guess I'm a day late, but not a dollar short! Enjoy the concert!! George
  2. That's an acceptable substitute. George
  3. My guess is that it's an mp3 file, not a wmv or wav. George One last Bat-Fink item: this pic of B-F and Karate. George
  4. Okay, then. Pirate, you're up! George
  5. "nun" is correct. The last pic is showing up fine for me. Can the rest of you see it? George
  6. There are times when I miss Chicago. Winter isn't one of them. The last time I was home for Christmas (about 20 years ago) it was 25 below with a wind chill of 85 below! My family is welcome to visit ME for Christmas, but unless someone in the family dies, they won't see me in Chicago in December or January again! Seriously, graduation is a GOOD thing, and your daughter will be fine. George
  7. Well, not brilliant, but doable. George
  8. I'll come up with something brilliant tonight. George
  9. Okay, fine. Since hiway didn't know and Steve! isn't around anymore (growing up near Chicago when I did, he might have seen this EARLY Saturday mornings), the answer is Bat-Fink! Bat-Fink was actually a wingless bat. He had an Asian sidekick named Karate. (How blissfully un-PC we were!) Karate's dad was a blacksmith who made Bat-Fink steel wings. Whenever someone would shoot at him, Bat-Fink would curl his wing in front and use the line above. (Except for the time he was shot with an amnesia ray. Then it was, "Your thing-a-ma-jig cannot harm me; my whatchacallits are like a something of, er, you know!") He also drove the "Batillac," which was equiped with a "thermonuclear, plutonium-insulated, (fill in the blank) shield. As silly as The Tick, and pre-dated him by about forty years. George
  10. Looks like we need more help, Sharon! George
  11. I think Tom (who clearly hates posting pics) is stalling, so I'll jump in with "Pocahontas." (Not a bad puzzle, actually, though I wouldn't have got it without the hints.) George

    Chestnuts

For those of you just tuning in, my avatar was Batman until I found the Green Lantern pic I like. Anyway, drawing on a memory from forty years ago, Grandma and I would actually roast the chestnuts over a fire in the fireplace in a kind of wire basket. I don't recall any particular amount of time, but th chestnuts were hot and tender when done. It was probably trial-and-error. George
  13. Here's one that probably only hiway29 will get (if anyone): What cartoon character used the following phrase at least once an episode: Your weapons cannot harm me; my wings are like a shield of steel! George
  14. Rick, Your song is definitely a Herb Alpert tune. I'm pretty sure it's the one about a Mexican form of transportation! ;) George
  15. Got me stumped, too, unless we're using non-English words (hearts = amar): "Amarcord"? George
  16. I doubt that you could get ANYTHING on your list from Way Productions. My guess is that all of the people are "persona non grata" and all evidence of their existences has been expunged. George
  17. Hey George. Click the following link and see if you can't find one. http://images.google.com/images?q=green+lantern&hl=en Rick Thanks for the tip, Bluzey! I didn't know I could just add a pic from my computer. I wonder if there are any copyright concerns? George
  18. A lab I used to work in had fume hoods so loud we used to call them "the cone of silence"! Someone standing next to you would talk, and you could see his lips move but not hear a word! George

    Chestnuts

I used to roast chestnuts at my grandmother's place, years ago. What a fun memory! George
  20. I think I can prove that the increase in promiscuity, etc., can be shown to be caused by an increase in the number of people who confuse correlations with cause/effect relationships. George
  21. Hey, Boys and Girls, I'm BAAAACK! Any new quizzes, 'n stuff? (I only read back a page. Kathy's link to Sudo's story was helpful.) This new site takes some getting used to, but it seems to have some more powerful features. Now if I can just find a "Green Lantern" avatar, or maybe the whole "Justice League." George
