  1. Raf is kidding, Tom. Actually, this movie probably had as many viewers as "Traxx." It was also a spoof of adventure movies, as "Traxx" was. If you can put it all together, feel free to google it to see if you were right. I put a lot of effort into this one! George
  2. Just because this one is so bizarre, I'll try another one: Good luck. George
  3. I was just reminded of a "Night Court" episode where "Bull" wins a toupee. He chooses the "Shatner 5000" (or something); and the women in the show all of a sudden think he's hot! George
  4. After two days, I feel obliged to ask for another clue. George
  5. I figured one easy song deserved another. Now THIS one I don't know. (Maybe Sudo does!) George
  6. Hmm. Let's see what happens with upsetake mushrooms. George Yep. Changed that, too!!
  7. I left because they threw me out (not one of the choices, interestingly); but the "root cause" was invasion of privacy, so that's how I voted. I also noticed the attitude that Mercedes Benz described. I remember my BC telling me at the last ROA that we weren't witnessing to "nerds" anymore. (By which he meant, I assume, those of less health, wealth, and worldly standing than us. Being a Ph.D. chemist ,I don't think he meant "nerds" in the classic sense.) George
  8. Jokers to the right Here I am "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Stealers Wheel. George I'm a tiger when I want love; I'm a snake if we disagree.
  9. Sudo, If you check through this thread (and Name that Flick), you'll find that some players "give up" and google the answer. That's fine, as long as they don't post their results. Some will admit to googling but not give away the answer. The "Nostalgia Thread" wouldn't be much fun if everybody googled answers, either. George
  10. It will be great to have you back. For future reference (and for any other lurkers who want to play), here's how I post clues. (There may be variations that work as well.) I use Yahoo.com to find images. I expect that other search engines work the same way. (Note that it will help to keep two windows open, one for finding the images and the other here at Greasespot.) In the search category at the top of the page ("Web" is probably the default), click "Images." Then, type in the word or phrase you wish to find pictures for. Remember to use quotes or parentheses for phrases. Suppose you type in "fokkers." You will get a series of thumbnails with titles and picture size (in pixels). I try to shoot for pictures on the order of 400X400 pixels so that the pics aren't too tiny or too large, but this isn't as important as finding the picture you want. There will be all sorts of pictures available. In this case, there will even be several from the movie, "Meet the Fokkers." I chose a nice picture of Fokkers flying in formation. Click on the thumbnail. This will bring you to a split screen: the thumbnail will appear on top, and the web page that actually contains the picture will be below. (Sometimes you will get a message indicating that the picture is no longer available. Go back and try another.) Right-click the thumbnail at the top, and then click "Properties." Select the "Address (URL)." In this case, it's http://www.htc.net/~dermody/images/fokkers.jpg. Copy it (I use ctrl-C), and return to the Greasespot posting window. Click the icon at the top of the window that looks like a picture of a tree. It will open up an "Explorere User Prompt." Paste the URL into the line (I use ctrl-V) and clicK "OK." You will only see the URL with some annotation in the window, but you can click "Preview Post" to make sure the picture is there. In this case, you get this picture: Just repeat this for all the pictures you need for your puzzle. (It sounds time-consuming, but it's not, once you get the hang of it.) Two tips: After you add a picture, hit "Enter" to move the cursor to the next line. Remember to open the "tree" icon, or you'll just wind up pasting the URL (not the actual picture) in your post. Now... somebody else post a puzzle. I've done a bunch already. George
  11. I've got a co-worker vacationing in Cozumel who has been stranded because of Wilma. With any luck, he'll be back this weekend. I wonder how his story compares to yours. Glad you're back. Happy birthday! George
  12. I could have sworn I replied to this around noon. Maybe I hit "back" instead of "add reply." Anyway, Bro Speed is correct. Your turn to post a puzzle. Do you know how to do it? George
  13. You should have invited me!!! George
  14. Whoa!! Pretty stiff drinks, there!! George
  15. FINALLY, a pitchers' duel. (Who'd have guessed it would be the fourth-string pitchers?) Apparently, Lidge isn't quite as untouchable as we were led to believe. The Astros acquitted themselves admirably, though (with the exception of Phil Garner ranting about everything but his bad decision-making). George
  16. You guys are weenies. Here's an easy one: George
  17. "Witchy Woman" by the Eagles? George
  18. Lucy and I packed up the vehilcles for our escape from "Rita" and headed out. We came back four days later, and nothing was awry. A couple days afterward, one of the local deputies came by and told us that next time we evacuate, please close the garage!!!   The deputy had been kind enough to close our garage AND LOCK OUR BACK DOOR!!! :o Dorks a-plenty when there's a hurricane brewing! George
  19. It's somebody's birthday today!!! Not Ham's though; I missed that one! :D Glad it was a good one, "Old Man." George
  20. I guess the old chestnut about good pitching beating good hitting doesn't describe this Series! George
  21. And while you're at it, how about posting a lyric in "Name that Tune"? George
  22. The first song is definitely Russian, or more correctly, Soviet. The USSR national anthem, perhaps? George
  23. 2-0 Sox now. Having spent half my life in Chicago and half in Houston, I don't really have a favorite, alhough I root for the Sox down here to tick everybody else off! I thought that this would be the first seven-game Series with a total of seven runs scored (five of them earned). It may wind up being one of the HIGHEST-scoring Series! George
