  1. Laugh all you want, Barbara Bush. Any woman who breaks her leg sledding with the grandkids has to be a good time.
  2. It was all done through paypal and all the buyers were happy to have them and very pleasant. Not sure what the intended uses were.

    Ode to Michigan

I laughed pretty good at that, I admit thoughts of launching my shovel at the snowplow driver amid words not to be printed here. They only come once you are done with the driveway. Living in the UP of Michigan is all that for sure beautiful and miserable all at once.
  4. I sold mine on ebay after a house cleaning, there is actually a market out there since they are hard to get. Probably not the best way but I'm sure no buyers were blind to the content if you bid on it you knew what it was.
  5. I chose "None" but if there was an "all" that could have applied to for the reasons that potato listed earlier. I think Thomas Bumgartners options have some value too, but maybe add the possibility of nuclear fallout to that ;)
  6. No doubt the Japanese cars are great, I had a 1992 Geo Metro marketed by GM but made by Suzuki. I loved the car at nearly 50mpg and it was a 5 speed, laugh all you want but it was so light that it really would fly. It was traded for a Cavalier, I really liked that car too it ran great did an average 33 mpg highway and with very little maintenance other than the oil changes and such treated me well for many years. Traded that for a my dads old truck that had fewer miles, the truck and I didn't get along very well and since it was my house it had to move. I now have a car payment for a vehicle I think is just OK, and my old Cavalier? Still going strong
  7. Every organization has the nut jobs. I was in TWI when Waco happened, was actually studying with my Mom quite a bit since she was taking the Advanced class that summer. We saw the news with the reaction "who would ever follow a psycho like that!" Kind of Ironic isn't it, I'm not alone am I ;)
  8. I have found something else I am happy to have not witnessed while in. I have no problem with guns when used responsibly by people who do not need anti-psychotics. Speaking of which 2 more days until deer season (rifle) in Michigan, nummy venison. I don't hunt so I don't own a gun, no need.
  9. I had to choose other also for what I did after leaving. Basically carried on with life, finished school and busted butt to do it. Found out I was booted from my Mom, twig was at my parents house so I showed up regular twig night and things weren't right. Mom was kicking back smoking a cigarette and dad was in a funk, it hit him hard since he was corp at one time. They disbanded for lack of a better word our whole twig and only one was allowed to stay if he was able to get his wife in line, she was non cooperative and he chose his family I am glad to say. The LC sent over someone who was in corp to do all the dirty work and then weeks later they threw her out once she got rid of everyone. It was pathetic and none of us were supposed to communicate but we did and I saw many at my wedding a few weeks later even a few who were still in and came anyway cause they thought the decisions were BS. Needless to say they didn't last much longer and they were in for about 30 years too.
  10. I guess I have nothing to complain about with the bear that knocked my pack around when I was peacefully sleeping in a tent. At least he didn't do that to it!
  11. I read the book a few weeks ago and was appalled at the abuse and manipulation that she suffered. Kristens Mothers strength of character really impressed me, she stood by her the whole time. She had the sense to not push knowing it would really push away. After reading I was also thankful that my time in TWI was not like that. I didn't see any of the abuses to that extent, I saw a lot of talking down to and a lot that just didn't click (but very mild in comparison) the people in my area were pretty good, it was the leadership that was imported to my area I wasn't too crazy about.
  12. Puts a new twist on "keep your friends close, but your enemies closer"
  13. Didn't we have to stay on our toes because the devil knew the word inside and out, makes you think doesn't it.
  14. I get them too, click the report phishing button on Hotmail every time but they keep coming.
  15. I like to think people can change their ways, many of us have done things in the past we are not happy about and that is not who we are now. Lets hope he has been separated from that life long enough to see it clearly. God forgives we just need to ask.
  16. I am going to try to type this without throwing something. Early 90's was ordered to have an abortion (I was a bad wayfer and refused) 2000 Election voted for Gore, and was bitched at by same person in the previous sentence for voting for a "pro-abortion" politician. Some people even after being away do not change. I think this follows the logic or lack of we are commenting on.
  17. I agree, Christianity doesn't have an exclusive on ethics and morality. I think its safe to say all religions have a core value of being good to others, however practice of that is where it all goes wrong.
  18. Ham, I think you nailed it there. Many of us were booted for reasons that summed up as "able to think for ourselves"

    Halloween

We are 5 minutes from Lake Superior, this time of year its hit or miss but not likely to stick for a month if it happens. Shes playing games no frost yet so we are all worried whats in store for us. Halloween costumes must be ready for layers and the grim reaper will be fully covered under that cape. If there are snowmen I might cry.
  20. so it was

    Halloween

I don't dress up myself but the little guy is going as a Grim Reaper. We have artistic differences on his mask though but since its his costume he can do what he wants I suppose. Hoping for good weather to trick or treat, no snow!
  21. You are all off the word! You need to renew your minds and remember how blessed you are learning the truth of the word. How did I do? Short and sweet. Thought I would keep out all F bombs and such but you can all fill in the blanks. This is an obvious paraphrase.
  22. "A: "Circumference: 78225 miles, Diameter: 24,900 miles" This is where I almost fell out of my chair, yet the earth is flat? Its OK to have crazy beliefs but at least they can TRY to be consistent. Sorry to muck up the old testament debate, very good points on all sides there.
  23. Above all be supportive of HER as she is, which it sounds like you are and love her enough to look into things. She is probably interested in learning more about the word and you are probably right the people at her twig level are great. I always liked the people in our twig, they were real. If she starts to act differently, her confidence in herself and her abilities appear to be slipping then you need to be there. Its good you see not to be judgmental and aren't attacking her beliefs (that is a sign of war and not to be tolerated, you would be marked as someone stopping her from hearing the "truth" and cutting all ties would be STRONGLY recommened.) As long as she knows you are there to talk whenever needed. She may have had an abortion or even a miscarriage and just feels shame either way and is not ready to talk about it, again just be supportive. Being her friend is all you really can do. If she knows you and her family love her and no one attacks she will be likely to keep an open mind and stay herself. Too many people burned bridges in TWI because family & Friends attacked and pushed too hard to reason, and when they left they had no one to go to. Unfortunately its all up to her and you can hope she will see things for what they are before she is involved too deep. Someone at a higher level than the twig is probably a royal A-hole (they have been programmed that way and there are some that are good, but not many) and that will open her eyes to see how people are treated. Sadly you need to be in a while to see some true colors.
  24. This month is our 14 year anniversary of being kicked out (might have been late september) in the big Michigan wipeout of 1994. Also just recently got rid of all the books which prompted me out of curiosity to do a google search on The Way finding this site. I however, sold everything on e-bay and cheap. Tossed a lot in the trash. Found out some people I really liked are still in, most were booted when we were.
  25. Anybody being "blessed" for any reason (instant giggles) Long lines for food outside conditional friendship Refugee camps any church with a large auditorium Self rightous hypocrits any reference to SIT
