  1. What the? Am I so self absorbed that I missed ExC's birfdai? Wow, happiness to a beautiful person. Seth
  2. OK I'm sorry, about the knuckle heads comment, I got over whelmed. Hey it happens to me, when I'm faced with explaining myself, I've been a little edgy lately for reasons I cannot discuss here let's just say there was a betrayal and a theft recently and I'm trying to deal with that. I'm not feeling well enough to explain myself in detail, I will provide things to explore: Dr. Michio Kaku - Wikipage Truth be known What the Bleep Do We Know? Seth
  3. No I didn't say that can do magic and miracles, go back and read it again. If a being having sufficiently advanced technology could do something we can't currently do like say instantly heal a wound then would it appear to be magic? I love how you folks take what I say and twist it to make your argument. String theory talks about other dimensions. I'm talking about willing to believe or ready to change my mind if there is sufficient evidence to reliably prove it. At the moment I've no proof of these things so I do not believe in them. I mean really am I talking knuckle heads here? Seth
  4. Well there are terms for that, it's called media spin, however there are weak Atheists, meaning they are guided by logic and science but hold in their hearts the willingness to believe that science may find proof of other dimensional beings, or explanations for legends. I'm willing to believe that there may be other dimensions I cannot see, and it may be in those dimensions there are beings with sufficiently advanced technology that it would seem like magic or a miracle to me what they can do. This is a statistical long shot but given enough time and research we may make contact and find out ghosts and such are not dead human spirits, but adolescent antics performed by young highly advanced other dimensional aliens. You know the more advanced a race of beings the more important play is to their emotional development. I however do not base my life and actions on this belief, I don't try to build a dogma around it, and then invite people to join me in the quest to worship the pan-dimensional beings with advanced technology. There are people who do, scientologists and the Heaven's Gate group, maybe many others, they have taken a hope of a story that is plainly far fetched and made a religion around it. Even though I'm an Atheist I remain a hopeful skeptic, that is to say I know we are learning new things every day, if some new proof comes around I think I could change my mind about what I believe. Seth
  5. First thing, love the quotes Mister P-Mosh. The best we know about one 6th of the world population considers themselves Atheist or Agnostic, we might have more but haven't had time to count them. You may ask why then haven't we heard from these Atheists? Well for the most part they mind their own business, aren't concerned with organizing or otherwise making a big deal about it. The other more important reason Atheists and to some extent Agnostics don't advertise their lack of belief is because religious people are very violent, this may insult most of you fine believers who are peaceful, but you need to understand this. Religion is a breeding ground for the scum of the earth, and that is not the fault of "Joe Churchgoer" but of the system, and the beliefs that make up the system. I'm sorry but this is my opinion. You cannot blame the whole problem on the extremists because if you were to ask a moderate and an extremist about a scripture that says god said kill those infidels, they would both agree that it's the right thing to do, but the extremist would actually do it. So the whole system is screwed because let's I say I'm Christian (but like to murder people, on a regular basis, but not those of the same faith) I'd still be forgiven and welcomed in church, and called a soldier for the lord, I call that crazy talk. Something I'd like to point out to my religious friends is that much of the modern day conveniences we have, the advanced medicine and life extending & saving drugs we all benefit from daily were invented by Atheists. Most to the greatest scientific breakthroughs of our age have been discovered by Atheists, and they don't turn around and say only Atheists can use these developments. You religious people need to get off your arrogant high horses. I mean the top three killers 100 years ago were Pneumonia, Diarrhea and the Flu, if it was up to religious people those still would be the top killers because instead of scientific discovery we'd have a church meeting and pray over it. This is all I have time to say right now. Go Atheists Go! Seth
  6. Thanks for your help, I'm wondering if I had one of them since childhood and just recently got the other from a deertick bite. My friend may have carried a hitchhiker into my house, and I might have picked up the tick from his clothes. I noticed a small bullseye on my hand, but it didn't look like what I saw online, so dummy me I ignored it. I hope don't have irreversible brain damage from it, if that's what I have. But the symptoms are explaining why I have developed these problems with memory and irritability and bad misspelling. Really frustrating. Seth
  7. Congrat's can't wait to read it, you will remind us again in September? Seth
  8. my headaches come and go, the lingering kind have been present at times, but I thought it was the weather, I was thinking it could be lyme. The chills are harder to nail, but yes, and the sweats night and day sometimes. Crap I don't think I had a blood draw for lyme. I've had a stiff neck for a while. Thanks for the concern, and lyme has come up more then 2 times in my past I better have it looked at. holy crap I looked at that booklet and I have most of the symptoms on the check list, the unexplained dental pain has been recent. Could I have had Lyme disease since grade school? Seth
  9. I think LCM trotted him out to sing one song at an ROA in '92 or '93 my memory is hazy. Seth
  10. I gave my Doc enough info she's a smart cookie, she is thinking about diabetes along with what else it could be. on friday I go for a neck MRI, oh joy more contrast. Seth
  11. I'm feeling better, thanks everyone, it'll be a bit before labs come back. Seth
  12. Hey Waysider, I'd love to see this as a whole separate topic. Good stuff my friend. Seth
  13. I'm going back tomorrow. If it is diabetes I'm going log a formal complaint with the hospital director and demand a formal apology from one of the Dr. who refused to allow me to see a nurse. Maybe I'll ask for his job, with health care practitioners like that who needs diseases? I lost my cool and punched the wall, they had security tail me for a while. They wouldn't even check my vitals until I got the hospital administrator involved, twice! Seth
  14. Thanks, I'll ask them to do that tomorrow. they scheduled my appointment for tomorrow, jerks. They wouldn't even take my vitals until seeing the patient advocate twice. Seth
  15. Every inch of my body is in pain or itches, I'm chronicly fatigued, my ears ring, I have labored breathing, neuropathy. On top of that I am extremely irritable, My plan right now is to goto the VA hospital in Philly. Seth
  16. Oakspear and everyone I'll offer a couple quotes from one of my hero's, Carl Sagan: Seth
  17. This is a real problem, just adding to the paranoia of a non-event, there is no Jesus to come back it's a myth. What this site will do is make these people rich and then the can lobby against Atheists and other non-christians and then elect some Nero-type who will push the button. These idiots who wrote the left behind series are worst kind of fools, they are making big bucks on a myth told as reality and writing fictional accounts about mythic fables. They are writing lies about lies that are sold as truth. The Bible is myth from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 to write a fiction based on myth is nothing new, that's what the Gospels are and Acts, and the Epistles and the rest of the NT, bunk! It's scary to think that if even 25 million Christians sign up for this "service" they will provide $1Billion in cash flow for this guy, that's a drop in the bucket in terms of the worldwide population that calls themselves Christian. This is not the kind of money we need these fanatics to have, they need to stay poor in their little church groups. Next thing you know someone will start a Rebuild the Temple fund... maybe I'll do it, I'll rebuild the temple and ask the question, does it fit with your theology that a former Born-again Christian now Atheist would be the Anti-Christ who rebuilds the temple? Seth
  18. Sweet, thanks, LOL that was funny. Seth
  19. There once was a cult called the way. Which kicked everyone out that was gay. Told us a healthy spiritual suspicion was ok, to point the finger at a person and say your gay. So on a sweet sunday night under the pancake make-up and lights the MOG said with delight. "If you are a wimp-foot fag, or god damned homo- sympathizer I'll "escort" you off the property tonight!" If any today was accused of being gay while in the way please share your pain with us today. Seth Poet laureate I am not.
  20. I forget who and where but it might have been on TED.com or NOVA that I watched a talk given by a professor of meteorology. He was studying Jupiter, and noticed that the jetstreams and the storm systems on that planet seemed to mirror our own. He looked at the latitudes in scale to earths and it seemed to predict where, when and the magnitude of the storms we have. I never looked into it myself but someone with an interest in weather might like to. Seth
  21. I can't speak to the miracles in other countries because I've never been present to see them, neither can I speak to your broken arm being healed. As far as people being to smart to believe in that kind of stuff, well boy howdy! You betcha! I'd love to be accused of being to smart to believe in something I can't prove or substantiate. As far as Josephus goes I find it hard to believe he's reliable, for the following reasons: He was born 37 CE which is some 4 - 7 years after Jesus and the pentecostal experience, so he didn't live through those times. His "Antiquities of the Jews" wasn't finished until 93 CE which is contemporary with Paul and other Apostles but try and find Paul in Josephus's writings. Sure he mentions James the brother of Jesus who is called the Christ, but what Josephus mentions about Jesus is hearsay, it should be noted that the oldest texts of Josephus's writings are from the 11th century. There is some debate about the section mentioning Jesus being forged in the 4th century by Bishop Eusebius. Even if the mention of Jesus is not forged I would consider the fact that Josephus was commissioned by Flavius (Vespasian) Caesar to write history for him. Aside from Josephus and his questionable reliability, there are no Roman or Jewish historians who were born earlier then 37 CE who wrote anything about Jesus or Paul. This is not a good case for Christianity. Seth
  22. LOL that must have been the early '80's when it was huge, (pardon the pun) I went when the rocks were smaller. Seth
  23. Wow, haven't thought of the Junk Tables in a long time. I touched the stuff, I only got a lil' possessed LOL. I remember looking through the articles about the one of the CEO's of Proctor & Gamble who was a Satanist, you remember when P&G's logo was this Man in the moon with 13 stars or something. Then there was the auto writing and ectoplasm pictures as mentioned, I liked the whole table full of "Seth speaks" paraphernalia. They had a Golden book "The Kitten who lost her mitten" I could never figure out why that made the junk table. Also a copy of an old Infocom computer text adventure called Zork was on the table, I seem to remember the lost books of Moses were on one table. A course in miracles on another table, I forget all the stuff they had, on one table it just looked like they dumped a kids toy box on it. Seth P.s. what's the weather going to be tomorrow Raf?
