  1. I don't remember seeing, reading or writing by anyone here about any excuses for the dbacks loss. They got beat. End of story. Another story, which I posted but NO one acknowledged, is that Bob Melvin is the NL Manager of the Year. I believe he (and his coaching staff) deserve the honor. They achieved beyond expectations.
  2. The point you appeared to be trying to make is that the Rockies are actually younger than the Dbacks. That the Rockies are actually younger is simply, by virtue of THAT analysis, NOT true. The Rockies get the NL championship, who cares how old they are? I'm not going to correct the analysis or argue its merits. I pointed out examples of how it was faulty. If you want to hold onto it, far be it from me to oppose you. At this point, I'm just hoping for an exciting 2007 WS and a better Dbacks showing next year.
  3. That's FAULTY analysis. I don't know who the Rockies "regulars" are or would be, but I can tell you that whoever did yours plugged in the wrong players as regulars at a couple of positions, and failed to account for the fact that, for example, Ojeda has been a journeyman minor leaguer, despite his age. His age DOES give him some depth in understanding and skill that a younger guy might not have, but he ALSO is NEW to the MLB playoffs, AND he was only a regular due to someone else's injury. I'm not going to argue it with you, just give you those examples of how that analysis is nonsense. Take it or leave it. For some reason, when I tried to edit for grammar, it wouldn't take... I meant to say that whoever did the analysis you presented plugged in the wrong Dbacks players at a couple of positions.
  4. Oh, yes... I remember now... part of the VOOM HD channels... Adrenaline junkie sports... Naw, I don't watch it. but good action packed stuff.
  5. I'd be with you on that... it's been a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time since they've been to the BIG October show! I think a Rockies/Indians match up would be awesome. Do you think Willy Tavarez has one of those Willie Mays over the shoulder basket catches in him?
  6. Which MIGHT just broaden his perspective on Global Warming! Btw, they changed the name of Discovery HD Theater, dropping "Discovery" because NOW all the other Discovery related channels are available in HD also... I find the Science Channel especially interesting... not to mention Meerkat Manor on Animal Planet... But also there's lot's of HD sports! Well, SHOOT... now the WS NOT in HD... well, good grief. btw, I don't even know what channel LUSH is on... if it's the FIXED NOISE CHANNEL, I (by choice, of course) don't get that one. I think he said he has DISH Network... which I also have. The channels for HD and nonHD are set up as you described ALSO on DISH. And when I moved back in 2005, I got one of those over the air antennas to clip onto my dish... however, I no longer need it because all of my local channels are now carried in HD on DISH. Just like for Livo last night... he ONLY had ONE bad inning!
  7. So, rhino, did ya get yur HD upgrade installed yet? No doubt you'll enjoy baseball games more... with HD, it's BETTER than being at the game.
  8. You pretty much boiled it down to the least common denominator. At this point, I gotta figure the Rockies are going to play better in the WS than either the Cards or Tigers did last year... and that each of two AL teams can give us a good WS matchup... And I expect Eric Byrnes is going to (and it's surely already started) hear about what may have been locker room bulletin board material for the Rockies... and hopefully he'll learn from his verbal mistakes. I believe the Dbacks have a solid core of talented players to build on for next year... I can't imagine they'll make major changes, though some tweaking would be appropriate... and just like the Tigers put additional emphasis on PFPs (pitchers' fielding practice) in the spring, the Dbacks will hopefully put some emphasis on baserunning in various situations.
  9. NL Manager of the Year October 15, 2007 - 11:43PM D-Backs notebook: Peers pick Melvin manager of year Jack Magruder, Tribune DENVER - Bob Melvin’s peers recognized the work he did in leading the Diamondbacks to the NL West pennant this season, voting him manager of the year in balloting conducted by The Sporting News. (continued) -------- Congrats to Bob Melvin, NL Manager of the Year.
  10. Not anymore. R.I.P. Dbacks' 2007 season! It was a good one. Congrats Hap, I hope your Rockies don't get stale waiting for the ALCS to finish. Yes, THAT error pretty much cost the game. Owings had a situation he could manage up to that point.
  11. Hey Dr. Strangelove... don't you answer PMs anymore?

  13. Dbacks best hitter to pitch game 4 October 15, 2007 By Tony Desiere PA SportsTicker Contributing Writer DENVER (Ticker) - With the Arizona Diamondbacks fighting for their playoff lives, manager Bob Melvin will round out his lineup by adding the team's best hitter, starting pitcher Micah Owings The rookie righthander will start Game Four after going 8-8 with a 4.30 ERA this season for the Diamondbacks, who are attempting to become just the second team in baseball history to overcome a three games to none deficit in a best-of-seven series. Owings comes into the game with a .333 average in 60 at-bats, stroking 20 hits, four home runs and driving in 15 runs. His average is nearly 50 points better than Eric Byrnes - the second-best hitter on Arizona's playoff roster - and his 1.033 OPS tops Byrnes by over .200. "He definitely brings a different dynamic to the game," Melvin said. "They throw him breaking balls right away. They pitch to him like a hitter right away, and he responds. He gives us an added dynamic when he's in the lineup to having nine hitters." (continued) ----------- Not that the series isn't pretty much over anyway, but you guys will get a look see at Dbacks rookie pitcher Micah Owings tomorrow night... I hope it's a good game...
  14. Apparently, Mark Reynolds didn't! :) 1-1, bottom of the 4th.
  15. As long as the Rockies refrain from using the HUMIDOR! It's a DRY heat, here anyway!... not that it's genuinely HOT (only mid 80s F)... THAT is cool, or really just right. And with the light breeze, I don't even need the A/C on today!!!! Would be purrrrrrfect baseball weather by sunset... mid-60s to low 70s. I forget, why do you folks NOT live here????
  16. Other factors include the very human need/sense of belonging... "MY team" kinda thing... and for some, to some degree, what sports did we play (not necessarily even play well) as a kid.... BASEball was IT for me...
  17. Looks like the Sox are gonna need another day/another game to recover... unless they have some late night miracles ready for the Fenway faithful! Sorry mstar. :(
  18. And as long as one keeps the poison ivy weeded out, gardening nekkid in the privacy of one's own backyard would be good as far as I can tell. Btw, Borat's movie was on HBO earlier this evening... I watched it (for the first time... didn't see a need to buy a theater ticket at the time). There's a scene where Borat and his traveling companion, a fat guy also from Khazakstan (sp?) fight (wrestle, not in a way intended to be fun) naked... and I can say unequivocably, it was VERY BAD. The rest of the movie was pretty funny, however.
  19. That's why this little tidbit is news today... I saw that movie with her and Denzel too... they were both cops, I think... and had been married. Was that "Out of Time"?

Are you saying that you emulate Larry Craig? Are you telling the truth?
  21. And though it MIGHT be funny, and for SOME slackers, true... it's STILL simply a caricature (and as such, the sadness is in the distortion it presents of reality)... sorry to be a kiljoy. <_<
  22. LONGGGGGGGGGGGG game! Bottom of the 10th, still 6-6. I'd be nervous if I were you, mstar! On the other channel (also in HD), I have the ASU SunDevils (my alma mater, and the stadium's only roughly 2 miles from my house (I can hear the fireworks every time ASU scores) taking the Washington Huskies to task... Make that top of the 11th.
