  1. Talking to some other GSers, I thought it might be fun to make this a topic. PB&M sandwiches are peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwiches. They are one of my favorites. I've liked them for as long as I can remember. I've only encountered a few other people from twi days, and here at GS cafe who say they like them. I usually like them on whole wheat bread. Sometimes I like to add cheese, and even like them as a grilled sandwich, adding cheese and bacon!! So, if you like PB&M sandwiches, or one of its variants, please sound off here!! -------------- Per :)-->

As far as a location, there certainly are options. We could do it at a park. For instance, Fairfax County (Virginia) has a few parks, and then Maryland has some - e.g., Wheaton Regoinal Park is nice. But there might be other options. It'll be nice to meet and see the faces behind the GS-handles. Per

MCarroll, Flow7, likeaeagle: Sounds like a "weener" ;)--> (winner) of an idea to me!! Some folks I know in MD have been talking about getting together for a picnic of sorts for awhile now. I bet there would be interest on both sides of the river. And summer is fast approaching - with its wide array of activities to keep us busy - swim team, T-ball, etc. etc. A picnic would be a great time to get together and meet fellow NOVAs - for a real "SuperNova" experience! 9. Love to read when i find/make the time: here are some writers i like. . . Michener - can be verbose, but interesting from the historical value. Have read Texas, Alaska, Space, Chesapeake - need to read some more. Ludlum - fun stuff - have read most of his material, waiting for the last few to make it to the library. Clancy - sort of a level up from Ludlum in a sense. Rand - loved Atlas Shrugged, liked Anthem when i read it 25 years ago - 1984ish stuff. Hawking - i also have a penchant for the "universal." ------ Per [This message was edited by Peruser on July 17, 2003 at 6:48.]

  13. Anyone remember them or know how they are doing now? They were up in northeastern NY for some time, then out in the Buffalo area the last i heard (that would have been early to mid 1980s, i guess). Per
  14. Shell, I hope your birthday is all you expect and more!!! Have a great one!
  15. Hi folks, this music discussion is pretty neat . . Yeah, The White Album was neat-lots of fun songs. I had the album once, but under the influences of 'chaff burning days' got rid of it. Well, no one is perfect; I may get it again one day if I get so inspired. Some of those songs bring back memories. One that stands out in my memory is Ob-la-di, ob-la-da - it always seemed to be playing on the radio - must have been either late 1969 or 1970. Anyway, I have this one memory of of sitting at the kitchen table (with mother and some of my siblings)working on a jig-saw puzzle, and that song comes on and we all start singing to it. Can't remember what the puzzle was, except it was one of those 1000 or 1500 count puzzles - the kind a whole family can gather around and enjoy. An odd/obscure memory but one that will stick with me as long as i have my faculties. Till next time. . . Per
  16. Our politically correct "holiday party" is tomorrow - one held off-site with lots of fun and some "fun beverages." It will be interesting to see how "correct" everyone can remain -- those that show up that is. Some not wishing to show up are doing so as not to appear "politically incorrect," hence they stay away - (they don't want to drink something tongue loosening and say the wrong thing). I plan to be there, leaving my desk and my stacks of papers for an "approved absence" in the interest of not only morale building, but just plain relaxation - and yes, I may drink, but I won't say the "wrong thing." And to borrow a phrase oft used by another poster who comes to GS from time to time: "CHEERS" everyone! (thanks Garthy!) Per
  17. Kit, I love the way you described dancing in relation to our walk with the Lord! "While dancing women learn to follow the leader (God will have a bride for His son who follows His lead). And by the same token men learn the gentle, lovely way to lead (how gentle is Jesus as He leads us to the still waters of His soul)." In the dancing that my wife and I have been doing for a few years now - The Carolina Shag (one of the sub-types of Swing) - leading gently and subtly is stressed so that the dance appears smooth and beautiful. Very slight hand movements cue the woman that a certain dance step/movement is to occur and seeing it done well is surely something. For folks who may not know, the Carolina Shag is a popular dance down in the Carolinas, especially the Myrtle Beach area. It is gaining popularity in other states on the eastern US. Anyway, just wanted to put in my plug for dancing. It's fun to go and do and learn new moves and hone old ones - always room to improve. Per.

  19. a few of my favorites include: "It came upon a midnight clear" "Do you hear what i hear" "Oh little town of bethlehem" "Oh Holy Nite" As an aside. . . I also like watching a good performance of the "Nutcracker Suite" with my little ones sitting on my lap. And I enjoy watching "It's a Wonderful Life." 20. Music. Music. . . . .. Yes I like music. That is a totally ambiguous comment, isn?t it?! Anyway, I?ll digress - or maybe regress for a moment in time down memory lane. . . . . Growing up, other members of my family were rather musically inclined. . .from various musical instruments to voice. I developed an appreciation for music, although today my preferences are not necessarily congruent with those closest to me. I still like some of the old twi music. There, I said it! Don?t worry, I still love to hear old stuff like: Led Zepplin, the Who, Moody Blues, CSN(Y), Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Spooky Tooth, Seals and Crofts, . . . . . Some of that old twi music stuff really relaxes me. I used to do my homework and studying with it playing in the background. I guess that is one of the things music can do. Some of the stuff that comes to mind are songs by ?Living Waters?; yes, Hope, I still like those oldies off of ?My Soul Doth Magnify?! Even when I was still in twi and the ?newer music? was in vogue, I?d often rather listen to some old PDSTRO , PVD, or Good Seed when the opportunity arose. To me, some of the newer stuff sounded ? what?s a good word. . ?cloned?.? Anyway, that is just my opinion. Oh man, I can recall first getting involved with twi and getting the three album set by Joyful Noise (you know, Volumes 1, 2, & 3). I can still hear the song that started: ?God Bless You, It?s nice to see you and Welcome to our Show!? The song ?Sandals in the Sky? was a real hoot! Then the tape titled ?Rockin? at the Rock? (ROA-76) with the sound of the motorcycle revving up. When I listened to that tape, I sometimes would say to myself, ?yeah, i was there and remember hearing that when it happened!!? Yeah, rock on ?Tuffy McDuffy? - wonder how ?Tuffy? is feeling today - LOL!! Oh man, now I?m remembering the group ?Agape.? I can still remember ROA-76 (or was it77 - dang CRS) and listening one night to David Bailey and another guy singing songs at the Doulos Dennis Root Beer Saloon!? I think Jaime Louis(?) was the host that night ? Now please don?t be saying - ?how in the heck are you remembering all this stuff?? It?s just that some stuff just sticks in my head. Anyone remember an album by some Scottish Believers - I just remember it had something like the letters G RA on the cover. It was a little different; I think i liked the accents. Picked that up at a family camp in 1980. Then, fast forward thru ?New Horizons,? ?The Victors,? ?Singing Ladies? and whatever else. Well, as I like music. Throw in a little Beach Boys, too, for fun. Anyone remember the Beach Boys version of the song ?Louie, Louie?? Cutesy, fun version of that song, but have yet to find a radio station that has it and can play it - suppose I?ll have to go and get the album it came out on. Anyway, still living and listening to what i like. Per
