I was invited last night to go to an outdoor concert, it was awesome !! They're a Canadian band, but maybe some of you have heard of them. I couldn't believe the number of different guitars they kept playing and when they brought out the "mandolin" MY KNEES JUST WENT WEAK !!! Blue Rodeo is the name of the band. Here's two of the songs they played last nite............................. HERE HERE

Herbiejuan..............Why 136? I don't know, I bought too many packages? Coolchef...............Guess I'll be passing out tomatoes for a while, alot of those plants are cherry tomatoes I might add. Cowgirl

I just finished transplanting 136 tomato plants outdoors the other day, that I had been growing from seed on my window sil this past winter. Well I'm not to happy right now, my twins decided to give 56 plants a haircut and used the sizzors and cut them all off. Now all I have left of these 56 plants is little stubs! My question..............................will they grow back or are they history??? Cowgirl

I was just listening to "Dueling Banjos" as I was doing laundry, I know there's probably tons of versions out there, just wanted to know what's the best you have heard? Anyone? P.S. I realize this is a guitar thread but the version I have been listening to has a guitar in it! Cowgirl

Hi Coolchef!! Well that explains the fur balls growing out of my ears!! :) I had no idea those were toxic, I just like them for their sweet fragrance and how pretty they are. Lilacs, never heard of eating them.....hmmmmmmmm, what do you eat them with? It's not like one of those things you put on pizza, like pineapple, is it? DMiller, I must say that is gorgeous!! Cowgirl

I was out on an early morning run along the trails near my house and I was on this rugged part of a trail that no one ever goes on cause it's all overgrown, All of a sudden I came upon this incredible scent, stopped me in my tracks and I look around, I couldn't believe my eyes, thousands and thousands of "Lily of the Valley" flowers and they are just bursting with fragrance!! It is so tempting to just take a blanket and put it down in the middle of all these flowers and lay down for a little nap, breathing in the scent! Hey that would be a good title for a poem "I Fell asleep Amongst the Lily of the Valley" Any poets out there? Anyways, I'm off to go fill my vases! Cowgirl

Hi SafariVista!! Thanks for the encouraging words!! To answer your question, the man is making $100 on each rooster, I'm making $70 on each one, and those 3 roosters are on consignment, the rest he will buy off of me out right. So each piece that I make the price will vary depending on how much time and details and the type of materials I use on each particular one and the size of course. The neatest thing about this about this whole thing that gets me so excited were his parting words, he said, "Have fun with it, just go wild with your ideas, let your imagination go!" So I really get the opportunity to express myself through this kind of work which means alot to me, plus getting paid for something I love to do! I've got so many ideas running through my head right now! Safari, if you have anymore questions, please ask away! Cowgirl

Thanks so much everyone, the names must have paid off big time, I just got back from talking to the guy who's going to carry them for me in his store/gallery and he loved them so much he wants me to do 30 more pieces!! I couldn't believe it, I was floored and then he went on to say after that, they'll buy any piece I come up with as fast I can get them made! Also, I had made up a few treasure maps on the side just for fun and I brought him in a sample, and he wants to put those in his store also! I can't believe it, I'm beside myself right now!! Cowgirl

Here are some pictures of my work that a few of you wanted to see, the 1st pic is what it looks like after I've built the body and applied the papier mache and the other two pics are the finished product, sorry the pics are so big, I don't know how to make them smaller.........................

Herbiejuan........pussified???? Lol!! I want it simplified!!! Act2 and Bowtwi, you're thinking like me, just some good ole' tires and some paint and some of that duct tape to keep it all together, can't get much simpler than that!! It's the guys like WhiteDove, Goey and Herbiejuan that want to add all that fancy stuff and turn it into a man's go-kart, kind of makes me think of "Tim the Toolman" on Home Improvement! Although Ckeer had a great idea! In fact I bet if a few of us women here at GS got together, we could come up with quite the go-kart that would leave the men behind in our dust !! LOL!! Maybe something like this.................... THE MEN VERSUS THE WOMEN

This is more of what I had in mind !!

When I was growing up, we had homemade go-karts, we'd race down some pretty good slopes, it was a blast!! Eventually we graduated to a go-kart with a lawn mower engine, talk about awesome!! Anyways I was thinking about starting a go-kart project with each of my boys, just real basic to begin with. Does anyone have any experience or ideas when it comes to building them, nothing fancy mind you, four wheels, a flat body with some sides, steering wheel or the rope that turns the wheels, you know that kind of thing. Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks Cowgirl

Sunnyfla, interesting topic!! In my opinion, I have the best job in the whole world! I love what I do!! When all my kids are off at school, I sit on a little wooden stool up at the table in the kitchen, with my hands totally covered in a homemade paste, shaping all different size animals and then sanding them and painting them, (papier mache) I love working with my hands. As far as conversation goes, I talk to myself (lol!), if people drop by that's great, I can still work away at what I'm doing, pick my own hrs, sometimes I'm in my pj's working into the wee hrs in the morning, crank up the music (which I always do) Cowgirl
