1. FreeAtLast You said "I also feel in the marriage situation that the man is the head. "....................I can't say I agree with that, according to Twi's interpretation of the man being the head, it was that the man was to have the final say and make all the decisions and even if the man was wrong, you were to stand behind him and give him your full support, as far as my thinking goes it was a no-win situation for the woman. When my ex and I dropped from the way-corp our country co-ordinator came out to try and talk us into going back, my ex wanted to go back, I didn't and the country-cordinator lit into me saying "It doesn't matter what you as the wife wants, forget all your dreams and goals, you are married and you need to do what your husband wants, doesn't matter what you want" I don't believe for a minute that Twi's interpretation of the "head" is anywheres near accurate, in my opinion I think partner or equal, would fit the bill. I'm not a feminist by any means but if I ever get into a relationship where the man things he is the head over me or can lord over me because that's what they think the Bible means, then I'm out of here, even if that's the true meaning of the word, I will never marry again then. I feel I have alot to bring to a marriage or a relationship but not at the cost of being stifled or a chance to be my own person, it's not worth it. FreeAtLast, just in case you think I might be lashing out at you, I'm not at all, I think it's a real good question, it's just that it really hits a nerve with me when women think they have to be under the authority of a man. It doesn't make any sense, you leave home to be out on your own, and you do great, no one lording over you, telling you what to do, you meet someone, get married and then all of a sudden they are in charge of every decision and thought you make? No thanks!!
2. "That describes them pretty well" DMiller.............Behave yourself!! Cowgirl
3. Sounds like Hitler and his "super race of people" he wanted so badly, he wanted total control over the invidual and if you didn't measure up or conform to his ways you were toast!! Cowgirl
4. I just finished watching "The Man from Snowy River" and am about to watch the second one "Return to Snowy River" I had long forgotten about these movies, Wow, the scenery, the music, the story!! Absolutely love it!! http://www.tomburlinson.homestead.com/file...eed_snowy_2.jpg

6. Mood-Easy Rider......takes on life as it comes, living in the moment, creative and believe in self expression, see the little masterpieces in everyday life, as far as music, it's the soundtrack to your world. Fun-Conqueror...love physical activity, you've got a real spirit for adventure, keeping a clear head and a healthy body matters, for kicks you like to switch off and immerse yourself in another world, like to look at life from another perspective, when it comes to holidays you'll take experience over comfort everytime whether under canvas or the stars, you like the chance to be in the wilderness, full of ambition and energy. Habits-Junkie Monkey.....Clean, pure-your choice of drink, shows that on the whole you care about your health, as for the home you favor a cozy-homespun look, don't have rules and don't like restrictions, you make your own choices and do as you please. Love-Love bug....a real romantic and a bit of a dreamer, love is about devotion and tenderness, you try to show your feelings in simple things everyday, your heart is right there on your sleeve, when you think of freedom you think of being in charge of your direction, the open road and a full tank of gas can take you pretty much anywhere. You are the type to fall in love a thousand times a day, your feelings snowball quickly and you are full of passion. I would have to agree that's aleast for myself it's pretty accurate. **Thanks GT, that was alot of fun!!
7. Remember tongues is for a sign to the unbeliever but if you don't give the interpretation, we're going think you're all mad!!
8. Hi Doojable! I just found what you had said interesting, I wasn't trying to say because of the way you do your art pieces that you were an idealist or a realist, I was just addressing what you said, separately. Cowgirl
9. Hi Dooj ! You had said "As an artist I am trained to see - really see what is in front of me." I find this so interesting in a very good way, as an artist myself, I see or I picture the finished piece already in my mind before I even begin to take it on, or another way to put it is I already know what the piece is going to look like completed, before I've even taken steps to start it, and you see it differently if I understand correctly what you wrote. In regards to an idealist and an realist, I guess I kind of look at the idealist as one who goes outside of the nine dots but DOESN'T necessarily NOT think things through, they tend to look at the big picture and may not always count the cost but they can still pick themselves up if it doesn't quite turn out they way they wanted it to. I'm not saying one is better than the other, just that I have a problem when people start telling me it can't be done, well then let me find that out on my own, that's part of the adventure plus you never know what doors are going to open up in the middle of getting there, anyways that's just my thoughts on it. 10. I was just reading some stuff on this topic and I would definitely have to consider myself an idealist. I like to dream big and believe in my heart that anything is possible if you want it that bad. The only thing stopping you from achieving what you want is between your ears. I have a friends who I would say are realists and they are forever trying to "burst the bubble" with, "it's not going to work, you'll never get it, it won't happen etc. and if I listen to them long enough they just dampen any dreams or excitement I have in my life. So I try not to listen too long and I don't let their opinion sway me. I like to live my life on the edge a bit, but at the same time I don't do things that would harm me. I don't want to live my life with a pile of "ifs" or regrets, I would rather have than have not taken the road less traveled, maybe that's just the way I'm wired. So why am I starting this thread, I don't know, but it just picks my butt when someone comes along and gets negative about what I want in my life and they don't understand all the possibilities and why things can't happen. So as I was saying I was doing some reading on the subject and I just can't see the excitement in being a realist, it's too confining. So what are you....an idealist or a realist and why? Cowgirl

I'm looking into taking up belly dancing for fun and a good ab workout instead of the usual crunches etc. It looks like alot of fun and I've had an interest in it for quite awhile. Has anyone here taken up bellydancing through a class or on DVD and if so how did you like it, fun-wise and as an ab workout? Cowgirl

Long Name Song ?

If I knew how to correctly spell the title of these two songs , I would look up the lyrics on the net but I don't so I am asking anyone here if they know the lyrics. They are both kid's songs and please excuse the spelling, I'm looking for the rest of the lyrics to teach them to my kids. First one is..... Madalencadalenaburgenstirehoganmoganlogan was her name and then the rest of the lyrics follow and the other one is Eddiecoutchicaminarisamitackiwackibrown was his name and then the rest of the lyrics again. Has anybody heard of these songs growing up or am I just losing my mind? Cowgirl

18. Hi Dot! That's really unfortuntate in regards to that happening in your neightborhood, I feel for you. To answer your question, there are gangs here in the major cities like Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Toronto but not to the extent the US has them. I live in a small town population of about 6,ooo so there is nothing like that going on here. For the most part when I have lived in the big cities, I felt pretty safe walking the streets by myself in the evening. But I'm sure there are places that I am unaware of that I wouldn't be showing my face at. Our gun laws are very different from yours so that might have something to do with having a lesser crime rate and the population is alot less in Canada, around 28 million, which is about the same number of people that just live in California so you'd have to figure out the ratio of people per capita. All in all I've heard many times that Canada is a pretty peaceful living country. Hope that helps answer your question Take care Cowgirl

Romantic Oldies

I want to say THANKS SO MUCH to everyone that contributed, I've got a great collection now!!! The reason I was after that particular kind of music, is I find the music is so mellow, I'm an incurable romantic, and I like the sounds of it as I'm working away on my art pieces and spring is on the way!! So thanks, I really appreciate it!! Ex...........I used to listen to that song over and over growing up, I loved it but I can't seem to find the person or people who did it the way I had heard it, it's orginally done by Rod McKuen but I don't particularily care for the way her does it. Have you heard it done by anyone else besides him? Cowgirl

Romantic Oldies

WOW!!! These are all fantastic especially the ones that were done in the 50's and 60's, the newer ones are great but I'm especially looking for the oldies right now. Sudo, what a great voice and great song, who is the lady and what is the movie? I have a favor to ask of you, in your repitroire of oldies would you happen to have "Jean" done by Rod McKuen, it's from the movie "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" Thanks everyone, for all your contributions, keep em coming!!
