"Factor in the twi deficit," HC, I love it, hehe.

Wonderful point Catcup. I've often thought the same. How did they instill that **false sense of responsibility** in us? Gosh, we just thought we were responsible for everybody and everything, didn't we? LOL! I'm so glad to be free of that.

reikilady, i love your resolve! what field are you looking in now? another option might be answering phones, receptionist type positions. with your personality, you should go far!

Belle, all, One of the most common waybrain's for me is feeling a false sense of responsibility about something/anything that comes over me sometimes. It's very subtle. Fortunately, those times are farther and farther between, but it's still irritating when I find myself doing it.

Theories on Victor Paul Wierwille’s Spirituallity
waterbuffalo replied to sirguessalot's topic in About The Way
Actually, I think he was an abusive alcoholic. He, in my opinion, was literally sick (no rock throwing intended, just trying to understand him in a kinder way). -

Laleo, Yes, I suppose I knew some of it was going on amongst us college students--so what was new? But, not vp!!!!! That was unthinkable that he would (1) do it with the flock and (2) that so many adults in the group wouldn't have found out and spilled the beans. Afterall, Dr. Weingarner, Dr. what'sername--obgyn, the Strauhaul's, the Lynn's, and the list goes on and on. These sure all looked like respectable people to me who wouldn't have stood for something like that. So, yeah, I was deceived. -

sirguess, You sound like an educator or a psychologist and the multiple intelligences theory could explain some of it. Thanks for the new insight and for going beneath the surface a bit. I think you make some valid points. wb -
Theories on Victor Paul Wierwille’s Spirituallity

Ohmygosh! I was there, at Ball State and had forgotten about that part of it. Maybe the shock of who was pronounced as the next president, erased the rest. I don't know. Thank you for bringing that up. Yes, that explains why I would think that about him, that he was respectable and unjustly persecuted by the press and religious leaders--and Mrs. vp was always there with him right by his side to back him up. Please check your pt, too gray. -

Too Gray, since you were there in the early days, what percentage do you think knew about the closed door shenanagins going on? Didn't most people believe it was a good Christian group and vp was beyond reproach? That's what I thought. -

This is a classic "manifestation" of an alcoholic. Raf, good point. Belle, I see what you mean. It was a progression, wasn't it? Sorta like thinking "life is short, eat dessert first" kinda thing, and then it gets outta control? Is that what you meant? -

Sirguess, I enjoyed reading your interpretation very much of vps life and works. I'm still trying to figure out if you're hindu, buddist, souphie (i know that's the wrong spelling), because some of the things you're saying sound familiar, just can't place them. The part about not to keep paying him/them with our scorn seems valid enough. Throwing away those old boxes of offenses in our house makes it smell a lot better and eases up some or lots of that old pain caused by the wounds. I suppose we all throw them out when we get ready, in our own time, if you will. Good subject. It's always challenging to forget about it and then not get taken in again by the same sort, as rascal pointed out, as many have in twi offshoots. We actually have now had to disassociate ourselves with some ex-twi "ministers" who proclaimed to do everthing differently in their group, but in reality, when they had a church, they lost it because they went to Golden Correll every Sunday after church, with a few select "spiritual ones" and discussed the flock and named all the demons they thought they had. Just still doing the same 'ole way thing over and over again--hadn't changed a bit. Apparently they were impressed because wierwille's ways stuck with them. Good subject. -
Unfortunately, this seems to describe what Mark has become. When I knew him, he was just an unprofessional, uneducated window washer, BUT, BUT, BUT, a nice guy. Sounds like he's pronouncing Christian curses on people now. There's a really good book on how to rid yourself of the influence by Dennis Cramer. It's my next "read." So sad. Blue, send me a pt if you want to borrow it.

Congrats, Susie!!!!! :D-->

Hey, Do you still have any more of those books on the Haight Asbury history that discusses Doop's and Heefner's involvement and starting subsequent Christian groups with Vineyard split offs, etc? Couldn't remember if you had the books so forgive me if you weren't the one selling 'em. wb

def, he defines envy in the first paragraph and says its not the same as jealousy. I have no idea how this author "runs his ship" but I like to read his articles. I seem to remember thinking he does things similar to twi1 once when reading how he dealt with someone who worked for him. I suppose it's harder to practice than to preach for all of us.
