Article about Anger Manipulation-Disqualifies Ldrship
waterbuffalo replied to waterbuffalo's topic in About The Way
Yeah, I thought so too, outandabout and Belle. Also, he made it clear he was referring to those who had a pattern of anger, not just far and few between outbursts. ---just about nailed it, huh? -
You can take you out of the Way, but can you take the Way out of you?

Article about Anger Manipulation-Disqualifies Ldrship

I know, this subject has been talked to death here at the cafe, but I thought this author went at it from a slightly different angle and I appreciated his take on people who do this are really just working out of the works of the flesh. He also seems to prove that this disqualifies them from leadership. Yeah, WW, he calls it demonic. Interesting that there are now really good articles on this sort of thing so it must indicate there are other "Christians" out there doing some of this anger/control stuff--probably nothing new under the sun, huh? -
...no, Steve!, I didn't know that! but please post on everyone. this is a fun thread to read and it's nice having such intelligent friends who know much more than i do.

This is a really good article about leadership in the church and "outbursts of anger." I didn't put it in doctrinal because anger in leadership was part of the twi machine so thought it belonged here. You can take you out of the Way, but can you take the Way out of you?

Mr. H, Yep. Sometimes I wonder where those words came from that come out of my mouth, too, but it's happening less and less frequently. Maybe I'm actually recovering. Hope so. -
Yes. Have it. Love it. :)--> Ex70s, rock on brotha!

Toadfriend lives not too far from Charlotte--would email her, but don't have it anymore. She might want to play if anyone hears from her.

Thanks for the EDucation, Trefor. I'd always thought the royal's last name was what Zixar said. But, since you're from Wales...maybe you are right.

Al, who was that gal in the 11th Corps who would come and go as she pleased--flying in, flying out--but wasn't required to really DO the Corps program or even BE there most of the time? Remember her? Don't know if she's famous, but she was pretty well to do (the duplicity thing you brought up again).

Oh gosh--two in one place--go figure. WHAT did you ever do to deserve THAT? You should be one tough cookie when you come out on the positive side of living through that environment someday. :)-->

ohmygosh! I thought she got the axe, WG? She's still there? most embarrrassing moment? no one here would probably think it was funny (because we're all so politically correct, you know), but I was at a pj party in 6th grade and we were eating all kinds ofjunk and my stomach was getting more and more upset and i was sitting in the middle of the room around 11:30pm and all of us were talking and laughing and then out of nowhere i moved to go to the bathrm and suddenly, for no apparent reason, at the same exact moment, the room got completely silent and a, what we used to referred to at LEAD as a RMA occurred in the loudest possible way. I WAS MORDIFIED. WHAT WAS I TO DO???? Someone asked, "Who WAS that" and the room erupted in laughter. I just sat there hoping no one would know and then I knew how Peter felt when the women began to say, "It was you. I know it was you" and so I denied it, denied it, denied it. :o-->

GrouchoMarx, Jr., thanks for bringing that up. I ran into this term this semester and also thought about my experience with twi. As most of you probably already know, "learned helplessness" is used when people with disabilities begin to rely on their supports, usually people, who help them to do certain things and then they no longer try to do for themselves. I looked it up in the glossary and it is defined as: "A phenomenon in which individuals gradually, usually as a result of repeated failure or control by others, become less willing to attempt tasks." Yep. That about sums it up. Sure, we can all look back now and say, "Why did I let them do that" but on some level it was more of a subconscious decision I believe on my part. We were conditioned to do things in twi a certain way and then, even though they were painful, we continued to do them. I remember some taught the "what I would do I do not and what I hate, I do" version of Romans a lot which contributed to my "it's not supposed to feel good to be a Christian dilemma." I remember many days wondering what ever happened to the more abundant life I thought I was getting into!

Happy Birthday, Reikilady. Hope it is the best one you've ever had :)-->

Lisa Morgan was sweet. I knew her in the CD.

Thanks for clearing that up, Trefor, although it's still a bit confusing to me

well, imho, i think someone could give you a word, meaning the Holy Spirit could literally give you a message to give to someone else and I don't think there is really any formula regarding when you could get it--only you don't know ahead of time you're going to get it and then it's there and you give it to the individual it's intended for. The times I've been given something for someone else, it was for someone in my church that I had a relationship with and it was very brief and to the point and they received a confirmation regarding it. Again, I don't try to operate formulas anymore because, imho, that's not how the Holy Spirit works. I don't believe it's because they weren't listening. It might be because they were and what I said just confirmed it many times. Also, regarding people lining up and receiving a word--I mean it could be accurate, why not? When it has been for me, it rang true and I knew it. I don't know how CES does it.

Jim, my cousin, after all these years, has asked me about my time in twi and I was very happy to hear about your book. This will give me the proper background concerning the move of the Holy Spirit that existed at that time and how vp hooked up with certain, spirit filled Christians, to promote his class. This is great! When do you plan to release it?
