Maybe they think it's competitive pay . . . why do I have more of the feeling they've got him trained like a circus bear.. my impression was he was not capable of responding to anything more than "you're the greatest.. preach da word man.." what I wonder is.. what's he gonna do when the "handlers" are dead.. How can that possibly help anyone? Here's a little something from their site: ******************************* The S.O.W.E.R.S. program is full time 24/7. Generally, 4 hours work/ 4 hours study per day. Various challenging program opportunities and projects. During session, students will be provided room and board. Students will need to provide for their own needs beyond room and board. Program to be administered on an honor basis. Any volunteer may be dismissed at any time and/or program cancelled [sic] at sole discretion of those charged with oversight. Lots of "red flags", IMO Lot's of red flags for me too waysider. The ones that gets my goat the most right now is the old Way Corps mindset of, #1 Leaders have ALL THE AUTHORITY. #2 Leaders have ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, #3 Leaders own the "volunteers" (note the 24/7 part.) #4 Leader need feel no sense of responsibilty to the "volunteers" for what the volunteers give up to participate. Gee, I don't F'in care what anybody thinks of the JUNIOR GRADE COMMANDANT, this system is bad and prone to go abusive....period.
