Still banging on about "faith" and "believing." They might want to pay attention to the book of James, specifically at ch.2.
Quote
14What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith, but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,” but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that? 17So too, faith by itself, if it does not result in action,f is dead.
18But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
Unfortunately we know all too well what are TWI's deeds and works. And the only physical needs that are provided for are the adulterous needs of leaders.
Let's see some of their faith/believing/call it what you will, by them first apologising for past behaviour, seeking out their victims with genuine remorse, and now getting on with genuinely helping their local community without any expectation of reward or recognition. Without doubt there will be homeless, impoverished or hungry people within a very short radius of HQ; families who are in "heat or eat" mode or have other financial difficulties; those who can't afford medical bills, etc.
"Since the 1970s, The Way International has been engaged in a Biblical study of the Greek wordpistis, most often translated “faith” in the King James Version of the Bible, to understand its accurate usage in the New Testament. The words “faith” and “believing” in the King James and other versions of the Bible are used interchangeably; however, they are not synonymous. One concern has been that the current English usage of the word “faith” implies no believing action, which the context of many of the occurrences ofpistisshows in the Scriptures. Many on the ministry research team continued working this topic over the years, seeking to understand the different uses and usages of this wordpistisand the different Bible kinds of faith"
The Way continues to build on the "Gospel of Faith" movement.... that Victor Paul Wierwille took from Kenyon, Cliffe and many others.
Hi Joe, I think you're referring to the "Word of Faith" movement? The link below is a little more narrative about it and exposes it as gravely wrong thinking/believing. Says it was promoted by E.W. Kenyon... although there were others.
I have to catch myself doing the "name it and claim it" routine... it's still so ingrained in my head and a very bad habit. It could have elements of "the sin of presumption" which is a big no-no in the catholic church. Part of the healing process for me, has been to read and memorize catholic prayers...

All they research is OTHER PEOPLE'S WORK.

For those people who think that the PLAGIARISM stopped with vpw -who plagiarized just about EVERYTHING he ever taught-
THIS IS PLAGIARIZED from chris geer. Complete with the plagiarized title. They didn't even bother to change the name.
When vpw plagiarized 2 of Bullinger's papers to make "Are the Dead Alive Now?", he at least changed the title.
He was lazy enough to keep the question format for it, but he changed the title.
They didn't even bother to do that.
Oh, but they don't do the harmful things they did before. Yeah, right. If they're doing this, they're still getting away
with anything their lawyers say they can still do. The only real changes have been to quiet their lawyers.
Outside of twi, I've never heard of a church group who does the right thing on advice of their lawyers, or are less moral and nice than their lawyers.
