The New Poster

John and Meg K*sh are still in and coordinating a fellowship.

That poster is truly ugly, disturbing and difficult to look at. I am so glad it isn't going to be hanging in my living room.

Looking at the poster and the stuff on the website, it appears as though they are really pushing "workmanship" and "servantude" which means they are asking more and more of people again. They honeymoon is over, they want them getting back to WORK.

Witness, clean leadership houses, mow leadership yards, open homes for "coffee houses", classes and fellowship, plan to go into the wc training program, spend so much time with their study materials that they don't have time to do anything else and realize how abused they really are.

Sad, truly pathetic. Is anyone even smiling in that poster and what century is it supposed to be in the poster?

Yeah, but can't you just hear them "ooohhh"-ing and "aaaaahhhhh"-ing over how "blessed" they are to have it and how excited they are about the annual hanging of the poster in their living room?

The applause at the ceremonial unveiling of the poster must have been absolutely deafening (even in the living rooms where branches and limbs gathered to pretend they were at the actual service).

Perhaps in some manner the poster really does provoke a deep reverence in the heart of present-day Way dwellers.

JustThinkin brought up the most profound point earlier - what is the significance of that darn "Gorton Fisherman"?

Is the Gorton Fisherman actually symbolic of their "Jesus"? Jesus was indeed a fisherman.

So when obeying the Gorton-Way-Fisher-Jesus, we are to "catch" people and roll them in "bread-of-life" crumbs and then bake them in an oven at 425 degrees for 20 minutes -- 450 degrees if baking tater tots on the bottom rack at the same time.

Gorton-Fisher-Jesus indeed has the potential to become a successful mascot or symbol, akin to KFC's Colonel Sanders. That is, if they don't first get sued by Gorton products...

By Cherished Child

quote:
"Teaching, Prayer, and words of comfort and edification" huh, John?....What about WORSHIP? When was the last time, anyone recalls having actually worshiped God in a TWI fellowship?

Oh.....have you hit a note in my mind. Remember that STUPID song "True Worshippers"? It's all about twi being "true" worshippers because they speak in tongues. Once leaving twi, I realized what a bunch of crap that really is. I don't dis speaking in tongues, but I don't think it's our MAIN line of communication with God. When I pour my heart out to God IN MY OWN LANGUAGE, I think He likes it even more because I am pouring my heart out to Him and giving myself to Him. I love to do this through song. Praise and worship in song is my favorite part of church (even over the Bible teaching.icon_eek.gif) It has more connection with God for me. A lot of times I was left empty with speaking in tongues because I didn't understand. I didn't feel part of the conversation. But I really think I know what true worship is now. It makes me think of when David poured his heart out to God in Psalms.

WayferNot!,

So you are saying that a cold-hearted, money-grubbing witch who speaks in tongues is less impressive to God than a kind, sincere person who truly loves Him but speaks in English?

You are obviously not in a prevailing mindset. Reread all of your collaterals while staring at a picture of the Board Of Dustys until you've renewed your mind.

Don't expect it soon, CC. It's all about spin in the Way. They're soft peddling they're swill. Can't bring themselves to form a clear sentence, wouldn't be prudent, right? It's just hilarious that they'd get a highlight in a video series that features successful businesses in the U.S. Successful at what? Panty raids? Law suits? Ducking and hiding? Running a Museum of Bad Arts? After all these years not a one of them can get a decent head of steam up so's as to at least appear like they've got something relevant or important to offer that they're excited about. They look, speak and act dead. Rupp looks like a deer in the head lights and his next big move of the day will be a bowel movement. Don't get me started about Rosalie or Harve. They look like somebody propped them up and made them speak in to the camera. And I'm not being critical - I expected to see some flicker of the flames that burned so bright in their youth but apparently it's all fizzled out in the wax of the makeup they have plastered on for the camera. Which made me feel good in a depraved sort of way because it's good to know that they need that much. I mean honestly, my neighbor was more animated this week talking about his new fence than these guys are talking about what they believe is a new day in the Way.

Gorton's fisherman. icon_biggrin.gif:D--> icon_biggrin.gif:D--> So true!! That picture is all about what the Way is all about. Busy work. Rows and rows of people keeping busy doing God doesn't know what. One guy planting while another guy throws dirt on it.

And I believe that it is this obvious absence of heart-felt worship of God, fellowship with Jesus Christ, joy of heart, and genuine love for one another (not the huggy/fake kissy---"god bless, you're the best as long as you agree with us, but I'll dump your A$$ without a backward glance as soon as leadership tells me to", type of love). People are bound to see that something is terribly amiss when they attend these dry rituals called, "Way Fellowships". That's why people rarely stick around after an initial experience. If you're looking to be spiritually nourished, it soon becomes infinitely obvious that you won't be receiving much more than the spiritual equivalent of a baloney sandwich at The Way. This is why current followers can't bring themselves to enthusiastically witness anymore---deep down, they know that the only reasons they themselve continue to attend Way fellowships, is the sheer inertia generated by habit of ritual, the long ingrained assumption that "the word can't be found anywhere else", smug belief that God favors them above "other Christians", and fear that walking away from The Way will end that favored status.

This poster seems VERY weird indeed. The characters seem like those one would find on a commune, but the weird part is that most of them are dressed like the Amish (another cult), save for the "security guard" guy. In the stream, there seems to be a word, "nOAH", at least that's what it looks like to me.

Then there's that strange cloud formation. At first glance, it would seem that "the lord" is looking down upon them. Then again, I can see how someone could take it as some sort of phalic symbol desparately in need of viagra.

The prominent title says "Building Biblical Understanding", but when looking at the depiction, these guys apparently can't agree on what the heck they're building, if anything. From my point of view, the depiction looks like a fugitive from someone's nightmare.

Just a thought...

Steve.
