I was raised by a toothless, bearded hag
I was schooled with a strap right across my back

I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead
I fell down to my feet and I saw they bled
I frowned at the crumbs of a crust of bread
Yeah, yeah, yeah
I was crowned with a spike right thru my head

This is in the wrong thread then.  It should have been in recognized from one line.  I'm sorry about that.

So here's the one or two liner that should do it.

" I was born in cross-fire hurricane
And I howled at my ma in the driving way"

You are right WordWolf, it is definitely a song by The Rolling Stones.

One, two!

I was born in a crossfire hurricane
And I howled at my ma in the drivin' rain

But it's all right now, in fact it's a gas

"I'm JUMPING JACK FLASH, it's a gas-gas-gas!"    by The Rolling Stones.

There's a series of books where a bunch of authors imagined a realistic world that had super-heroes.  It was accurate to history, until an alien virus was accidentally released. Of every 100 people affected, 90 mutated fatally and died ("drew a Black Queen.")  Of the remaining 10, 9 mutated and got a deformity, sometimes with a power ("drew a Joker.")  The remaining 1 got a super-power without a deformity ("drew an Ace.")  In the Wild Cards series, one Ace's power allowed him to transform, and each transformation was a completely different person, with completely different powers. Each was named after a song, and most were obscure songs.  The exceptions were "Aquarius"  and "Jumping Jack Flash." JJ Flash's powers centered around "fire" (super-hot plasma), and the chorus of the song was occasionally recited when he showed up to rescue someone, or whatever.  So "It's a gas-gas=gas" always makes me think of the character.

Next song.

"I met a young child beside a dead pony.
I met a white man who walked a black dog.
I met a young woman whose body was burning.
I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow.
I met one man who was wounded in love,
I met another man who was wounded in hatred."

You've had a busy day!  :biglaugh:

"I heard the sound of a thunder, that roared out a warnin'.
I heard the roar of a wave that could drown the whole world.
I heard one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazin'.
I heard ten thousand whisperin' and nobody listenin'.
I heard one person starve, I heard many people laughin'.
Heard the song of a poet who died in the gutter.
Heard the sound of a clown who cried in the alley."

I met a white man who walked a black dog.
I met a young woman whose body was burning.

I do better with the songs that aren't so familiar when I give them a day and then come back to them.  Today the voice in my head was much clearer and since I like to listen to Bob Dylan I could place the song.  I don't know what it is when it comes to Bob Dylan's music, but I used to think the songs like A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, Idiot Wind, and Visions of Johanna were just [well, for lack of a better word] idiotic, too long and drawn out.  However, after giving them more than a few listens I find these songs to be some of my favorites.  It just grows on you.  I've got another one.

What a tale your thoughts could tell
Just like a paperback novel
The kind the drugstore sells
When you reach the part where the heartaches
Come the hero would be me

Heroes often fail
And you won't read that book again
Because the endings just to hard to take

I'd walk away like a movie star
Who gets burned in a three way script
Enter number two, a movie queen
To play the scene of bringing
All the good things out in me

All the good things out in me

I never thought I could act this way
And I've got to say that I just don't get it
I don't know where we went wrong
But the feelings gone and I just can't get it back

What a tale my thoughts could tell
Just like an old time movie
About a ghost from a wishing well
In a castle dark or a fortress strong
With chains upon my feet the story always ends

I'm not going to wonder about you now George, at least now I think you know that you should know this, or anyone else for that matter.  The thing is now I don't know how I can help you anymore with this one.  The rest of the song is the title.  How about I give you a clue about the author maybe that will help.  He's Canadian, no not Neil Young.  He's a folk song writer.
