Serenity? Too many movies I've never heard of, lol. Never heard of a Serendipity, either, for that matter. Guess that's why I'm so hit and miss in this forum, narrow frame of reference.
Actually, "Firefly" was on FOX, though the SciFi Channel re-ran it a year or two ago, including some episodes that didn't air before it was cancelled. Joss Whedon has a lot of pull to get a movie made of a cancelled TV show (not including Star Trek!).
Serenity was the name of his spaceship and the name of the movie.

Serenity was a movie based ona sci-fi TV show called 'FireFox' or 'FireFly' it was syndicated so it might have been a tad obscure.
