There's someone in my head, but it's not me

Actually, the right answer is there (well, a combination of a couple of them).

Sane? A matter of opinion.

Looking for answers? Not really. Got all I need for the moment. I'm sure tomorrow will have some more questions requiring investigation though.

OK. I'll take a look at it again tomorrow, or is that today by now??

That explains the voices

Only happened to me once. I was DEATHLY afraid of needles.. I absolutely HATE (ok, maybe just dislike) them, and had to get blood drawn for a test.

The closer I got to the place, the worse it got..

I could almost hear the voices, "run, run for your life!!!!"..

Still hate needles.

So Bob, do we have an agreement here? No needles, no voices. icon_biggrin.gif:D-->

funny poll, Bob

i couldn't vote (though i enjoy PF)

but am intrigued by the ideas of the thread

permit a tad rant...

it seems as if that "someone is in my head and its not me" is pretty much literally true for each and every one of us

each of us has a "me" in our head...which is more or less a construct of our own thoughts and experiences.

But never the "truest self" itself, but instead, some sort of limited expression or representation of self.

we each hold an amazingly capable "thinker," like this. like some sort of a master of light and sound.

capable of making vast vast worlds, and quite easily

and it seems, that when it comes to finding some sense of our truest self beyond the thinker

(the elusive "me" you refer to in the title of this thread),

i have found that a useful kind of thing to ask might be:

"who, then, is watching the thinker?"

and when you find a someone, perhaps ask again:

"who then is watching that?"

in the end, we might find that there is always someone in our head, and it is never "me,"

and this is might even be considered some sort of good news

(especially once we find a place to sit and relax)

There's someone in my head,

Can it really be me?

Wondering how the hell,

I can finally be free.

From all the past,

That seems to last,

Into eternity?

I've been here,

I've been there,

Seems I've been most everywhere.

But given the crap that I've been fed,

Here I am,

Still in my head.

Looking hard,

Looking fierce,

I see the boundaries I need to pierce.

Walls come down,

Fall to the floor.

I step over them,

And now go forth.

Off into the bright sunlight

I now rejoice with no more night.

What was once there

In my head.

Now is gone.

Buried and dead.

Even though I like Bluegrass, I could come up with a *rock* version of these lyrics. icon_smile.gif:)-->

There are commonly other folks in my head.

And I enter and use other folk's heads from time to time as well.

I should imagine that were I to visit your home, I might well use your head too.

If perchance you ever have occasion to visit my home, you are most certainly welcome to enter and to use my head.

I commonly visit the local American Legion and when I do I usually end up entering and using their head. Their 'Men's Head that is.

This summer I have been living in our motorhome (while building our new home) and the head in my Motorhome is currently not functioning correctly :-(

I imagine after two or three quarts of beer, you may have a little bit of a problem FINDING the head.

Of course, you may be highly motivated. icon_biggrin.gif:D-->
