  1. If it wasn't about you, then there wouldn't be talk about a thread going to "the dungeon", as if it was a pejorative term for the move. Your challenges are not responded-to because nobody feels like responding to them. You've used up what little goodwill you were given, and nobody has any confidence you've anything of substance to add....which you're adding after some wild goose-chase. For someone who supposedly has gone to different sources, it's interesting that what you think is even worth discussing is not only in the "duh" category, it's still out of pfal, ripped off of Bullinger. John 4:24 "God is a Spirit". So, God Almighty being "The Holy Spirit" is not only obvious, it's straight out of Bullinger, and thus, straight out of pfal when it ripped off Bullinger. And you want someone to play your silly-@$$ games, only to end up with "gems" like that one. Seriously, if that's what you have to offer, it's REMEDIAL at best. It's like having a small child post here, playing coy about some secret, and when it's revealed, it's something we've all heard before. Often.

  3. YW Mike. And as VPW "might" say is one of those 'literals according to usage' Now then we are ambassadors for the physically absent Jesus Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in the physically absent Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

  4. Impossible for Mike to attempt to explain anything "quickly" and doubly impossible for him to explain without obfuscating with further irrelevancies. It's all about Mike.

  6. Well, you were taught wrong. But that's ok. You don't have to cling to that teaching anymore. You can, indeed, go beyond what you were taught. It's not always about emphasis. Often it's about poetry. It's about illustration. It's about descriptive conveyance of meaning that a literal construction just can't convey. If chosing to use a figure of speech for emphasis causes confusion, then you should write plainly, say what you mean and mean what you say, otherwise, you risk emphasizing confusion.

  7. Silly question: If you can't go beyond what you're taught, what's the point of doing Biblical research?

  9. Some of us look at Jesus Christ and his accomplishments. Some of us also look at our magnificent God and his wonderful works. Some of us read various versions of the Bible to try to get a fuller picture and understanding. Some of us study other people's theological thinking, and then check that out. Some of us look at the Christ in our Christian brothers and sisters, and endeavour to learn from them, too. But... Some look at thieves, bullies, and corrupt individuals. Some are still stuck in a rut that has ever deepening sides, such that the bigger picture gets smaller and smaller.

  11. Appreciate your questioning and honest minds, Raf and T-Bone. I do think that codified religion and many hierarchical church systems are a big turn-off. And that includes TWI's branch of hierarchy. There are times (and many Christians admit to this) when you wonder (or doubt) why you believe something, why you believe in God, whether it's all a big con job. In the same way, perhaps, as one wonders why they're married to this annoying person, why they don't walk out on these disruptive kids, why they don't just get rid of the annoying pet. And then, the wonderer remembers why they choose to believe rather than doubt, to stay, to keep, etc. That's honestly loving. Do we not make loving God too complex with manmade rules, strictures, words, robes, etc? And we forget, sometimes, that it's not just a personal, individual love, but a corporate / community love too. A way of living with other people. Micah 6:8 What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Matt 7:12 In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets Mark 12:30,31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ f 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ g There is no commandment greater than these. 2 Cor 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means [including over-complicated churchy stuff], as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Raf, you act in a loving, kind way, taking care of your wife and kids, trying to avoid fights and looking after the needy. You're keeping it simple, bro. I respect your position (just as I respect the position of a friend of mine, a muslim convert from Catholicism), know the reasons why, but I don't properly comprehend the decisions either of you made.
