  1. Life is NOT about being perpetually chained to a group because one doesn't want to lose God's "hedge of protection." If you want to stay attached to twi because you genuinely love the lifestyle, more power to you. But if you harbor hidden cognitive dissonance, you CAN break free and won't be in any more danger from the trials of life if you go. This brief discussion of (emotional) antifragility may help. There is light at the end of the tunnel. There are communities where people understand and relate to what you've been through.

  3. For someone who has bragged about all the time he spent studying written PLAF you sure didn't learn a lot. God cannot lie because God is light and in Him there's no darkness. Lying would be considered darkness, as there are many verses prohibiting it.

  4. I can't remember. Did the snow storm incident, where God spoke audibly to Wierwille, happen before or after he said he had given up on the bible? edit: I hope you don't sense my outrage.

  5. Yeah Mike is really going hard in the paint on this one. It must be an area they really want to cover up with static with the new class just starting to run Why did they or did they not include the born of wrong seed stuff? Is there a faux research by editorial selection going on with the new stuff? But wait, that was an integral part of the snowstorms from the first century

  7. For those new to the harassmatic movement I recommend you start out small - speak in LoShonta and handle worms… …Then on to expeller’s sessions - projectile vomiting alphabet soup You’ll know you’re really really virtually ready for the Adverb Class when you can easily and redundantly pile on word salads and remember oil and vinegar don’t mix but nonsense and beeswax do / does / / did / have / has or had before on other threads snakes is as snakes does

  8. OMG! You are one funny dude! If I had a nickel for every time you caused me to spray my keyboard with coffee, I'd have...uhhh, a whole bunch of nickels. (I hope I didn't sound too outraged.)

  9. So...God Almighty limits himself to protect people from the adversary. That's like a man limiting himself to protect his kids against a home invasion. Makes no sense.

  11. "And it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Noah and said, "Build me an ark to the designated specifications." "But, alas, Noah, unable to hear Him clearly, instead, built a birchbark canoe and a couple of birdhouses with the leftover materials." (He sold them on eBay and they all lived happily ever after.) edit: I hope I didn't sound too outraged.

  13. So, as it's been pointed out before, your argument is that God needs us to have spirit so he can talk to our spirit, then somehow our spirit talks to our natural mind. So our spririt, as it can talk to natural things, must be greater than God, right?

  14. So-and-so is at it again Saying his typical outlandish nonsense…trying to be provocative…trying to elicit a response…he did this most notably and ignobly on certain threads: The Absent Christ, The New Testament canon, Determinism and the Illusion of Free Will. ~ ~ ~ ~ ...a troll is a person who posts or makes inflammatory, insincere, digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages online (such as in social media, a newsgroup, a forum, a chat room, a online video game), or in real life, with the intent of provoking others into displaying emotional responses or manipulating others' perception. The behavior is typically for the troll's amusement, or to achieve a specific result such as disrupting a rival's online activities or purposefully causing confusion or harm to other users online. In this context, both the noun and the verb forms of "troll" are frequently associated with Internet discourse. Media attention in recent years has equated trolling with online harassment…The advice to ignore rather than engage with a troll is sometimes phrased as "Please don't feed the trolls." The most common advice to deal with someone who gets enjoyment out of provoking others is to ignore them and deprive them of the pleasure of watching people react. This is typically phrased as "don't feed the trolls", however, some believe this to be bad or incomplete advice for effectively dealing with trolls. Troll (slang) - Wikipedia

  16. Reading your last paragraph brought tears to my eyes and warmth to my heart. It so fits in with how God and Jesus Christ work in us. Thank you (I don't drink but I love chocolate so here's to you and I having a chocolate shake together.

  17. You might enjoy thinking and looking outside of Scripture – you’re free to develop your own curriculum. The last few years I’ve pursued the philosophy of religion rather than just theology... I’m speaking as a layman – so this is just my 2 cents - theologians are usually bound by the tenets of their particular faith, and that puts limits on what they can argue, what they look into and what conclusions they can reach. They will accept certain concepts and principles on the basis of faith alone – but me, I guess being part technician and part renegade - I like to think outside the theological box and explore the heck out of something as much as I can with what little I know of theology and standard philosophical/analytic methods. Something related to this topic that I got into thinking about a while back was 3 concepts: inspiration, illumination, and revelation. I pursued it from a few different angles – look for a biblical definition, look for a scholarly definition, look for a common person’s understanding. Find illustrations of each in the Bible and/or in your own life. This is just an example of making up one’s own study program. ~ ~ ~ ~ If I were you, I’d call your old friend – especially if it ended unpleasantly… I was the one who soured true friendships when I got in TWI – because of where I drew the line - if they weren’t interested in “The Word”, then I was no longer interested in them. Maybe due to a lot of pride, shame or what - I don’t know – I never made an effort to make amends for being an aloof Bible fanatic. then a couple of years ago one of my old friends contacted me! We reminisced a bunch. He still keeps in touch with most of our old circle of friends. He got me caught up on himself and others. I decided to do the same – starting off with apologizing for being snobbish after joining TWI – moved around for them, got tired of being exploited and left – played catch up career-wise, yada yada, yada I’ve got a wife, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, own our home. When we wrapped up our conversation, I told him to say hello to the old gang and that I’m done with my religious cult phase - sorry I was such an a$$-hole and I still think about everyone once in a while. I'm not assuming your falling out is similar...but just going on the fact that you've thought about contacting them - seems like a good idea - whether it's from God or your own heart - it doesn't matter. The only thing I assume is that you have good intentions - unless you're planning to get one last insult in

  19. I really am not interested in making up an alternate plausible explanation for everything erroneous about the Way. I think God designed Christianity as easy enough for the average man to grasp and live. Pray, read scripture, fellowship, interact in your circles and communities. Be inclusive not exclusive. The more I get cornered in thinking into needing to explain away and replace each detail of PFAL logic the more self enveloping it is, pulling me back in to the obsessive and destructive mindset of my past. And the more idiots will dissect whatever I say in closed rooms to justify themselves. Not you Charity we are having a cool talk. I mean the others who watch in silence with evil in their hearts towards those of us on this site.
