    Blending in

Blending is not on the menu... Radiating is!!!
  3. Hap, I was in Hawaii went the quake hit. We had to go up to the top floor in the hotel because the waves were so high just to be on the safe side. I was in the second grade and my father had been on Johnson Island working on a project for several months. He was gone for a year and during that time he came home for a week or two and then we went to visit him in Hawaii. My Mom had to listen to, "Are we there yet?" for three hours! What I remember most about Hawaii was how green it was! We lived in a new development in Las Vegas and there wasn't the lush greenery that comes with time and humidity.
  4. I firmly believe in the yellow pages. I have a website and it has helped. Do you do construction and remodeling? It would help to know what you are trying to sell. Also, do you have pictures of the work you have done? What is your budget for advertising?
  5. A heat wave for us right now is when the wind isn't blowing and it's above 0 degrees. I love those days! Stay warm Dave!!! I wear gloves and a fleece pullover jacket under my coat. Then I wear something over my ears and a stocking cap. Then I wear something over my neck that I can pull up over my mouth and nose. I work out of a place that is so COLD I have to wear a few layers to survive. Take care and I always look forward to WARM..not hot...WARM!!!
  6. This movie came and went really fast here in Lincoln. I will want to see it on DVD if we don't catch it at the $2 movie theatre if it runs there.
  7. This was a very enjoyable movie. Will Smith did a super job. In the credits it said something like "suggested by Issac Asmiov". The computer graphics were outstanding and the plot was intriguing. :)-->
  8. I loved the fact that Julia Roberts pretended to impersonate herself in this movie!!! I also loved what a smuck the "Night Fox" was. This cast can pull of being very silly and very cool .
  9. I think his "Cowboy" song is awesome! I have an entire dance routine that goes with it.
  10. Congratulations, Linda Z on your new vehicle!
  11. Grrrrr! JOhnIam, women and men are not suppose to beat up on each other emotionally or physically! The violence has to stop somewhere.
  12. The subject matter didn't appeal to me. I'll be giving this one a miss.
  13. So the ladies were suppose to keep the policy going...Hmmmm!!! Bob has to be willing to stop the manipulation. Maybe you need to recognize your own beauty and talents. You could tell him your not willing to fork out the dough anymore and you feel that it's time to turn finances inward toward your marriage and children. Hmmm... I just don't believe in messing with free will. Talking to Bob's guardian angels might help... Ask them to help Bob with this situation... Ask your own Angels to help you! Be specific! They listen and they work wonders!!!
  14. What I know about situations that I feel I can't do anything about where people are less than wonderful is that the more I dwell on it, the more I am not a peace and derail doing what is in front of me to do and that causes issues. It's like I get hurt twice when I let things get to me. I stop paying attention to what I need to do for the house, errands, etc. and it is unproductive. If I stop, drop it(let go of what is bugging me that I can't do anything about it), and take action on what I can do something about life has more serenity. You can't change the step-daughters and you can't change Bob. You can work something out where the daughter doesn't come to you with her hand out for the insurance policy. Couldn't you have it taken out of your checking account and paid directly to the policy since Bob is insisting that this be given to them? It's an irksome situation and it's understandable that it is getting to you. One thing that might help is if you think of the step-daughters taking up rent free space in their head and if you want to GIVE that to them. Take your back your power by saying "I lovingly take back my power." These are just some things that I have learned and when I fail to practice them...I suffer...and I thank-you for the reminder of what control I do have over situations...Much more than I could imagine... There are 3 phrases that I use that are AWESOME...Atleast they have worked for me and others...Peace BE Still!!!! Love this... Used it a lot when Sami was little... She screamed and carried on when I would bring her home from day care until dinner was on the table...Peace be still...is sounds so soothing... Something Good is going to come out of this!!! That affirmation is sending a message out that you are willing to accept something good from a situation...Your inviting good into your life with that one! When something is really bugging me...I say "Thank-you God/Goddess for this situation" and I usually feel a big sense of relief and know I will get a treasure trove of learning from it and it's like a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders... The last one is Namaste "The Divine in me sees the divine in you" and You can subsitute God for the divine!!! This one is great when you are around people that you don't like or sense they don't like you... There was a gal that was a friend of a friend of mine and when we were all together she would almost look right through me and act very rude. I started using this phrase around her and she was more pleasant and so was I! Please take these ideas as a menu that you can order off of or leave behind...I apreciate the opportunity to share them...I wish you all the best in your situation with your step-daughters.
  15. Shell, thanks for the link. I am not surprised that women globablly don't get the death penalty as often as men. I am not saying that is the way it should be, I'm just not surprised.
  16. I have heard that when women commit murder or manslaughter they do more time for it than when men do. I watched a documentary on this about 8 years ago. Having been in a domestic abuse shelter myself and listening to what the other wives and girlfriends went thorough was very enlightening. One woman had a bus ticket to get out of town and she didn't go. She died mysteriously in a fire in her apartment about 8 months later. I still remember talking to her on the back porch of the shelter. The biggest defense for both men and women against abuse is self-esteem. When you like yourself and are confident you don't have to spend tearing someone else down to make yourself feel good. I was married to someone who didn't like me discussing world events with his family or spending time putting on make-up. It didn't last long. To this day when he talks to me about something I go over it after he isn't around to make sure it is the truth. I have never met anyone else that can not tell the truth so convincingly. Equality between the sexes is going to take a very long time. In general, I think that respect among people has been declining terribly and that just leads to more challenges within a person's personality and mental health as well as disrespect for people's safety, well-being, and property. My teacher in marketing said that it was important to speak your mind, however, it is very important to be mindful of the words you use and to think about if the words would be hurtful to the person listening. I agree.
  17. That is a great song and it is nice to have dmiller arouond to write it!
  18. I do remember the flash floods when I was a kid. The water would go up to the sidewalk and the cars would float out of the hotel's parking lot. That is ashame that the new controls have not held. We had a heatwave today. It was 28 degrees and I could forgo gloves in the parking lot.
  19. :)-->May your love, joy, and beauty continue to bloom in the days, weeks, and years ahead!
  20. Chuck, I wish you well with your food plan and healthy living. It isn't easy. 3 out of 5 people in NE are overweight.
  21. As a child, snow in Las Vegas was a living weather miracle! You should see the piles of it that is meling here in Lincoln. I am filled with glee as it melts off the streets and makes driving easier by being gone. My new Saturn is even more awesome in the snow than the last one. More horsepower to get up slick hills! Cindy and Steve I hope you two have an awesome holiday on your trip to Vegas.
  22. Grandpa and Grandma...A step Grand-pa wanted to be called G-Dad and that was cool. I am named after my Dad's Mom and so there was also "Little Susie" and "Big Susie." However, Before she passed away I was gaining very steadily on her height. It's nice to remember my Grandma Susie... I always felt so loved and appreciated around her. She had an amazing back yard full of fruit trees, grapes, flowers, etc. and it was Las Vegas she was growing plants in. My Dad used to say that He had her put her thumb in the yard at every house we lived out to help things grow.
