If you are getting this kind of advice from somebody that is supposed to be some kind of professional "trained" counselor, something has gone wrong, very wrong.. I'd say the training failed.

And how much of this CRAP was instigated and taught by people that otherwise did not have a CLUE in life? A lot of those "people" didn't even HAVE kids- many of the ones I was aware of, anyway.. Kids were just another distraction in their otherwise perfect world.. just mucked up by us "breeders".. Just another inconvenience- the answer? Beat the h*ll out of them. That'll keep em quiet.. really. Smack them until they are quiet, humble and obedient.. I have seen it practiced, on well more than one occasion. God forbid that a kid would need to get up in the middle of a three hour meeting.. My opinion- if you have not had kids, you do not have the right to talk. I know parents that were instructed to "beat the h*ll out of" the kids. By CLERGY. One I know of was told, literally, to take the kid out in the wilderness where nobody could hear him scream, and beat the living .... out of him.

which in my opinion disqualifies his works for anything. Cripe, for me, it would be easier to toss out the whole mess and start over again.. rather than try to sort through the ravings of a half-baked lunatic.. I must have been nuts. Even I thought he was "Napoleon" at one time..

All offenses committed under the "all seeing eye" of TWI.. ptooie. Now I understand from another post, that TWI committed themselves to pay his bills while he was in the joint.. ptooie. Its just getting worse and worse.

I dunno.. sounds pretty good to me. But maybe spoken in the "positive" makes more sense: "the scriptural truths they taught us are to be RE-EXAMINED". Personally, I'm tired of acting positive all the time.. I think the whole point though, he who uttered these "mighty" doctrines was:

Just a little thought.. Why make YOURSELF the target, unless it is warranted, for one reason or another? "These folks" are passionate enough about REALITY to bury that dumb foot cult.. personally, I'd stay out of the way..

The TWI I left in 1996 was VASTLY different than the one I "joined" in 1974. Of course it was VASTLY different in 1975 also. The "honeymoon" may last about a year for most people.. some it lasted a LOT longer. God only knows why..

Yep. And even as a doctrine it did gradually change- the "beloved" once were "beloved". Slowly, this was mutated into "those who endear (work their rear ends off down to the bone) themselves to the Father.

Yep Rascal.. Everybody has an agenda. Not that there's anything wrong in that.. But why is it: anybody who was "somebody" in the tree, would rather that we just "got over it". Like J*hn L*nn. How sure can you be of this? Just wondering. Quite a few of the bastards were MASTERS of manipulation.. and meddling. Maybe I'm not as intelligent as you. I am just coming to grips with some of the crap they pulled off..and its been over six years since I've left in the joint. How they worked over me and (now ex) wife, in particular. They did stuff to make her look like she was nuts.. And did things to make me think they were the greatest thing since pizza hit the scene. I'm STILL figuring out what happened. Only thing I can say: if indeed you and your family got the good, and avoided the evil, hurray. Go your merry way, enjoy life.. ignore the stinking dead horse.. maybe to you, it is dead.

I dunno.. kind of like asking which came first, the chicken or the egg.. :)--> Actually, I think TWI brought the WORST out of me at times. Apparently did the same for others also. I think the prospect of having power over others was a strong attraction for those with less than pure motives.
