  1. Oh ((((((((((((likeaneagle)))))))))))))) how very sad that all is. I'm so sorry you had to go through such a heartbreaking thing like that. How trying to have to choose loyalties like that and find yourself in such a no win situation. I hope your heart will heal with enough time, but these people are lunatics! I'm glad you have control over your life again. And we all are here so that people like your ex-fiance will get out in due time and heal. J.
  2. Linda, that's cuz of all the NY Times crossword puzzles the boy does so he can use words like "nomothetic" in a sentence (big showoff! - - ;)). J.
  3. Happy, happy birthday, dear friend. All the best for continued success and happiness. xoxoxo J.
  4. Welcome to your FABULOUS FIFTIES!!!!! Just remember, when you turn 50 you get to say anything you want (oh yeah, you already DO that!) ;) Hope it's as wonderful as you are! Hugs, J. I'm still hot.... It just comes in flashes now!
  5. Hey M! Good to see you around here again! Nice post. Glad you are forging forward. The not judging people is very freeing. It's a hard thing to learn to be a little vulnerable, to learn humilty, to let adult people choose to live their own lives the way they see fit. It's very freeing though. Love to you and your family! J.
  6. Wow, L. What a story. I'm so glad you called. I bet it was a tough call to dial, but what a gift that Gary was willing to discuss it with you (gift in the sense of offering some closure for you). Where did you and your brother end up living after the house sold? I remembered you had lost both your parents but hadn't realized you two were so young until you mentioned it on the mother's day thread. Tough events that shape us, eh? ((((((((((L))))))))))))) Love you, dear! J.
  7. O.K. you guys all have me hooked now. Thanks for the suggestions. I did go ahead and pay for one month of ancestor.com. My paternal line is a bit tricky because my grandparents were from Mexico but never became citizens, so I've been unable to find their names in census docs. My parents both died when I was young, so I don't have much oral history to go on, but last night I remembered while searching my grandmother was a twin and somehow remembered her twin's married name and that she had lived near us, so was able to find her death info which provided her maiden name and her father's surname!!!!! That was so exciting. Also, just in a random search of the 1930 census, I found my mother's family listed in some po-dunk town in New Mexico, so that was cool. My mom's cousin has documented all of her side of the family which came over from Barcelona in the late 1700s on a land grant from Spain to settle New Mexico. They came thru New Orleans and my cousin found the ship document with their family names listed. She's going to get us copies of what she's found so far which I'm so anxious to read. But the breakthrough on my dad's side was exciting. My paternal grandfather is Aurelio Jimenez which in San Antonio, TX where he settled is like having the name Joe Smith. So I may have a little more trouble finding his info and I don't know the extended family there in TX. Thanks for sharing what you've learned. It helped me get "un-stumped". J.

    The Countdown

¡Este presidente tiene cajones! ¡Bravo, Raf! I love your commitment to research and desire to mentor. I have succeeded in business because of mentors I've had along the way. My success has allowed me to sometimes choose to promote people of color who were the most qualified in some instances, but largely overlooked in large organizations. It's a great feeling to mentor people who are hungry to succeed and who desire to make a difference in their communities and in society at large. It will be a most fortunate student who has you as a mentor. Go get 'em, Raf. There's no doubt you will be a tough act to follow. Congratulations, once again. J.
  9. Well, I wasn't there in 86-87 - - but could it be you are thinking of Jim and M*rjorie Plunk*tt??? J.
  10. Welcome Frickafrack ~ A few of us here on this board were living at RC from 84-86 and they were not on staff then. After POP, I would doubt they even would have been welcome, so my guess it had to be pre-84 (if at all), as VP was spending more and more time at RC after being a persona non grata at HQ after lcm took over the reigns. Hope someone else knows. J.

    Doojable

All the best to you in the years ahead, Dooj. Happy Birthday. J.
  12. Great story, David. Sounds like a lot of fun. Indy now has it's share of mini marathons and the locals make it into a great time of merriment which I'm sure will be the case at Grandma's. J.

  15. How did I miss this one????? Happy belated, dear man. You are a wonderful soul and your wit in chat never ceases to cheer me up when I've had a long day. ...and you look mah-vel-ous in RED, dahling!!!! Wishing you many, many more! Love, J.
  16. This is only a part of his letter to the NCAA, but this President of UND stands up for the 80 year tradition in name, logo, relationship with the Sioux tribes: Give 'em hell, Chuck! Read the entire article here: WHY THE “SIOUX” MAY HAVE TO SUE J.
  17. Actually, George - - ol' VP taught that some prophecy WAS revelation. If it was "foretelling" of something in the future that was going to happen, then it had to be by revelation. If it was "forthtelling" it was just speaking it forth, a la the manifestation of prophecy. He taught that 7 of the manifestations were evident in the OT with the exception of SIT and interpretation of tongues. Those were only evidenced after Pentecost (yeah, THAT Pentecost). Simplied version, but you get the idea. J.
  18. ***wow, that was weird; I was just hitting reply when this was booted to the dungeon*** So, Mark - - what caused the change of opinion in the '30s???? J.
  19. Hi Seth ~ I have a niece who is bipolar, so though I don't live with it everyday, I "understand" to some degree that there are no easy, black and white answers to daily life. Just wanted to send some love your way. Nice to see you here again. J.
  20. Happy Birthday, Bow! Hope it's as fun and wonderful as you are! J.
  21. Simon Z ~ Wast thou carried away with the devilish dust in Phoenix on 06-06-06???? J.
