What is your non-spiritual, non-relgious stress reliever?
Sushi replied to Tony Soprano's topic in Open
I wasn't aware shoes had souls. I hope this isn't going to turn into an abortion debate, i.e., whether shoes are alive before/after they're manufactured. -
No, but I'd like to meet Dr. Demento.

I don't have an answer for the sponge question. But, for you coffee drinkers, I have something. This only applies to those who use paper filters. I've found, it is somewhat easier to pull a single filter from the BOTTOM of the stack, than trying to get one from the top. Of course, there will be times when you get a 'twofer', but less than if you try to get it from the top.

Yes, they tend to be much smaller than their wav counterparts. One thing which hasn't been mentioned yet is, how much music does the player have to hold? It seems as if mp3 players use 1 meg per minute of music. This means a 512mb player will hold somewhere in the vicinity of 150-200 songs. Once you determine that, I think the choice will be much simpler.

Well, let's see if we can get this back on track. I think the reason we keep coming back is, our experience with the evil empire (TWI) was a rather intense one. You will also see this type of behaviour in war veterans (this is NOT to be construed as me saying we were like veterans of war). They will get together, reminisce, talk about their fallen comrades with a nostalgia not to be seen anywhere else. The only people who can really understand are those who either served side by side with them, or at the least were in the service. Take this for what it's worth, which may be nothing, since that is what you're paying for my opinion.

You'll find my confession on page 2 of this thread. Being the product of a wannabe grammarian and the Catholic school system (insert scary music here), I have a great and abiding fear of being 'wrong'. It has also translated into if someone uses the language poorly, they must not have the capacity for intelligent thought. Therefore, they can be dismissed much more easily. I'm not proud of this, but that is the way it is for me.

***Oops - posted by Abigail***** Easier and it holds much much more songs. In order to use the iPod, you have to install iTunes on your computer. The upside is the iTunes program is FREE. The bad news is the songs are not. lol Once you have iTunes on your computer, though, you can upload all of your music cd's onto your computer and iTunes will very easily and quickly convert them to the format needed for the iPod. Also, you can purchase and download individual songs of your choice off of iTunes, usually for 99 cents per song. OR, you can download entire cd's from $6 and up. The average seems to be right around $10 per album, which is still significantly cheaper than what you would pay at the store. Finally, in addition to putting all of these songs on your iPod, you can burn them to cd's in any order you want - no more having to listen to songs on a cd you don't like, while waiting for the ones you do. I have one, Shellon and I love it. If you have trouble figuring out how to make it work, give me a hollar and I can talk you through it. You will need an available USB port on your computer, though.

I am also a recovering spelling nazi. For years, I would take off on something someone said for comedic effect (also, to humorously point out the error in hopes of correcting their misstep without embarrassing). Over the years, however, it seems to me no one cares as much as I do about how the language is used. Therefore, I don't correct anyone's use of the language unless asked. I have 'corrected' in chat, but don't anymore. This is because I came to the realization, the rules are different for chat than in a post. In chat, you are trying to get your thoughts out as quickly as possible (those who type, or 'keyboard' well, have a serious advantage here). However, in a post, you have the time to reread what you've written before you hit the reply button. There are some posters here who I will not read because of this. I believe it is the responsibility of the person 'speaking' or writing to communicate well. I would also say, most of us don't have the time (or the inclination) to wade through what some here write. Of course, I could be wrong. It's been a while, but it HAS happened. For those who do, you are more than welcome to do so. I don't come here to work at understanding someone, I come here to enjoy myself. (not really edited, was just checking for the spell check button) Lastly, I know I don't know ALL the rules, but am fairly familiar with most of them. So there. :P

From Soupy Sales: Someone says, "I 'feel' like an old man (woman)" You say, "I bet you could get one"

************ABIGAIL HERE - too tired to log out and log back in under my own name ************ T, what you said here: "It's odd isn't it – how sometimes we can be so stubborn to stick to the letter of the law on something and forget about the intent of the law. Where our theology becomes set in stone and humanity and life is obscured." I think, though I could be mistaken, that this is more or less what Wearword has been trying to say - he just uses different words, words that often have a tainted meaning to many of us, because of our experiences with twi. I have never seen either of the two books you referenced, though I think I will look for them. Well correction, the Complete Jewish Bible is included in one of the links Cman posted, so I have seen it online and so far I like it. :)

My snooty pan recommendations would be either Calphalon (I've never cooked with it, but would really like to try ), or All Clad. Personally, I would go with non stick, but sometimes they don't give you the 'crusties' you want for a gravy. On the subject of stoves, the electric sort bite the big one. Gas is the way to go for me (better heat control and all).

"If you think it's butter, but it's........."

Well, Cowgirl, you COULD call the business, "Mike Hunt's Treasures".

Am I the only one not surprised this 'museum' is located in KY country?

Well, Abi and I don't want any more kids, sooooo. (she put it between her KNEES. Get your mind out of the gutter! )

Over last weekend, I received for my birthday, what I would call, a crappy frying pan. It would seem it was a gag gift. Of course, I thanked the person with genuine gratitude (Shellon) (this is what I get for trying to be NICE) then promptly threw it out the window of the van on the ride home. I have found, the better the cookware, knives, etc., the easier my job in the kitchen is. However, there are SOME here who think I'm 'snooty' about my kitchen stuff (SHELL, ABI). This is directed at the rank amateur cooks, but the pros are also welcome to chime in.

You give up slave labor for Lent, by cleaning YOUR house, painting it, whatever, on a Saturday, instead of doing these things at the branch leader's house (or limb coordinator's, for that matter). Or worrying about the condition of the top of your refrigerator.

Oh, and by the by, LAE, you're just a big, POOPY head. (edited for punctuation)

"just out to stir up things alittle.." Dang, I don't know about anyone else, but I was out to stir things up a LOT. "I think these guys are high school run aways" How amazingly perceptive, LAE. You must really be tight with God. Truth be known, LAE, I did drop out of high school to help support my family. My apologies for not having the Norman Rockwell life you must have had. Could that be why you were involved in a cult? "and have no place to call home" Well, it's been a while since I've been homeless, but that was over twenty years ago (while I was living the "more abundant life" courtesy of the evil empire (TWI). Well, sort of. My test for insanity involves a highly refined test. It involves watching a video of an hysterical (I think) comedian. If the person taking the test laughs, they are not insane. However......

Would mine be one of the ones that has shame on it?

This one's for Garth, Sudo, and George (my fellow heretics ) (As always, Mr. Black uses what some would deem 'bad' language, so be ye forewarned) HERE! Btw, if anyone would be willing to teach me how to embed, I would greatly appreciate it)

The one we had before, nailed me as to where I'm from. However, it would seem I've move to the Northern part of the country.

Thank you, Babe. Yes, it was two score and eight years ago, a bouncing baby boy was born to Robert and Catherine. And the rest, as they say, is history.
