Emotions are a vital part of our make-up. Fear, for example, warns us to avoid impending danger. Likewise, our emotions can alert us to situations that "just aren't quite right". It's that aspect of our emotions that Way-based-theology required us to ignore. If we had allowed those emotions to do their job, we would have been able to look at our situation logically, with critical thinking skills. Failure to do that locks you into a pattern of self delusion/denial. It doesn't only happen in The Way. It's not exclusive to cults or religion based organizations. It happens in marriages, jobs, business relationships, family dynamics, etc. Our emotions and intuitions are often intertwined. Sometimes that's bad, but, more often that's good. (IMO) I think a lot of what Way LEADERS passed off as revelation was really just intuition. (In VPW's case, sometimes what he passed of as revelation was simply deliberate fabrication, such as the "revelation" he actually gleaned from white supremacy propaganda.) And, it's not always reliable. That's why I say that sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not. On the other hand, valid intuition that Way FOLLOWERS had was often dismissed as being unreliable emotion (5 senses). Life is a balance between being able to trust our emotions/intuitions and cultivating an ability to think critically and logically. Way theology thwarts the individual's ability to develop that skill of balancing the two. It's not a mentally healthful way to approach life. And, yet, The Way actually encouraged us to take that approach.

Hey, Socks Did you ever jam with cats? "I sure am glad I got a chance to say a word about the music and the mothers from Nash---ville."

And, you know, that's a very important aspect of this whole subject. Sure, he can no longer personally hurt you but, the system he set in place is very much alive and active. In fact, there seems to be a revival of sorts in all things Way related. Now we have facebook "fellowships", word studies and teachings and even on-line excellor sessions. All of a sudden, I've seen people who've been gone from The Way for decades spewing Way cliches and pushing for a resurgence of interest and activity. They can hardly communicate without bringing the subject back to some teaching they heard long ago. Kind of like the Herpes virus. You get Chickenpox from it when you're a kid and then you forget about it until, as an adult, it rears its ugly head and resurfaces as Shingles and wreaks more havoc then it did its first time around. So, yeah, the Chickenpox (VPW) is gone but, the virus he left behind is still causing damage.

Is off topic? I don't know. You tell me.Yeah...a major situation, givin' me the minor blues. Don't talk about it or try to fix it, though. That might bum you out..couldn't have that, now, could we?

I think Tic's dog license was legitimate but, I can't really say with 100% certainty.

Someplace on GSC, there is a thread that reveals the true source of JCOPS. I have no idea how to find it, though. (The search feature never seems to work for me.)

What's the difference between a Major key and a Minor key? Simple, the note they begin on. As an example, C Major and A Minor share the same scale, they just start on different notes. That's why they are described as being "relative" to one another. ? and are both in minor keys. Are they "off the word"?

I always thought there was a degree of deception having us function as shills and felt a sense of reluctance. Having been involved in theatrical productions in my pre-TWI days, though, I allowed myself to rationalize it. Funny how the mind can betray your true nature.

I wonder if they sing Roll Away.
-
Maybe they just OD'd on .

I dunno. FellowLaborers was pretty small. There were only 50 of us at any given time. So, you couldn't really opt out of participation in ANYTHING, especially group singing. If you did, you'd be mighty conspicuous. Not good in a group that's driven by peer pressure. And, you always had to act like you were excited about it. "If I act excited, I'll be excited." Remember that stuff? We sang Roll Away after EVERY group meal, complete with hand motions and feigned enthusiasm. It's a 2 year program. Put a fresh battery in your calculator and do the math. :o

Martindale's just a handy fall guy. The Way's problems started before he was even born.

I think this happens in all walks of life. People say they want your honest opinion. When you give it to them and it doesn't agree with their own, their "interest" quickly fades. I suppose, in some way, they ask you because they are seeking to have their own opinion validated.

PFAL pg. 17,18 "....that morning I dropped next to my chair and I asked God to forgive me. I promised the Father that if He would forgive me,as long as I lived I would never preach a negative sermon, I would never condemn anybody." .................................................................. He wasn't very good at keeping promises, was he?

"waiting endlessly and in vain" Yes, that sounds about right.

Didn't Wierdwilly say, in the Piffle class, that you could use his special "keys" to solve apparent contradictions? So, which keys can you use to solve this one?....used before, scripture build-up, to whom addressed, correct administration?

I never understood the concept of spirits "attaching" themselves to an object. If they're spirits, they should be able to move about, unencumbered, no? Same thing with these T.V. shows where somebody tears down a brick wall and releases a tormented spirit that's been trapped there for centuries. Even Casper could fly right through brick walls.... and he was just a cartoon.
-
Please tell me I'm not the only one who's ever wondered about the obvious scriptural contradiction this subject presents. According to scripture, you're not supposed to be able to see spirits because they have no physical attributes. Angels are spirits, right? Well, another place in the scriptures says you could meet an angel and not be aware they are not human. How does one reconcile the incongruity?

Nothing personal but, I think I've heard enough conspiracy theories to last a lifetime.

Poly-rhythmic music defies the idea of mathematical exactness.....but it works.

Ahhhhh! But there's a caveat. The Way Tree ©1974 Each twig is to be self supporting, self propagating and self governing in cooperation with its respective Branch as each Branch is to its respective Limb, as each Limb is to its respective Trunk, as each Trunk is to the Root of The Way. (Bold font and resizing added) ............................ So, you see, it actually says the opposite of what we thought it said. The Twig is ultimately controlled by The Root. It was never intended to be "self" supporting, propagating or governing at all.
