Well, he did teach us about how there were 4 crucified with Jesus, not 2. Oops, sorry, that particular research has been debunked. Ok, then there is the matter of lambano and dechomai. Nah, that one crashed and burned, too. How about the law of believing? Shoot, that dog don't hunt neither. Well, crap, what exactly DID we learn, anyhow?

I think I see your point, what with God being spirit and all that. Then again, I guess one has to be a bit more specific in who owns the title of "God".
-
And he violated The Mann Act in order to facilitate his polygamous lifestyle. So, even though there are no federal laws against polygamy, there ARE laws against the sort of trafficking he used to facilitate it. (See thread on Polygamy)
-
Well, there are some amongst us who roll our eyes and say, with disgust, "God Almighty!" That's probably not what you had in mind, though.
-
By virtue of his own definitions, as set forth in the CF&S class, VPW was a polygamist. CF&S (somewhat paraphrased) 1."Intercourse is always a spiritual event." 2."Consummation, because it is spiritual in nature, is the defining criteria for marriage in God's eyes, not the laws of man." Where he got these ideas, I don't know. He said he didn't have scriptures to back much of what he was saying and told us we would "just have to trust me"(him).

VPW willfully violated The Mann Act of 1910. HERE Had he been caught and prosecuted, he would have been, not only a "bad man", he would have been a felon, hardly worthy of the exaltation and laurels that have been misguidedly heaped upon him.
-
And therein lies the point of NOT letting this slip into the shadows of history. VPW's legacy lives on in these clowns who still promote this sort of thinking. Ergo, it's not really "past history" at all. It's alive and well wherever the praises of "our Father, who art in New Knoxville' are being sung.

Relevant points that come to mind: 1. He was in a position of authority and influence. 2. Date rape drugs were sometimes used. 3. He violated the Mann Act when he transported victims across state lines.
-
Yes, I did wonder about that at times.
-
Let's just hope he was "shootin' blanks".

....and a limp one at that.

I agree with you on this Mr. Squirrel. Simply knowing that he stood before groups of people and made such claims regarding his own daughter, whether true or not, is more than enough to disqualify him as a "good man" in my book.
-
"She lives in MI. Why don't you call her and ask her about it rather than blindly believe what someone posted here. There's a website called zabasearch.com that will give phone numbers and addresses for free. Go ahead, call her. And while you're at it, why don't you ask her how she feels about the things said here about her dad?" Perhaps you weren't paying attention, John. People have come forward and given first hand testimony that Wierwille made these claims when addressing small, intimate groups. This is not hearsay. Wierwille stated, that when his daughter was approaching or had reached puberty, he fondled her nipples in order to sexually arouse her so she would know what to expect as she grew into womanhood. He claimed that this is something that is customary in aboriginal tribes in remote parts of the World. These incidents really happened. There is a bit more information that I know about this that I am just not going to post. You don't like that? Tough! Now, the question here is if he really did the things he claimed. Maybe he did. Maybe he didn't. I, for one, believe he did. But, we can't know for sure unless that person actually comes forward. However, we can be 100% sure that he did, at least, confess to committing such acts. What sort of "good person" would made such claims about interactions with his own daughter? "Go ahead, call her. And while you're at it, why don't you ask her how she feels about the things said here about her dad?" Maybe YOU should call HER and ask her how she feels about her father having made these claims. Personally, I doubt you have what it would take to make such a call.

You are probably right, WW. I guess I feel compelled, sometimes, to try to make sense of things that defy logic.

I just glanced over at my bookshelf. As my eyes fixated on receiving the holy spirit today, I flashed back on Wierwille's voice saying, "I didn't write the book!!" That's all I've got. It seemed good for a chuckle at the moment.

Another take on the homosexual aspect HERE There are elements of bisexuality in every individual. In the course of a normal development, the homosexual instincts are weakened and the heterosexual come to the fore, paralleling the development of the anatomical signs of bisexuality. The nipples of the male, for example, remain in an “embryonic” state. If the homosexual instinct does not disappear, however, but continues its development, the result will be either open homosexuality, if the individual is conscious of his tendency, or latent homosexuality, if he is unaware of it and it is hidden in the unconscious by the authority of the moral censor. However, the thinking, the aspirations and the actions of such a person will reflect his internal conflict. In some cases, the homosexual elements are not manifested till advanced age, appearing like a mysterious flame glowing through the ash. It seems to us that no other perversion (or to use a better term, paraphilia), in its latent occult state, makes such liberal use of various masks and distortions as the homosexual inclination. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Don Juan, this picture of a man in the eternal quest of women, is likewise a masked form of homosexuality. He cannot find the object of his quest and is untiring in his efforts. Nothing can satisfy him since he seeks satisfaction where he cannot find it. He cannot abandon the search because an incessant voice from the unconscious drives him on, and he does not know whence will come the call and where it will lead him. This unceasing flight from one woman to another is sadistic, and an even stronger sadism must develop when a latent homosexual is bound by marriage to one woman. Unconscious but aggressive homosexual tendencies and sadism are inseparable phenomena. When one of the partners to a marriage is a homosexual, the marriage becomes a form of torture, especially when the homosexuality assumes an aggressive shape.

Good post, Calavicci. It's amazing, in retrospect, to realize how one sided it all was.

Hardly. You can't bash higher education on one hand and then turn around and use it as evidence of credibility. Wierwille did the same thing. He bashed the fields of science, philosophy, psychology and higher education in general. Then, he turned around and tried to lend credibility to his so-called ministry by name-dropping associations that he'd had with people of higher learning. Hell, he even represented himself as having received a doctorate when, in reality, his "degree" had been granted by what we now refer to as degree mills. You do realize he wasn't really a "Dr.", don't you? ------------------------------------------------------- "he screwed EVERYBODY.. homosexual tendancies.. led to intellectual conquests.. yeah. The Victoid was as queer as a "three dollar bill.." Ham You may have stumbled onto something here. Perhaps he was so hell bent on conquering women because he was trying to prove to himself that his homosexual tendencies weren't real. It's not so far fetched. I've personally known people who have married and had children in an effort to prove to themselves that their tendencies weren't real. I could be wrong. It's certainly something that merits some consideration, though, in my opinion
