We sang this hymn frequently: How Great Thou Art –---Carl Gustaf Boberg as translated by Stuart H. Hine (a paraphrasing of Psalm 8) O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art! When through the woods, and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees. When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art! And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art! When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart. Then I shall bow, in humble adoration, And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!" Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, How great Thou art! How many times did we ever stop to think about how shallow and confining this makes "The Great Principle" seem to be? Here we see a man who can "hear" from God by merely observing His handiwork. No pyramids of manifestations to build, no mandatory, daily rituals to be observed. Like a child who opens his eyes wide to the world about him and takes it all in without a thought of putting it into words.

Here is something from the PFAL book. Pgs.229 & 230 "Before we move into the depth of the new birth, we must realize some fundamental terms. When I speak of the "natural man", I speak of the man of body and soul, the man who is not born again of God's Spirit. This is the accurate Biblical usage of natural man. The five senses are the only avenues of learning that the natural man has to gain knowledge. Everything that ever comes to a natural man's mind must come by one or a combination of these five senses: seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching." (bold font added by poster)

It's in all three classes, in one form or another, but, it's given special attention in the Advanced Class. In fact, on page 10, which is titled Keys To Walking In The Spirit, key #3 is "Speaking in tongues daily is prerequisite to revelation." Why? Because it attempts to give credence to page #15 of the Interpretation of Tongues and Prophesy Class, which depicts a pyramid structure of the 9 "manifestations" with "Kinds of Tongues" being depicted as the foundation upon which the rest of it is built. In other words, no SIT = no WOK, WOW or DOS. And, from page 252 of Receiving The Holy Spirit Today. Question #6 Is it possible for one to receive the gift from the Holy Spirit into manifestation without speaking in a tongue? Answer No, it is not. Now, remember, the revelation "manifestations" would be considered to be an example of "receiving the gift from the Holy Spirit into manifestation". Do the math. BTW----This whole Question and Answer section was plagiarized, by Wierwille, from another source. Yes, this is provable and has been documented on GSC. This might explain why he refers to "speaking in tongues" as "speaking in a tongue" Even though the question was supposedly posed by another person, it could easily have been rephrased to give it a sense of congruence with the author's literary voice.... but it wasn't.

Wierwille made his position on this subject very clear, beginning with his lesson on the three-fold man (body/soul/spirit) in PFAL. According to Wierwille, the only avenues of direct communication with God, today, are a.) holy spirit (the gift)/Christ IN you b.) holy spirit being placed ON someone, on a conditional basis. This was his explanations for events in the O.T. His stance was that the "natural" man could not commune with God unless he fell into category b.). He used, among other scriptures, a section of Romans to substantiate this. Furthermore, he stated that one's "fellowship" state was directly reliant on speaking in tongues and that God could not "talk" to you unless you are in fellowship. (This can be found on pg.10 of the A.C. syllabus) The exception to this, he said, was that if you were out of fellowship and God needed to talk with you, He would temporarily put spirit ON you. So, in my mind, at least, it becomes apparent that Wierwille did not equate "the spirit of man" with anything other than breath-life. ("It's that which makes you 'you'".----PFAL). Having said that, I wish to state that I have no desire to debate the veracity of the above stated concept. My only interest in highlighting this is to make it clear that Wierwille did, indeed, state (in a variety of ways) that he considered non-Christians to be "empties floating by" on life's big river, devoid of any communication enabling connection to God. -

Dear Ham I have gone 3-6 months without speaking in tongues. It came about as a result of a rather freakish traffic mishap. I was pedaling my banana bike on the local outerbelt, doing approximately 75MPH. Ordinarily, I rarely exceed 70MPH but I was running quite late for a presentation I was due to give for a group of local neuro-physicists. As a rule, I ordinarily wear my tight fitting helmet with re-enforced lucite face shield. Unfortunately, I had neglected to retrieve it from the dry cleaning store in a timely fashion and they sold it to some pimply faced kid with an English Racer bike. So, I wore the next best thing, my old Harvard crewing cap. These, of course, lack the aforementioned face shield. As luck would have it, some guy in an old Duesenberg with a bad paint job flew past me at excessive speed, causing gravel to fly toward my face, just as I was opening my mouth to sip a power drink. A very sharp piece of gravel nicked my tongue and caused it to swell extensively. As we all know, when you speak in tongues, there is an ever so slight accompanying movement of the actual, physical tongue. I had to quit speaking in tongues until the swelling subsided. Do you suppose Dr. Wierwille may have owned a banana bike? -

Between the iron gates of fate, The seeds of time were sown, And watered by the deeds of those Who know and who are known; Knowledge is a deadly friend When no one sets the rules. The fate of all mankind I see Is in the hands of fools.

I think God might actually be a motorcycle. Ya know? 'Cause Wierwille got a motorcycle as a gift and the giver has to be made of the same stuff that comprises the gift, right? Then, it came into manifestation as VP tooled up and down the roads of Cornfield, Ohio. Now, how much greater could a principle really get?

When I was but a lad, the shadow of the Lord fell upon my countenance and a mighty wind engulfed my presence. From the darkness, a mighty, booming voice was heard to declare, "I, the Lord, wilt teach thou to play piano like it has never before been played if thou wilt teach thy kid brother to play Chopsticks." Well, as my years are beginning to advance, my piano prowess has diminished greatly But, boy oh boy, can that kid brother of mine play the living daylights out of Chopsticks! is proof of my Divine encounter.

Wierwille said that people in the O.T. were only able to communicate with God when God placed spirit ON them. He further stated that this placement was conditional. If they violated the conditions, God would remove the spirit and render them incommunicado. When Adam and Eve sinned, they lost the spirit that was placed on them conditionally, thus, losing their connection with God. (according to Wierwille). As WordWolf has shown in his latest post, this is contradicted by verses 7 and 8 of Genesis. 7.And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8. And they heard the voice of the Lord God .... So----They violated the conditions, leaving them spiritless yet were still able to hear the voice of God? How, within the constructs of "The Great Principle" is that possible? -
For as many times as the "Great Principle" has been bantered around throughout the years, you would think some one might have at least demonstrated some scriptural basis for it. I'm just sayin'

I don't know, John. According to the chart illustrating The Great Principle, the originating source is outside one's self. -
Definitely a classic. I wonder why, though, Paul is not sporting his trademark Hofner.

It affects neurological activity in the the areas of the brain that are associated with processing of language, emotion and self image. ---------------------------------------------------- During an interview on 2006-SEP-20 by Steve Paulson, Andrew Newberg -- Associate Professor of Radiology, Psychiatry, and Religious Studies and Director for the Center for Spirituality and the Mind, at the University of Pennsylvania -- said that the region of the brain involved in language is not activated when a person speaks in tongues. He said: "Speaking in tongues is a very unusual kind of vocalization. It sounds like the person is speaking a language, but it’s not comprehensible. And when people have done linguistic analyses of speaking in tongues, it does not correspond to any clear linguistic structure. So it seems to be distinct from language itself. That’s interesting because we did not see activity in the language areas of the brain. Of course, if somebody is a deep believer in speaking in tongues, the source of the vocalizations is very clear. It’s coming from outside the person. It’s coming through the spirit of God. 11 They found decreased activity in the brain's frontal lobes, an area associated with self-control. One of the researchers, Andrew Newberg, said: "It’s fascinating because these subjects truly believe that the spirit of God is moving through them and controlling them to speak." The data partly confirms the subjects' beliefs. In fact, the subjects are not in control of their usual language centers as they spoke in tongues. edit: Please note that it doesn't say the subjects themselves are out of control. It says they are not in control of those portions of the frontal lobes that are associated with language. In other words, as has been noted, it is quite possible to dribble a basket ball and speak in tongues at the same time. -
He had hobbies??? Geeze, we were chastised for even suggesting we would like to have hobbies. Wasting all that time and money that we could be giving to the "ministry", dontcha know?.
