  1. Money and power-----they're intertwined, in my opinion.
  2. Watered Garden has posted about that sort of idea crossing her mind. I think she made reference to using mouse traps. :P
  3. Well, if your name actually happens to be Peter, maybe they were written to you. I'm just sayin'
  4. That's all it really was, ya know? It was just a commune, with a religious twist. (Sorry for dragging this off topic.)
  5. Middle of the night, white glove inspections. I suppose the severity of it might have varied according to the "house" you were in. Then again, I think inspections were done by F.L. coordiators. Too many years ago to remember all the details.
  6. Yes---It sucks. One particular time, we were locked in the BRC for a Momentus type weekend. I made the ghastly mistake of using the phrase, "I guess-----". Got my arse publicly reamed, six ways til Sunday.------"We don't GUESS, we KNOW!!!!!!"
  7. It was used as a way to control you and keep you in a subordinate position.... not too unlike barracks inspections in the Army.
  8. Hell, we got "busted" for improperly folded under-shorts!!
  9. Geeze, I wish you guys would quit being so negative. VP (You know he wasn't really a doctor, don't you?) Wierwille said right there in PLAF (the wonder class) that if The Way ever discovered evidence that contradicted their previous teachings, they would immediately make the necessary changes. See? That's why it's called The New DYNAMIC ("ever changing") Church. Please save all your questions until the final post of this thread. And remember, if you are ever in a position of just needing to know, feel free to write: The Lecher P.O. Box 328/Cloud #9 Old Dead Guy, Ohio 45871
  10. They sold them at the bookstore. Anyone with cash-in-fist could buy one.
  11. Yes, there were very specific rules that regulated "the proper manner of display" for the dove pin.
  12. Wierwille considered himself to be above the law.
  13. Correct----They used it to control present and future behavior, not to explain how the past was affecting you.
  14. Yes, there is a long history of the "grace will cover it" attitude in The Way. They used it as a license to do things that most Christians would take for granted as being sinful. Things like having sex with someone else's spouse. Wierwille is known for frequently saying, "Do what you like as long as you like what you do." Most honest people would recognize such an attitude for what it really is...... rationalization.
  15. Yes, I absolutely remember VPW teaching about the sins of the father being visited on his children and his children's children. This was all tied up in the idea that if you "tripped out" (left TWI), your progeny would have to pay for your indiscretion.
  16. Yes, it sounds suspitiously similar to a track from All Aboard called "Do The Best You Can."
  17. Yeah, I think he made punch cards for the loons, too, the loons that lived in New Knockwurst, Ohio.
  18. Liverpool Township---- Medina County, Ohio (The Frog Jump Capital of Ohio)
  19. Actually, there were 17. One died at one year old and one was still-born.

    Bribery

Yikes! Been here 4 years and never saw this before. http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/waydale/waydale-corps-notes/bribery-transcription.html
  21. Break the frosted grass. HaHaHa. Guess they must have missed that revelation that grass goes through dormant phases. They really should have spent more time speaking in tongues so that God could have told them about it.
  22. "Upon this (pet) rock I will build my church."
  23. Sorry, I just find it too funny thinking that God gave the revelation that resulted in Mr. Microphone.
