Worth repeating.

I don't have depth perception so I can't see anything (movie or otherwise) in 3-D. Give me a good, old, Woody Allen flick any day.

Based on what I gleaned from the overall message of that LINK, they are still quite preoccupied with subscription to a twisted rendering of II Timothy 2:15. But, good news! If you've been wondering how to operate revelation in your own life, they have a method that can help you. "People have not been taught how to understand things like figures of speech, Eastern customs, what revelation truly is, and the accuracy of the Word. Our ministry provides this service and direction."

From THIS link: “The Biblical research which was presented wonderfully built upon the foundation of the Word I knew, and it inspired me to enlarge my thinking as to how to apply the great truths of the Word to my life.” What does that even mean? Looking at it logically, devoid of emotion, it becomes apparent that the very essence of The Way's approach to the Bible is built on an erroneous understanding of II Timothy 2:15. Wierwille mistranslated, misinterpreted and misrepresented the meaning of this verse in order to promote his own agenda. How can one promote an organization as being a "research ministry" when the very "research" (II Timothy 2:15) the organization itself is built on is faulty?

Maybe it really just doesn't fit "like a hand in a glove". That would certainly make it a lot easier to understand why the contradictions exist.

My idea of a good time cruise. HERE

'all hands on deck, we've run afloat!' I heard the captain cry 'explore the ship, replace the cook: let no one leave alive!' Across the straits, around the horn: how far can sailors fly? A twisted path, our tortured course, and no one left alive We sailed for parts unknown to man, where ships come home to die No lofty peak, nor fortress bold, could match our captain's eye Upon the seventh seasick day we made our port of call A sand so white, and sea so blue, no mortal place at all We fired the gun, and burnt the mast, and rowed from ship to shore The captain cried, we sailors wept: our tears were tears of joy Now many moons and many Junes have passed since we made land A salty dog, this seaman's log: your witness my own hand

Geeze! For a minute there, I thought you were talking about your girlfriend. But now I see it's much more serious than I first thought. I'm really sorry, man. I'm at a loss for words. Can you pass the ketchup?

Oops. Didn't mean to make this doctrinal. I just wanted to answer soul searchers question. Some of this stuff seems pretty basic to most of us but I can see where a "newbie" might be very confused.

If there is, it's probably in the doctrinal forum. If not, you are welcome to start one. Now, as to the TWI explanation of the discrepancy between God of the OT and God of the NT. Several aspects of TWI theology come into play. First, in the PFAL class we were taught that the OT was not written to us but was beneficial for our learning. The example VPW used was a letter written directly to you as opposed to one that was written to someone else. The idea here is that the letter written to someone else may still hold valuable information even though it is not directed at you personally. In order to understand this concept, you need to understand that Wierwille was a "dispensationalist" His particular version of dispensationalism subdivided time into seven distinct dispensations, or "administrations" as he called them. (Original Paradise, Patriarchal, Law, Christ, Grace, Revelation, Final Paradise.) He maintained that we are currently in the dispensation of Grace. The second concept is that of the OT being divided into three distinct sections., The Law, The Prophets and Psalms. The third concept is that Wierwille maintained there are only three kinds of people in God's eyes, The Jews, The Gentiles and The Church of God. And finally, Wierwille taught that people in the OT could not understand "spiritual matters" because they were only body and soul. Once the new birth became available, he said, Man could now access God directly via the "Christ in him". ("the threefold man of body/soul/spirit") Thus, according to this concept, God had no choice but to speak to OT people in ways that could be understood by their non-spiritual, carnal minds. This, supposedly, explains the contradictions between the God of the OT and the God of the NT.

Another facet of this to consider is the idea that everything IN the Bible must be true. (once you understand the figures of speech, cultural idioms, yada, yada and more yada.) It's this idea that "everything fits like a hand in a glove; if even one thing doesn't fit, the whole thing falls to pieces." That doesn't leave much room for personal exploration and adventure, does it?

I wanted to bring THIS to the forefront again as a sort of reference point for new arrivals who may be bewildered by some of the seemingly radical testimony presented here.

To some degree, all cats will instinctively "hunt". What they learn from the mother cat is that it is part of the survival routine. (ie: eat what you kill.) That's why cats will bring you all sorts of dead mice and chipmunks. They haven't quite grasped that they are supposed to eat them to survive.

RFR may have coined the phrase, as it's used in TWI, but, it's an age old concept that was first, as far as I can tell, introduced to Wayfers on a mass scale in the Renewed Mind class in the early 1970s. My syllabus even includes two pages of sample schedules that we had to fill in as a homework assignment during the class.

Regarding healing of sickness: page 34 "All the manifestations of the spirit must be exercised for the healing of one thing only."

Maybe we could make a movie based on VPW's dying words. We could call it,"It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Cult". We could get a bunch of splinter leaders to play all the characters, in search of a hidden fortune.
