I believe it was Firesign Theater who once posed the question, "How can you be in two places at once when you're not anywhere at all?"

Vic the grandson kicks off new waycorps program
waysider replied to GrouchoMarxJr's topic in About The Way
Hi, sunballer15 Welcome to GSC. Here is something from their site that describes their goals: To Fearlessly Pursue an Understanding of these Principles: 1. Acquire an in-depth spiritual perception and awareness. 2. Receive training in the whole Word so as to be able to teach others. 3. Physical training making your body, the "vehicle" of communication of the Word, as vital as possible. 4. Practice believing to bring material abundance to you and the Ministry. 5. Go forth as leaders and workers in areas of concern, interest and need. You may or may not recognize those as being the old Way Corps principles. Speaking only for myself, I find principle #4 to be quite alarming, given what is now known about the true nature of "the law of believing". Equally alarming is the "material abundance" that was amassed originally by the efforts and sacrifices of the thousands of people who unwittingly participated in what amounted to a multi-level-marketing scheme. http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/radio/...ohn-juedes.html http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/editor...god-needed.html http://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=18902 It's also alarming to peek in on the dubious origins of PFAL, the class that started the whole ball rolling. http://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/index.php?showtopic=277 edited for typos and clarity -
Names People have varied reasons for using or not using real names. I prefer not to ask what their reasons are. The Way Corps site is closed corporation. You can't wander about the site unless you were WC or had a close relationship, such as a spouse or child. And that is fine with me. I have no desire to go there other than to perhaps find out "whatever became of (fill in the blank)"? If someone on that site is , for example, seeking employment or a business loan, a google search is not going to link them to a cornfield cult with which they might rather not be publicly associated. Lots of companies have sites that restrict access to "employees only". They're sometimes called INTRA-net. If one is not an employee or agent of such a company there is no reason for them to be there. This site is different. Anyone can walk in off the street, so to speak, and access all sorts of information. You don't need to log in or even join unless you want to actively participate (ie: post, PM, etc.). The open aspect of this site serves an important role in providing people with a place where they can freely and anonymously access information that might otherwise be buried.

Hypothetically speaking, suppose I owned a business that specialized in steam powered pencil sharpeners. Not much interest in steam powered pencil sharpeners these days. Seems there was a quality control problem some odd years ago that soured the market for steam powered pencil sharpeners. What to do. What to do. Hmmmmm----Maybe I could open my own version of the $1.22 store and market them as alternative fuel powered pencil sharpeners. Might have customers rushing in by the bus load. You just never know.

He might be a nice enough guy. I don't know ----Never met him. Makes ya wonder, though, if anyone there is aware of the sordid history behind the books on that shelf. Do they offer classes? Do they use those books in the classes? Does the copyright owner collect royalties for their use? Maybe the PFAL franchise system is living incognito. Or maybe they're just storing them up in anticipation of Burn The Chaff Day.

Well, I found out in early 2008 that I never really had any job security to begin with. At least I have a head start on some of the newly furloughed on how to deal with unemployment.

"It's the Word Keeds" vs. "It's the Money Keeds"
waysider replied to Oakspear's topic in About The Way
Disclaimer---The following is personal opinion I think VPW was very much like the fictional character, Harold Hill, in Meredith Willson's "The Music Man". He knew full well he was really a con man but reveled in others' heroic perception of him. Beneath it all, he never lost sight that it was a scam. LCM, on the other hand, accepted the myth of heroism while ignoring the reality. Maybe that's where wierwille blew it. He failed to realise that LCM couldn't separate reality from illusion. -
I feel the same way. --------------------------------------------- Something else I've thought about: Ever notice how lots of people who come here haven't had much previous on-line experience? I know I surely hadn't. Yet, because of the nature of the site's purpose, people reach out and help each other to navigate and search and find answers. You don't find that on many other sites where the order of the day seems to be "every man for himself". GSC is more than just a web site. It's a community.

I remember it being Household Holidays in about the mid 1970s. We were well schooled in its pagan origins. I think I must have been gone already (at least mentally) when it was called Ho-Ho. In my opinion, it was kind of a rationalization that made it "o.k." for folks who were on assignments away from home to return and celebrate with their families without actually celebrating the so called pagan nature of it. So it was "household" in a family context rather than the "One True Household" sense. Incidentally, the sowers site has photos of them celebrating "Christmas" for whatever that's worth.

Mix dry ingredients together thoroughly. mix 1 cup of the flour mixture with the dried fruits and nuts, mix the rest of the flour with the egg oil and fruit juice Then combine this with the dried fruit and nut mixture. Line 2 greased Loaf Pans 8.5x4.5x2.5 with brown paper or parchment. pour batter into the pans put a pan of water on the lower oven rack and bake for the cakes fro 2.5 -3 hours after baking allow the cakes to cool for 15 minutes then remove from the pans. Do not remove paper until the cakes are thoroughly cooled. Store by wrapping tightly in aluminum fool and storing in a jar in a cool dark place. For the Booze part I think you add it to the cake in the jar but We never did the booze with it

Never been a big fan myself but here's one that's been around since Pluto was a pup. We sold these as a fund raiser when I was in high school. http://www.yahoocake.com/cgi-bin/yahoo/MANR-TMRing.htm

They did the same thing with Pentecost. Yammering on and on about how we shouldn't esteem one day above the next only to, often times, make Pentecost Sunday the most heralded day of the year at HQ. Now, my intent is not to denigrate the significance of The Day of Pentecost to followers of Christianity. (Thought I better make that clear before "the strawman" makes an appearance.)

Another factor that I think is relevant to wayfers in particular, is that counseling by an outside source was considered taboo. So, not only were people deprived of valid intervention, they were subjected to advice that had a strong potential for destructiveness.
