    Halloween

If memory serves me correctly, the year is 1963, Bobby (Boris) Pickett, The Monster Mash. 'course it could be the altzheimers kickin' in too... :D My 2 cents... Nomad888
  2. Why have we not heard much from Rosalie? Perhaps she is a believer in the words of Mark Twain: "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." Perhaps... My 2 cents... Nomad888
  3. I've been there too. Even in my situation where my family was never dissed and still wants me among them, I still get this craving to be around people who think like me, or who have at least had a similar experience as I have. That desire is in all of us. This is why cliques form at school or work or other situations. Our little clique is called the Greasespot Cafe. My 2 cents... Nomad888
  4. Let's see... I went over 50 two years ago, but for some reason, I still feel 20-ish. I keep wondering why they don't card me when I purchase cigarettes or booze. I've been having AARP's letters returned to sender, but they haven't gotten the message yet. Retire?!? Doesn't that mean you get tired again? I've been doing that for years! Every morning, I keep telling this gray haired guy in the mirror to get out of the way so I can see myself, but he won't budge. The smart-a$$ keeps copying my moves. My 2 cents... Nomad888

    Naming Names.

    ??? Me confuzzeled... My 2 cents... Nomad888
  6. Seems slightly better on my home computer. Same with my work place system. The speed has increased greatly on my laptop, at least since I traded the Pentium 133Mhz in for this 2.4Ghz laptop, but I think the improvment is on my end. :D--> My 2 cents... Nomad888
  7. I knew someone who claimed to be a psychic, and he would claim to "read" people's minds. From what I witnessed of this guy, he had an accuracy of about 60% where his victi... er, subject would say he was dead on. After observing this guy for a few weeks, I came to the conclusion that he was simply an expert at reading people's body language. I say this because the 40 or so percent of the time he was wrong, he could not see the person he was "reading" very well, nor did he know them personally. The ones he read accurately he could see their mannerisms, and he already knew some things about them from associates or friends. This "personal prophesy" thing is (IMHO) crap. It is just a new name for an old trick (or as George put it, "...a joke..."). My 2 cents... Nomad888
  8. I was BORED to death one evening in 1997, and I did an Alta Vista search for "The Way" just for a lark. Through that search, I found Transnet's "No Way Out" magazine site, and Waydale. After it was announced that Waydale was shutting down, someone posted a link to GSC. So I registered there (at EasyBoard) and later here at Da Spot, and I've been here ever since. My 2 cents... 9. Hmmm Belle. Maybe that's why he didn't send the envelope back too. I had it neutered before I sent it so it couldn't eff. :D--> My 2 cents... Nomad888
  10. LCM is a splinter "group" unto himself. :D--> My 2 cents... Nomad888
  11. The first indication that I got that something wasn't right with TWI was at the Military Advance in San Jose, CA, November 10/11, 1984. LCM and Howard Allen were introduced to the senior military people who were there in uniform from Twentynine Palms, CA. I was the senior enlisted man present. As Martindale and I shook hands, he didn't look me in the eye as normal men would. Instead, he looked over my shoulder at the "scenery" behind me. The straw that broke the camel's back (so to speak) was a couple years later when I sent him a letter detailing how the "Father in the Word" title that they had confered on VPW was, in a word, crap. Martindale didn't even have the decency to respond in kind. Instead, he sent my letter back with two bible verses scrawled in red marker pen on the back of page 1. Shortly after that, I left the ministry. My 2 cents... Nomad888
  12. Have you tried running "Spyware Blaster" on your system? If not, you can get it here: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html What it does is installs itself in the background and prevents anything that it recognizes from being installed, or reinstalled once Spybot or Ad Aware (or whatever) removes it. Just like Spybot S&D, and Ad Aware, you have to keep it updated, but it's sole purpose is to keep spy crap from being reinstalled. This program is also free, and recommended by the folks at Spybot (see the "Immunize" section of the Spybot program). Another thing I discovered is if you simply "Logoff" your OS and do not turn the computer (CPU) off when not in use, spyware will reinstall themselves while you aren't logged in - regardless of what you're running to prevent trouble. So, if you have to leave the CPU turned on, don't log out until someone else can log in immediately. Otherwise, turn the CPU off when you're not using it. My 2 cents... Nomad888
  13. As a child, I would lash out and stomp my feet and smack and punch anything in reach. Then I learned that my Mother and Father would hit back and punish me in other ways. So I learned that such a tantrum is not a good idea. As a teenager, I'd tell people off and shake my fist at them. Then I learned that others would retaliate in some way that I didn't like. In a couple of instances, it made an enemy out of a friend. Still not a good idea. As an adult, I assess the situation and formulate the appropriate response. In cases where I cannot accept the result, but can't do anything about it, I remind myself that vengence belongs to God (if there really is any vengence to be had in the first place). I've learned over the years that when God gets vengence, the result is better than ANYTHING that I could ever do (not to mention that it won't get me jailed either). My 2 cents... Nomad888

    One hand.

Um, and a partridge in a pear tree?? :D--> My 2 cents... Nomad888
  15. I'd say learn to lie like hell and keep a straight face, but they already have that one perfected. My 2 cents... Nomad888
  16. It also wouldn't be the first time that TWI ripped off someone else's doctrine w/o recognition of the source, while claiming to teach something as it hasn't been taught since the first 100 years, or somethin' like that. My 2 cents... Nomad888
  17. The easiest way that I know of to get rid of annoying programs with Win98SE is to shut down the computer, then restart it in "Safe Mode". What Safe Mode does is loads only a very basic version of Win98, but it does not load any adware, non-Microsoft drivers, or any other kind of software that you normally run on start-up. Even your anti-virus software will not auto load. You will have to start it manually to do the scan. The good part about this is that you can run Spybot S&D, Adaware, McAfee Anti-virus, Norton Antivirus, etc, and they will be able to clean out the 'bots and bugs (viruses) without them reinstalling themselves. This works in 99% of cases. To do this, start with an orderly shut down of your computer (Start button, then Shut Down from the menu - DO NOT simply turn off the power as this could cause Windows to become corrupted). Next, turn the power back on and when the first boot screen appears on your monitor, begin pressing the F8 key over and over until the start menu appears. This may take several key presses and the CPU might beep at you, but keep on pressing F8 until the Start Menu appears. At the Start Menu, either type the number of the "Start Windows in Safe Mode" line, or arrow down until that line is highlighted, then press ENTER. Windows will start in Safe Mode. Your monitor screen will be losded in 640 X 480, graphics resolution with the 16 color pallet, which will look really weird compared to what you're likely used to looking at, however NOTHING else except Windows itself should be running. At this point, any program (like Spybot, or McAfee, etc...) you want to use can be ran on your computer, but you will have to start it up manually. Spybot, etc, will be able to remove everything they find without a restart and you won't have any of the 'bots or bugs reinstalling themselves after being deleted. When you're done hunting down the 'bots and bugs, just do an orderly shutdown and restart normally. Everything should be returned to normal. Some exceptions to this would be if you run software like Kazza, or DIVex (free version), which automatically installs Adware on your system as soon as it is ran. Another exception would be if you're running AdSubtract with the "Show AdSubtract Toolbar in Internet Explorer" box checked. To do this, AdSubtract installs a 'bot called, "7Faast". In turn, 7Faast greatly slows your system down when downloading your information to it's servers behind your back. There are other programs that you could be running that would do this sort of thing as well. If so, you will need to delete them, or have the software vendor's Tech Support people help you fix the problem. It would be a good idea to run Paw's anti-hijack program right after finishing the deletions, and again after the normal restart just to make sure you got everything. That's all I can think of for now. Hope this helps... Nomad888
  18. Just a note on the, "They don't get viruses like windows do." statement. The reason for this is the same reason that you may not be able to find a particular program written for the MAC platform. There are far fewer software developers and malicious code hackers in the MAC world than in the PC world. There ARE Macintosh viruses out there. I had a MAC a few years back, got a virus, and had to go through a lot of downtime and trouble before I got rid of it. MAC viruses do exist, there just aren't nearly as many of them. MACs are otherwise OUTSTANDING, though expensive, machines. The choice is yours. Good Luck! :)--> :)--> :)--> My 2 cents... Nomad888
  19. What version of Windows are you running? It helps to know that since each version has it's own set of unique quirks. As far as the Internet Explorer (IE) Browser, you may need to reinstall it separately, depending on your version of Windows. I highly recommend switching to a non-Microsoft browser such as Mozilla, or Opera, or Eudora just to name a few that work very well. I use Mozilla myself, and I don't have any of the problems with it that I had with IE. Also, have you tried Spybot Search & Destroy to eliminate the adware? Version 1.3 is the current version and (IMHO) is the best adware eliminator there is at present. If you are using the free version of Adaware, it's actually cripleware (not fully functional). Spybot is free (of course they ask for donations) and very effective. The paid-for version of Adaware (as far as I know, I no longer use it) works as well as Spybot S&D. My 2 cents... Nomad888
  20. Interesting twist Mr P-Mosh. TWI (allegedly) trying to paganize Christianity? Didn't some Roman Emporer (Constantine?) do that already? Even with Jonny's explanation, it sounds more theory than conspiracy to me. :D--> My 2 cents... Nomad888
  21. It may be that LCM comes from a family like mine down in northern Alabama (yes, I know he's from Oklahoma). My mother's side of our family all use their middle names because they are their Christian names. Most all of their first names are Cherokee names, but they go by their Christian names because of unsavory elements like the KKK, Arian Nation, and other such a$$holes. My 2 cents... Nomad888
  22. I must admit, I do miss much of what was available when I was involved with TWI, some of which you've mentioned. The comraderie, the special times together and such. The friends I thought I had, and those who really are. The things I don't miss are the pressure to take the next or newest classes. The need to find, convince, and pressure others into taking the classes. I don't miss the awkward stress involved when someone asked if I planned to go WOW or "Corps" (or the "that's NOT funny" look that I got when I told them that I was already in the Corps - MARINE Corps, that is). I don't miss the times when my natural family and I fought because I felt the need to tell them that the church we grew up in is wrong in many ways. I still believe that, but we don't fight over it anymore. I don't miss hearing rumors of evil being perpetrated by TWI leaders, only to be told that it was the adversary attacking the leadership, and then to find out later that the rumors were indeed true. I don't miss hearing about members in good standing suddenly being shunned (later called Marked & Avoided) just because they wrote a research paper, or taught something, or expressed an opinion that contradicted even the smallest things that were wrong with TWI's doctrine (never mind the HUGE ones like adultery being sinful...). There are a lot of other things I don't miss about TWI, but I understand what you're saying. I wish everyone knew the true God and loved Him. I wish everything in this world were perfect. I wish everyone would do God's will. My 2 cents... Nomad888
  23. How far back is the announcement? Where is it going to be (I'm currently in Pennsylvania)? I've heard that it's Columbus Day Weekend. I need to figure out the logistics to see if it's possible for me to pass through wherever it is by then, but I'll give it my best try. :)--> :)--> My 2 cents... Nomad888
  24. I tried the Chat room as requested. At first, I couldn't get in because the thing kept telling me that I needed a Java Plug-in to access the Chat Room. It took me a while to get the Java plug-in, but after I istalled it I managed to go there and log in, talk to myself, and leave. I'll try later to see if I can "see" anyone else. BTW, Paw, since when do we have to log-in to lurk the "Open" forum? I've been away a while and it surprised me. I expect it when I want to post, but just to lurk? Must be a WayGB problem... My 2 cents... Nomad888
  25. I know what you mean Imbus, although he told me that he has never been to any kind of therapy about it. He simply learned how to deal with it on his own. My point, though, is that some abused people become unusually quiet and overly cooperative instead of being unruly, mean, and nasty. Kinda like the guy Kenny Rogers sang about in the song "Coward of the County". He held it all in until one day he just exploaded (although the circumstances of the abuse in that song were quite a bit different). My 2 cents... Nomad888
