  1. far as I know, most retain to varying degrees twi "beliefs"/memories as a source of comfort. that you guys can work out, that's always in the cards
  2. "my righteousness I hold fast, I will not let it go" It'd be interesting to hear what she thinks of that verse.
  3. you should also realize how crushing the reality of it all will be to her. not everyone is willing to accept it.
  4. love of power, elitism she was taught since she was born she is better than everyone else she has a connection with the Supreme One few have she has access to special knowledge few do she can see what's really going on in life, as few can she is part of the "invisible" resistance, the enemy must be countered YOU lack special knowledge, you can't understand yet. you're a babe in the word still. you can't see the priorities yet. ----- it's all bull. she has nothing important to do. she likes the feeling of importance and is really just a giant Q-tip's pawn. (the q-tip is the president he he). she's not a Jedi. she talks to you the way she's always been talked too. She thinks it's loving and caring! she likely wants you to bend and twist into her lifeplan. if you resist or push she could see it as a threat, an attack. you never really know. There are threads on JW sites just like this. Same old scenario.
  5. I "left" because of the rank and file. They work hard at their lies. You expect lies from leadership like you would any world leader. That is not as disappointing.
  6. I've been reading some book by a Dr. McNamara fellow. "acculturation" is I think part of what I was describing. It happens before you're two, while the brain is developing. It's like the first language you learn. It isn't your choice but it happens and stays put. You can work around it but not with ease. so yes twi, like western values and the english language, will always be at my foundation. IMO.
  7. well whatever side you're looking at, while some of you were having a good time, others may have been watching you carefully. and they don't always agree it's constructive to remember those times as good. ditto
  8. not really your take is for you I guess is what you're saying. how useful that is I don't see.
  9. it's not about whether the trinity is true or not. it's not about beliefs. I don't see followers of twi as having any real beliefs. In fact, it's more important to them that the bible says nothing about Jesus being God than whether or not God and Jesus actually exist! It's about information. They only allow information from certain sources to be considered in their minds. Take the idea that the trinity wasn't heard of in christianity until the 3rd century. (probably what you GF is convinced of). How does she know this is an accurate statement? just ask her in your own way why she believes what she believes and to explain. maybe provide sources. twi does teach that considering is doubting is an attack of the devil or some silliness. You may want to discuss why discussing your "beliefs" is important first.
  10. what the heck is the other side of the story in the first place? What's the story? My own birth was supposed to be miraculous. without twi I wouldn't be. but the good times can still suck it.
  11. many are not hurt because they won't face reality. Others can see what twi has done to them. They are oblivious, because they only remember the good times.
  12. I mean people. For awhile I stopped thinking of twi and websites. but then people would show up, and get inside my head, and trigger weird things, because I had let down the defenses. twi is people. math is important whether you like it or not. 3 acorns under that rock, one behind that bush they should be groveling at your paws for showing them "the way".
  13. a few? that's another topic
  14. I don't know that I told you to do anything. If I did, ignore it. For me, burning bridges has been the right thing to do. That's not for anyone to answer.
  15. I used to have to hear that stuff all the time geisha. burning bridges is a long process when the other side won't accept it. acknowledging that twi was a mistake is just far more important to me than hearing that stuff. just me I guess. neither set out to hurt anyone, but did anyway. it's a law of nature we can't get around far as I can tell.
  16. have you looked at Jehovah witness sites? for the trinity talk and stuff
  17. I still think focusing on the good times is as unproductive as focusing on the bad. Like a car full of kids smoking pot who run over someone's dog or worse. Those kid's had a good time. And you can never take that away from them.
  18. right sure you could learn from it I guess. a universal truth would imply that one not need read the bible, ever. these universal truths should be found elsewhere also? they would be the heart of the matter? a more modern writing that wouldn't need to be "decoded" (interpreted in light of the times etc etc)? wouldn't that simplify things and avoid confusion such as in the topic of this thread? shouldn't there be writings about today's churches' problems? the bible is more of a set of historical documents then? one would view the bible in the same way one studies history in general?
  19. hey mstar, I don't know if you saw the game on thursday. both teams had issues with the umps calls I missed the top half but in the bottom half of an inning varitek was thrown out for arguing the call, then francona. varitek did it purposely to protect beckett. francona was trying to protect varitek. I think varitek had already homered once or twice, then he went and took a punch for another. One reason he wears a "C" I guess.
  20. I don't think there's a "Word of statistics interpreting" manifestation. So I don't know that he can handle the numbers. If anything it would show that the group he's targeting ain't here, for the most part.
  21. some would say lcm is really a good person. it's just a matter of perspective. there's really no definition for "good". people I consider liars and crooks, others consider good people. I guess both are true. the exact same event could be good for one and bad for another. I guess both are true.
  22. I believe I witnessed some of the "good times" had by what I considered adults at the time. At the ROA, limb meetings, twigs, homes, weddings and such. I have my memory of it. They (those who were there) have theirs. So when I hear of the times and how they were "good", . . . I'm a little skeptical. Though maybe some did indeed have a good time. But knowing now what it all was intended to plant, nourish, and grow into; Did that energy of folks having a "good time" contribute to Wayworld? The dark side of twi, didn't it have it's base in the bright side? The "fun and excitement", so to speak, of the '70s set the stage for the '90s?
  23. I don't know when. It does means something to me and others I know. It's hard not to use general references, or you'll say too much.
