I've been told by people who leave HQ that, (we'll call him Rev. Buttwad), they are told not to speak negatively of HQ when they leave or they will be held legally liable. Something to do with the paperwork they sign when they come in. So some people won't talk about twi, here, there or anywhere, for fear of getting sued. Maybe something to consider as twi adapts to websites like this.

I don't follow what you are saying. If twi were destroyed, it can't hurt you anymore. It will always be around. It will always inflict pain.

Are new people at GSC people really in the dark? How much dirt do you need to know before the light bulb goes off? I talk to "old-timers" in person and they say they didn't have any idea that The Way is a cult. Then I remind them of things I heard when I wasn't old enough to go to school, and then they just sulk, or some people just get more religious. They're just on autopilot. Everyone in The Way knows they are in a cult. Everyone who left knows it was a mistake. Is nobody willing to admit it until they hear one of their peers say it first? Don't those who "join" The Way usually have issues to start with? Aren't those the issues The Way preys upon? Aren't those the issues that need to be dealt with? Who really joined The Way for doctrinal reasons? And, once "ex-wayfers" get together and discuss the "Whoa, what happened?" What next? Does anyone grab a sledge-hammer, walk to New Knoxville, and unleash another form of medicine on the "Victor Paul Wierwille Prevailing Word Auditorium," that building that was built with the money and labor of the "old-timers?"

Can't people who left The Way years ago find help elseware? What is there to say that hasn't been said? The people in The Way today know what's on Greasespot. It doesn't phase them. They've heard it all, even the young people. Is this just a site where people can just feel like they are doing something?

I don't understand what purpose this site serves. I used to think it was about stopping The Way International. Now I see it is just a social site. In some ways now it just feeds the monster. Paw, What harm is there in closing this site down? Just do it. Be done with this.

The most useful information on "About The Way" forum is in the older threads imo. When was the last time a good nugget of info was posted on the forum that wasn't posted already? The new threads just bury the old ones and make searching for info a PITA. I've had people who've seen greasespot come to me just to help clear things up. This forum's purpose was served years ago. Why waste more energy trying to moderate it? Keep the best threads up front and archive the others. The "connecting" forums, people are searching for other people, might be the only ones of real value to leave open imo.
  7. I got mine. take me off you mailing list ya damned wayfers.
  8. Things I've heard people (50 years and older) and in for more than 30 years, and still in, say: "How was I suppossed to know?" "The churches didn't teach us this stuff" "I'm too old to change" "Well, you don't know everything" (concerning religion) "No church is perfect" "All my friends are in it" "Have you actually read the "Council of Nicea?" "You have to pick a new church before you leave the old one. Which one is right?" "All the bad people are gone" "What they do at Headquarters and teach on the field are two different things"
  9. Yep, seems like there's plenty of folks out there who see love as a delusion.
  10. That all makes sense. I was wondering if it had to do with new parks too. At Fenway you see people hanging over everything banging on walls and such. I guess older ballparks are just "cozier". --- Anyone else annoyed about the A-rod announcement during Game 4 of the WS? http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb Yeah, my team is about the win the series and I'm thinking about A-rod vs Lowell for next season.
  11. I must say I was a little disappointed with the Rockies fans' cheering. I didn't really find it that intimidating (like at older team stadiums). The most catchy thing they had was "Tu-lo!" or something. The Fenway crowd was referred to as an "X" factor. Maybe the it was just the television reception or something. I dunno.
  12. Suda, I wonder how common church-attending atheists are too. I can tell you my wife and I's closest "post-twi" friends are couples with young children. In each case one person is an atheist while the other is a "mild" christian. I think there are a lot of people who don't attend church for themselves, but for their kids.
  13. Congratulations! and, I'm guessing he's a Broncos fan?
  14. but that's still only one taco? Too bad we can't upgrade to a chalupa.
  15. I remember this coming up after Mrs O passed away. I guess she went the "proper" way.
  16. I think it's the 30th from 2-5 pm. Most of us will be at work. I don't know that everyone is willing to make the effort for one measly taco. But hey, it's free food.
  17. Wasn't there a number of quotes of vpw stating that he didn't know if there was a God or heaven? (They were usually quoted when I asked how we knew anything to be true etc.) Was he really an atheist then? Maybe a lot of religious leaders are atheists.

  19. I would call this a religion. not that a god is involved, but it sounds very i dunno, not real. Some animals kill for fun. Yes, there's evidence for what you're saying, like when that wild lion raised a baby impala. But why do killer whales sometimes play catch with seal before killing it? There's no need. Maybe they're retarded? Lot's of male animals kill the young of their own species, because it ain't theirs. (and the chimp warfare I mentioned already) And dogs are beta wolves. The genetic followers of the pack. Are alpha wolves as empathetic? empathy is natural sure, but so is "hey, let's go kill something." Atheism doesn't mean "no religion" yes? Is there another word for this?
  20. I have an aunt and uncle who were atheists for a long time. They were so much fun. then an angel visited my aunt, and they converted to christianity. Then they weren't so much fun.
  21. If it is all just bunk, then we get into the "what's a moral highground" argument. Nature says we kill to eat, eat to live. I think Malthus pointed out there's not enough to go around. Jane Goodall's work demonstrates that "war" is not unique to humans. "Morality" distilles(sp?) down to preserve yourself and preserve your offspring. Helping others around helps with that, but only so much. I can see a desire for a supernatural in order to resolve this conflict. That would be nice. When I speak to Wayfers about twi's issues, (folks who've previously been in churches/religions) they sometimes say "Well, my old church/religion had the same issues". So I kinda see my resentment with twi as a resentment with all religion.
  22. I feel the sox have a must win game tonight. I haven't watched the rox before, but I feel by the time this series is out west, the rust will be knocked off. And from what I hear the rox can be very good. I'd like to see the series won in Fenway anyway, with the fans.
  23. Did you see the movie "Happy Feet"? I got the impression from that movie (and others) that our culture in general wants to slowly squeeze out religion. This was a movie for children, was it not?
