"The Untouchables"? George

And who could forget Richard Dawson in "The Running Man," playing an even smarmier character than his ****** **** persona! George By the way, is there some reason we're not actually mentioning ****** ****? -->

I believe Sharon is right, though I'm at a loss to guess the "Traxx" connection! (I'm SO ashamed!) :)--> George

Though I must decline your invitation, please accept my heartfelt congratulations! --> Make sure to post some pictures! George

As long as we're derailing anyway, did you notice that in Next Generation, Klingons never beat ANYBODY except other Klingons? (In Deep Space 9, they occasionally beat the Jemm Hadar, but that's only because the Klingons were the "good guys" by then.) Heck, even Traxx could take on a couple Klingons!! George

That's depressing. When I was there, it was always a FIRST-RATE cult!! :D--> George

Movies that are screaming to be remade
GeorgeStGeorge replied to Steve!'s topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
Traxx, of course. Maybe people would actually watch it, this time. Robert Davi could still be the bad guy (he hasn't changed in fifteen years); Conan O'Brien as Traxx and Reese Witherspoon as the mayor. George -
"Wholly Moses"? George

With Priscilla Barnes as Sue and Robert Davi as Dr. Doom? George

And Eva wan't exactly young then, either! I think Eddie was perfect for the part, though. He was able to carry off exasperation with that great baritone voice. (Leeeesa! Ehhhhb!! Mr. Haney!!) I heard that Carroll O'Connor was also up for the part. I don't think it would have worked as well. (Aww geeze, Liser!) George

Lindyhopper is right about the group forming during their WOW year. It was in Chicago around 1980. (I was still in Illinois at the time.) I thought that they all went Corps, staying together through various assignments so they could continue to perform. On the other hand, I haven't heard anything about them for 25 years. George

It looks "campy." I hope I'm right. George

Yes. It wasn't until I saw that he was 99 that I realized he must have been in his 60's during Green Acres! That was fairly common for supporting characters, but not for leading men. George

As I recall, she was pretty much in charge of Way Productions for a long time. With the possible exception of the Corps, WP was TWI's biggest operation. When Don W. stepped down, it probably made sense to someone to replace him with another bureaucrat. --> I can't speculate on the possibility of her having "the goods" on other BOT members; but I can't rule it out, either. This brings up an interesting point: if there had been better supervision, would the teachers have agreed to the rock-collecting as punishment? Without some more details, I'm not sure how I would feel about it. How insubordinate was the child? (Blew off a couple assignments, refused to do any schoolwork, or something in between?) How long was the punishment supposed to last? George

I understand that she was LEADING for a while, but had to slow down when she was very low on fuel. She just needs a nice, practical, fuel-efficient car! George

I've always been a "DC-zombie"; but I never miss a chance to see a good Marvel movie, either. The ever-lovin' Thing was always one of my favorite Marvel characters, so I'm looking forward to it. George

Raf is correct. He's obviously well-versed in Shadoe Stevens's movies! George
-
So are mine, of course. I kind of hope most people see some tongue in cheek here. When I read your post "I kind of thought, "Traxx," starring Shadoe Stevens? Sheesh! Was that even in theaters? For what, a week in 1987? But okay." I inferred that you were thinking "Traxx" BEFORE Sharon gave the answer. Go rent it. If you don't like it, I'll send you $2 (or whatever it costs to rent a movie these days). (This is to Raf, though I feel relatively certain that anyone watching it will enjoy it.) George

"End of Days"? George

Shadoe Stevens was the announcer for Hollywood Squares for many years, so his voice would be more recognizable than his face. He did actually sit in a square for a while, as well. Anyway, I really enjoyed the movie. Raf, however, found it somewhat galling, I think. I admit that I told him to "get over it." :o--> In retrospect, that may have been presumptious of me, because I haven't seen themovie "through his eyes." Just because MY experience with "Traxx" was a blessing, it does not mean that everyone's experience with "Traxx" was, as well. I apologize if I have offended anyone here with my personal views of the movie. George

Sudo, you probaly have to live in the Midwest to remember Hamm's beer. Of course, with Hamm's commercials appearing every inning of Cubs games, it's hard to forget "From the land of sky blue wa-a-ters..." even after thirty years. Most of the commercials had a guy sketching the bear on a cocktail napkin, the sketch becoming a live cartoon involving the cap from a a Hamm's bottle. George ChattyKathy, you're right. this is a fun thread, though i doubt I'll pick up the 34 pages I've missed!
