  1. To me, the thoughts, ideas, emotions, outpourings and liberations that occur on this site and others outweigh any deficiencies in spelling or grammer grammar.

I had been out a fairly long time before I found Waydale, and subsequently, Greasespot, and thought I was pretty much over any intense feelings for the Way or its teachings. These places have helped me to heal from hurts and sadness I didn't even know I had.

I wouldn't ever want any posters here to be discouraged from posting because their command of the language doesn't meet expectations. We all come from different backgrounds and educational experiences. I try to glean the ideas from a post and "translate" misspellings mentally. For me, the ideas being conveyed are the most important consideration.

    On the other hand....

    Paragraphs are good. :)

  2. AND......

if you realize that, "No," is still an answer to prayer - but you still feel no condemnation.

And you know you are at least on your way out of a cult when you understand that "No" is a complete sentence, needing no further explanation or justification.

  3. ...I thought he should have aged advance mr. christianson to look in his late fourties or in his fifties or even sixties.for a man who did so much to ties up all the loose ends in all 6 movies I thought it was an oversite on his part.

    Well, here's another opinion.

Obi-Wan told Luke Darth Vader "murdered" Anakin Skywalker, from a certain point of view.

The end scene in Return of the Jedi showed Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anakin as Force entities, and depicted them as they were at the time of their death. So, from a certain point of view, you could say that was what Anakin Skywalker looked like at the time of his "death".

Of course, that doesn't take into account Darth Vader's redemptive act at the end of "Return" of destroying the Emperor and saving Luke and his friends. Was that enough to "turn him back" into Anakin Skywalker, Jedi Knight?

  4. Making fun of a fellow human who has been caught "with his pants down" imparts knowledge in what way?

Oh, I think it's very useful knowledge - it would tell me to avoid a group who would make fun of that poor sonovagun like the plague.

  5. ...I remember being corrected by a leader never to wish anyone "sweet dreams" when they went to sleep, because if you were dreaming, then you were not controlling your mind properly, or you had unfinished business from your day. A believer who was in fellowship with God would not need to dream. SO, since I had already stopped daydreaming, I started trying to stop dreaming at night as well.

Didn't work. Man, did I condemn myself for that one for a while, before I realized that the statement was totally ridiculous after I did some reading about what functions dream serve. I figured this leader was probably wrestling with condemnation as well, but when I talked to them about it they said that we dream but shouldn't remember our dreams.

Anyone else out there ever heard this one?

Oh hell yeah, heard that one too. Just another indication of the type and amount of control TWI tried to exert over its followers - even in our sleep!

  6. BTW, one other note: in Prince George's County, Maryland, they banned smoking in all restaurants and bars. All indoor public places.

Except one. The cigar lounge Skybox in Redskins Stadium.

things that make you go hmmmmm.....

Don't worry, Mark. When the new state law goes into effect next year, even that will have to go smokeless.

Not sure if there's an exemption for smoke shops or not, but I wouldn't think the skybox would qualify.

  7. For once I have to agree with Satori, but maybe not for the same reasons.

The title of this thread insinuates that the person or persons being discussed actually have ambiguous genitalia, the biological condition having nothing to do with sexual orientation.

    Anybody get an actual glimpse?

    Hi Catcup,

"Her Holy Hermaphrodites" was not the original title of this thread. It was "Her Holy Dyk*ship"

There were objections to the term, and the title thread was changed.

I agree, though. It's kind of a misleading term.

Here's an alternate thread title: "Her Holy Ambiguous Whateverness" :wink2:

And just for the record, I'm not terribly concerned about who is sleeping with whom. I'm more outraged about the hypocracy of it all. People's lives savaged and reputations viciously maligned (most of the time behind their backs) based on nothing more than "genuine spiritual suspicion", while those at the top lived evil continually.

Well, their day will (or already has) come. God is not mocked.

  8. We want to go on a 4 day vacation when school is first out. We want someplace we've never been before within 8 hours of Columbus, Ohio and NO the cornfield is not an option. We had thought of the eastern shore of Maryland, but they are all booked up because the National Poodle Breeders' Association is having a week long convention there. (I am NOT making that up). Then we thought of the area around the Door Peninsula of Wisconsin but that is a bit too far. Pennsylvania or Virginia or even West ByGod Virginia would be nice. We like neat stuff that is off the beaten path. Never eat in a Bob Evans if we can find a Mom & Pop where the farmers all eat and gab.

Any suggestions? I'm running out of steam.

    WG

    WG,

If you haven't completely ruled out a mini-vacation on Maryland's Eastern Shore, I'd like to suggest someplace like Chestertown, Rock Hall or Galena in Kent County. Fairly small, quaint, rural towns, slow-paced and picturesque.

Here's a link to Chestertown, which also contains links to other towns, events and attractions in Kent County.

I myself have not had the opportunity to go to these places, but everyone I talk to who has been there loves it.

Of course, if fast-paced and exciting is what you're looking for, then yeah, NYC! :)

  9. sorry belle i haven't read this

    finnegan

there's got to be an irish joke out there about this sob

    Hey excie, here's one:

An Irishman walks out of fellowhip.....

(kind of a variant on the old "An Irishman walks out of a bar.....)

    :)

*I'm kidding. I hope VF is doing better. Although not my most favorite Way leader, he did provide me with an eye-opener which stays with me to this day.*

  10. It only takes one old wayfer - to change the light bulb, ruminate on whether or not Tom Edison stole the idea for the light bulb (it may be old light, but it's new light to its generation), reminisce about all the times they saw the "Changed" video,

and then have an "uh-oh" moment when you wonder, Do I need to..."change"?

    :biglaugh:

  11. You mean to tell us that you've never seen the infamous pic of Paris Hilton getting out of a car while wearing a skirt and going "commando?" If you search google images, it'll probably be easy to find...

I thought that was Britney's picture. Of course, I could be wrong; I didn't get a clear face shot. Everything was kinda fuzzy as my glasses had just melted. :biglaugh:

  12. Maybe the Europeans simply resent the condescending attitudes from the superior, know-how-to-do-everything-better-than-you Americans. There's no longer a strong, central MOG figure to wrap the Way organization around and, without that, they may not feel they need "direction" from a little town in Ohio. They might feel they can lead their own lives and Christian service.

That, and Americans are not generally well-received outside of America at this time. For various reasons.

    :wink2:
