  1. Raf,

Same purpose as a colon. To get rid of things the body no longer has any use for. What comes out of there may not smell too good, but it's a good thing you're getting rid of it, even if it means you have to put up with the smell every now and then.
But even the smell has a purpose, as it's good for clearing a room. :)

    "All things work together..." :D

    Mark,

Do any of you find it interesting that Jesus Christ is not mentioned here?

From reading CK's other posts, I simply assumed that neither Jesus Christ's life nor ministry nor beliefs formed a part of his personal values. Not a criticism, just an observation.

    Mstar,

and yes Mark I do find it interesting on a lot of levels-It is very Wierwillian. " It fits ..... .. o no... help...I cant stop.....like a hand in a glove...."

To be truly Wierwillian, it would have to fit like "a head gasket on a hot rod."

  2. And oh yeah, he once ordered me not to post here, "in the name of Jesus Christ." Oopsie, I'm still here!

"But...but...but...I've said the magical incantation! How can Shaz still post here?!"

It's in the way you wave the bible when you say it. You know, just swish and flick.:biglaugh:

  3. For OJ Simpson (and all the other pondscumsucking smug arrogant sons of leeches who brag about "getting away with it"), I would happily revoke the "double-jeopardy" law, and pay to see them rotating on a spit over an open fire.

Then again, on my more charitable days, I'd bring back the stocks and stick them in there for a long time, while inviting the public to give them a public flogging.

No, not flogging. A $ $ kicking. As many times as you like.

Of course, the "Real Me ™" argues he will someday get his day in God's Court; and it ain't gonna be pretty - none of this, "If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!", 'cause God will say "Bull$ h ! t."

  4. i never liked the term "wow vet" nor wierwille's schpeel about sacrificing / staying out on the field instead of being with family, also terms like enemy lines, crack troops, etc. etc., all those comparisons to our war vets

    i just didn't like it, that's me

    (((excie)))

I prefer the term, "WOW Survivor". :wink2:

  5. The song lyrics and music "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" were written by Helen Howarth Lemmel on or around 1922.

A little background information (scroll down to about the middle of the page)

    The lyrics are:

O soul, are you weary and troubled?

No light in the darkness you see?

There's a light for a look at the Saviour,

And life more abundant and free!

    Turn your eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face,

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

In the light of His glory and grace.

    Through death into life everlasting,

    He passed, and we follow Him there;

Over us sin no more hath dominion,

For more than conquerors we are!

    His Word shall not fail you He promised;

Believe Him, and all will be well:

Then go to a world that is dying,

    His perfect salvation to tell!

I remember hearing this sung on one of the old Sunday Night Service tapes. I forget the name of the woman who was singing, but I remember Mr. Wierwille joined her on the last chorus. Maybe this was a favorite of his, and perhaps that's why Mr. Geer chose the title.

  6. Neither do I, Hopefull. I would hope that at this point in his life, he realizes there are fewer days ahead than there are behind, and, if he wants to do some good in this world, it has to be now.

Many people were caused shame, hurt and defamation at the hands of this man. His life has caused indelible pain to many.

The least he could do is apologize, regardless of how it is received.

    The very least.

  7. Birthdays at TWI HQ for me were hard. I HATED that I had to plan my own birthday party and treat my whole department to treats I made myself. That whole BS about giving on your birthday WASN'T OUR FRIKKIN' CULTURE.

I also am sorry you were made to do that. As those hypocrites taught us, giving was supposed to be without compunction, not forced but of your own free will - just because you wanted to give.

Yeah, the giving presents on your own birthday thing is not a part of our current culture. Forced to plan your own birthday party? Just absolutely inconsiderate and rude.

But, Mr. Martindale, since it was your birthday, and since you espouse Word in culture and immutible biblical truths and principles, how about you give us a gift for your birthday.

    How's about, oh let's say.....an apology.

    Oh, and...happy birthday.

  8. ...I have to remind myself constantly though not to sweat the small stuff because I don't have leadership breathing down my neck anymore.

Just remember - don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things. :)

You'll do fine, potahto. No worries.

  9. Rick Warren is more subtle, and his references to health versus disease cloak his hostility toward "unhealthy" members who resist his agenda. In The Purpose Driven Church, he writes:

"When a human body is out of balance we call that disease.... Likewise, when the body of Christ becomes unbalanced, disease occurs.... Health will occur only when everything is brought back into balance. The task of church leadership is to discover and remove growth-restricting diseases and barriers so that natural, normal growth can occur

Sounds like another egotist trying to tell Christ how he should manage his Body.

I would hate to think Mr. Warren is comparing people who don't think the way he does to "growth-restricting diseases and barriers."

I also don't think it's the job of apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists, teachers and other "leadership" to "neutralize" members of the Body of Christ; you know, those insignificant, pesky nobodies who were called by God before the foundations of the world.

I don't know; maybe it's just a bad metaphor on Mr. Warren's part and that's not really what he was implying.

I just distrust anyone anymore who promotes, "this is what God wants you to do with your life, and you'll be screwed if you don't do it."

But if his "purpose" really is to build himself up as a personality icon, then I would have to ask:

How long until he needs a bus driver for his purpose-driven life?

  10. Referring to the Way as "THE MINISTRY" (you could actually hear those words in capital letters sometimes) as though there were no other ministries. Of course, according to the Way, there aren't any other true ministries of God. <_<

Referring to Victor Wierwille as "The Doctor", or just simply, "Doctor". Infuriating when you consider he got his "doctorate" from a non-accredited "seminary" run out of someone's house. And this "seminary" is so well thought of and recognized for its unique approach to Christian acedemia that it's the talk of the theological world.

    Not.

    Not even in existence anymore.

I mean, for cripes sake, Don Wierwille had an actual earned doctorate from an accredited institution. Did anybody ever refer to him as "Doctor" Wierwille without a nervous giggle, as though they were somehow blaspheming the holy name of the "real Doctor" Wierwille?

  11. And Kevlar, :biglaugh::biglaugh: That reminds me of when VP came to Baltimore to visit all the area wows in January of that year, each family was told to make posters to bless the mog. The night before the meeting, the family coordinator and I got slap-happy from staying up so late working on them. We made one that said "Bless Your Friggin' Heart", but we didn't have the nerve to show it.We sure laughed our a$$es off though.

Tonto, I sent you a PM; I think we may know each other. :)

  12. I'm having severe WOW flashbacks looking at this! :biglaugh:

We were supposed to make posters illustrating the WOW principles for a Limb or Branch meeting. We chose "Keep your marital status the same throughout the year" (or however it was phrased).

My family co-ordinator (God rest his soul) drew one of these amorphous blob-like WOWsers sitting on a block of ice with a $**t-eating grin on his face.

    It was not well-received. :wink2:
