  1. Yeah, you got a good game to be at... maddening/saddening for me however. Do you get the feeling that Vin perhaps wouldn't know what to do with himself if he didn't have ball games to call? I only mean that figuratively, as I'm sure he could find all sorts of things to do... but if baseball season was on and he wasn't there, perhaps he'd feel as lost as other Los Angelenos' baseball fans.
  2. If Fox was presenting a NEWS item about TWI, they probably would (I don't know enough about them to know with any degree of certainty). But since it's a BOOK promo, no such need for alternative view is necessary. Anyone with a DVR can set it up to record it... which, since it will be on at 5:40 am, MST, I must do in order to catch it.
  3. Perhaps better news for the Dodgers than simply taking over first place in the NLWest, news reports now say that Vin Scully will return for his 60th season (2009) broadcasting games for the LA team.
  4. This is true, not necessarily in a literal sense, because they've had some pretty lousy times... but for this year, they looked REALLY bad.
  5. long ago... the game was insufferable.
  6. Pardon me while I grumble (and complain)... Dbacks at the Dodgers tonight, on ESPN in HD. However, that game is NOT available on ESPN in MY area. Hence, I'm left to endure it on Fox Sports Net, LOW definition. And FSNs LOW definition SUCKS.
  7. That's possibly because official scorers generally give the pitcher -- from a fielding perspective -- the benefit of the doubt that it would be very difficult to make plays like that because of how they come off the mound on follow through after releasing the ball. If Greg Maddux was the standard, they'd have given CC the error, BUT... just like you can't assume a double play (and therefore errors are not generally given when the pivot man, be it the SS or 2nd baseman, bobbles instead of making a clean relay throw), you can't assume all pitchers field as well as Maddux. Btw, Dbacks had another bottom of the 9th comeback win against the Cardinals today. It was VERY exciting. I'm glad I recorded the game... :) Stephen (I hit for the cycle on Monday) Drew led off the bottom of the inning with a triple (on a magnificient at bat, going from 0-2 to 3-2 and fouling off several more pitches). Eckstein made an out, Conor Jackson singled scoring Drew with the tying run. Next batter -- Big Adam Dunn doubled scoring Jackson from first with only one out. Big series this weekend with Hiway's Trolley Dodgers... starting Friday.
  8. Nice idea for your personal mental health... but very much a BAD idea for you to put it on his voice mail at ANY time. VERY BAD idea... WILL cause far more headaches for you and your boss... and could (almost certainly, eventually, if not sooner WOULD) get YOU fired even though your boss is probably going to win... I STRONGLY advise you to NOT publish or record YOUR voice ANYWHERE at any time with ANY kind of follow up to this. You WILL regret doing so, if you follow through on your idea.
  9. If he regroups and regains his composure to win another couple, it will be a lock.
  10. I dunno... he's probably too expensive for them Dodgers... hehehe... (I hope)... btw, first pitch in two minutes (Dbacks/Cards).
  11. Supercharge your metabolism Some of this (much) has been discussed on this thread already... it's simply put, slightly differently in this article.
  12. Technically, Beltre's was the second of the day... therefore, semantically, your sentence might more correctly read "Then THIS makes two cycles today... Beltre (so far) has gone 5 for 5 and hit for the cycle here as well..." Okay, you can slap me now.
  13. Dbacks finish the game with the win.
  14. Game not finished yet, but Dbacks have come back from a 5-1 deficit to now lead 8-6 going into the top of the 9th against Pujols and the Cardinales... Dbacks' SS Stephen Drew has gone 5 for 5, hit for the cycle with an extra double thrown in for good measure.
  15. Hey Phil, I don't understand your use of the word "cosmology." Even metaphysical cosmology is not necessarily about the spirit world. from: Wikipedia article on Cosmology Between the domains of religion and science, stands the philosophical perspective of metaphysical cosmology. This ancient field of study seeks to draw intuitive conclusions about the nature of the universe, man, god and/or their relationships based on the extension of some set of presumed facts borrowed from spiritual experience and/or observation. But metaphysical cosmology has also been observed as the placing of man in the universe in relationship to all other entities. This is demonstrated by the observation made by Marcus Aurelius of a man's place in that relationship: " “He who does not know what the world is does not know where he is, and he who does not know for what purpose the world exists, does not know who he is, nor what the world is.” This is the purpose of the ancient metaphysical cosmology. However, Stoicism rejected Aristotle's theory of universals as being "in the things themselves," calling them "figments of the mind." Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy adopting the concept of universals as being "concepts," and therefore of the mind, and therefore controllable by free will. Thus, we get the analysis of Aurelius' that the nature of the universe is not from "intuition," but from a free-will, conceptual understanding of the nature of the universe. Cosmology is often an important aspect of the creation myths of religions that seek to explain the existence and nature of reality. In some cases, views about the creation (cosmogony) and destruction (eschatology) of the universe play a central role in shaping a framework of religious cosmology for understanding humanity's role in the universe. A more contemporary distinction between religion and philosophy, esoteric cosmology is distinguished from religion in its less tradition-bound construction and reliance on modern "intellectual understanding" rather than faith, and from philosophy in its emphasis on spirituality as a formative concept.
  16. That's not the first time Schilling's been involved in one of those... he had a no-hitter working in San Diego when he was with the Dbacks (I forget which year) and the Padres' catcher put down a bunt that NObody expected, so he got the single. Brenly called it chicken-sNit (with an H), but what can you do. Nobody bobbled the ball, however... and the Dbacks still won that game.
  17. Oh come on Simon... you and I have talked about this kind of thing before. Pitchers are typically given the benefit of the doubt in fielding decisions like that... from a fielding perspective that is... it makes perfect sense to me why it should have been ruled a hit. And Sabathia is okay with the ruling... it's Ned Yost that was whining about it... and Joe Morgan and Jon Miller complained about it several times... It was a hit as far as I'm concerned. With the CF the official scorer has more of a judgment call... however, the pitcher getting bent out of shape about it probably wasn't his best move, especially if it took him a while to regain his composure.
  18. Bless your heart (and your physical and emotional health all around)! If you can do that without getting burned out, you will add sooooooooo much to the world and to the lives of those girls. Volunteering at the child crisis shelter, for me is tremendously rewarding... but I only can take one day a week and that's with preschoolers... teen girls are as challenging as life gets. Bless you, bless you, bless you!!! and bless you again. and btw, what you alluded to at the start of your post (the one this afternoon) is ALSO a key coping mechanism for dealing with stress!!! And don't you forget it! :)
  19. Speaking of Pedroia, the Dbacks picked up a used model of the same player today... they got Eckstein!!! That came as quite a surprise to me... I hope he still has plenty of spark and plenty of hustle left in him.

    Can I share?

Made YOUR day? That little gal will remember this ALL of her life!
  21. Glad to be of service... you and I are sooooooo alike in many ways...
  22. But then, so should the Dbacks...
  23. Sleep is number one. Do NOT let yourself become sleep deprived. Sleep deprivation will aggrevate every potential problem you face, most significantly, your physical and emotional health. Exercise is also fundamental. At minimum, find time for walking. There are plenty of other possibilities, but those two things are essential.

    Casey Anthony

Yes, but she was out on bail for the charges related to her daughter's disappearance. She was rearrested on the fraud related charges... indeed, locked up for good... that's the idea of throwing away the key...I think!
  25. What does it make my if I don't believe you?
