  1. I have been a rule breaker all my life. spent many hours in my bedroom growing up--I broke the rules often. (My parents sent me to my room which had a tv, stereo, and telephone!) If someone told me no, I did it anyway. Probably why I ended up not married with two kids! (not that I am complaining about that--I have 2 1/2 grandchildren and that is wonderful!) My basic tenet is--RULES SUCK! Kay Kay1952
  2. I generally don't watch sitcoms. I find them insulting. However; Drew Carey comes on just before Star Trek Voyager at midnight. We put it on and I found that it is just hilarious. Drew Carey would fit right in at my house, because that show is alot like home! ????????? Kay Kay1952
  3. I used my own name. If you look on my profile, it says Kay Burt, and that's me! Took me a long time to get to really like and love myself, and so using my real name is proof, (to me anyway), that I am 'real'. LOL, Kay! Kay1952
  4. Remember--ol Doc McCoy said Tribbles are born pregnant. While efficent for them, not for Klingons! From another Trekker Kay Kay1952
  5. I posted in another thread, (In Memoriam) about the feline in my life who allows us to pay rent so he has a home. His name is Turtle. He was born 24 hours after the first 4 kittens in his litter, he was the runt, scrawny had a belly button hernia, and his mother was the worst parent on the planet. When they were born she hid them in different corners of the house, wouldn't nurse them unless she was made to. We had to buy kitty formula and feed them with doll baby bottles and eyedroppers. Hence, all of them imprinted on us, and think they are human! We got the mom cat, (named Baby)spayed and sent her to a friends farm. The other kittens were given good homes but we kept Turtle. He had hip displasia and the vet didn't hold much hope that he would walk. Well, Turtle can walk, run, jump, and play like any other cat, just took him longer to learn. He is a joy and annoyance in my life. He is all black with yellow eyes and born on Halloween! Thanks be to God for pets! Kay Kay1952

    BEER

My father worked for Miller Brewing in Milwaukee for the better part of 20 years. I told my friends that buying Miller beer kept him in a job! Beer is not bad stuff, except in my opinion it tastes eichy! 24 hours=24 bottles of beer...great concept! Kay1952
  7. I am an X-Phile, a conspiracy theorist, and a person with a mind that questions EVERYTHING, sometimes with a compulsive slant. I ascribe to the thought that is propounded in 'Contact'--If we are 'alone' in the universe, it's an awful waste of space. Go figure! Kay1952
  8. Thanks for the thoughts and care! I appreciate it immensely. CFIDS and FMS are a pain, irritating, annoying, rotten, terrible at times, but... What I have learned wasn't all bad. I learned to walk with God by myself. It was just God and I for a long time. Now I have a wonderful husband; we have been friends for 12 years, together as a couple for 11, and legally married for 10 next month. I have learned to trust Tim as I do God and myself, and so being sick hasn't been all negative. Thanks for the information, tho. When I was just learning about CFIDS there were so many directions to go, it was hard to make sense of some of the information. I got involved with the WI CFIDS assoc and got answers and directions. I have had migraines since I was 9, which have decreased as I have gotten older. There are many medications that help that aren't narcotics. Imitrex is one of them, and when it works it is like a miracle of biblical magnitude. Unfortunately for me, it stopped working, fortunately now that I am in mentalpause (menopause)the migraines come less and less. There is a hormonal component to migraines. Look into that with your doctor, ok? Muchly love, Kay Kay1952
  9. Ok, I have heard of people with CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome) who had their mercury fillings removed and felt much better. I have heard of people who didn't and were in a full remission of symptoms. There are so many causes of CFIDS that it is oft impossible to determine the 'exact' cause. I believe my illness was triggered by several incidents ocurring at the same time. It took nearly two years before the symptoms became alarming instead of just irritating. For every individual there may be one trigger or many. Me? I have exactly 17 teeth in my mouth and none of them have any mercury fillings. Kay1952
  10. Being pro-active is absolutely vital when being treated for an upper respiratory infection or cancer or having to have a cut sutured up. I have two autoimmune illnesses, CFIDS and FMS. I became ill, and when my doctor offered me an anti depressant because 'women of a certain age' (read 50+) often feel 'ill' and 'depressed' because they aren't young anymore. I told my doctor of 12 years that he was full of horse manure, that I was truly ill and I was going to get to the bottom of it. Took me nearly 6 months to figure out what might be wrong, then another 6 months to find a doctor who didn't pat me on the hand complacently and tell me that I was just imagineing things! (GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR) I recently went to a dentist who told me that he didn't believe in either CFIDS or FMS, that they were simply 'trashcan diagnosis' that doctors hung on people who were just lazy and didn't want to work any more! (Yes $521 a month is much better than over $1000 a month!) (Took me 3 years of fighting to convince Social Security that I was truly ill!) All this stuff I mentioned above is leading to this-- THAT DOCTOR IS YOUR EMPLOYEE! HE/SHE ISN'T DOING YOU A PERSONAL FAVOR, OR A BOON, AND WHILE THEY MAY EXPECT THE LOWLY PATIENT TO KISS THEIR FEET, THEY ARE STILL YOUR EMPLOYEE! YOU PAY THEM TO TREAT YOU! Therefore you have the right to question his treatment plan, you have the right to research the subject, and you have the right to be an active partner in your treatment no matter what the illness. (GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR) Eating whole foods is important. We eat VERY lean, very little beef. We eat lots of chicken sans skin, fish--canned and fresh frozen, we check the sodium on everything we buy, we eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Very little sugar as well. I cook everything from scratch as then I know the amounts of salt etc. I drink gallons of water. I also drink green iced tea, because it tastes good and because there are antioxidents reputed to be in it. I don't believe that we eat as whole as we should, but any effort is a good start. 11. I do believe in some concepts that are relatively 'out there' reincarnation astrology, (NOT miss cleo, I have a friend who does this) celtic pagan beliefs really intrigue me.. the list is long and varied... My mother in law????? she is very difficult to deal with, she is paranoid to the extreme...blames her heart disease, arthritis, and my CFIDS and FMS on the fact that she has seen me in the craft with her... ?????????????????? Kay Kay1952
  12. This is not poking fun at my mother in law-- but-- she says she's been abducted for years... I never knew what to say... so I didn't say nothin'... She has detailed memories... ???????????????? Kay1952
  13. Thanks Zix, I wasn't sure about the spelling, just the pronounciation! TOS isn't my cup of tea, more my hubby Tim's. Kay Kay1952
  14. The Celiac, ( I think that's how it's spelled pronounces shell e ak) were aliens who were only minimally involved with the federation. The episode was Next Gen, and the Celiac had found a planet from which they wanted the 'infestation of humans' removed. Very 'law conscious' the agreement with the Federation was like a zillion pages long and very detailed, (sub clauses within sub clauses...on ad finitum) The inhabitants of this planet had adapted to a high level of some sort of radiation so Data was the only one who could go down to the planet. The Original Series had an episode called 'The Empath'. She wasn't a member of the crew, she was just a character who inter-reacted with Kirk and Bones. Hope that answers it! Anything else you need to know about ST let me know! Kay Kay1952
  15. I used to rush home from school to watch this drivel! Kay Kay1952
  16. I am a trekker. The original series was awful. Next Gen was pretty terrible too, till poor Gene Roddenberry left this mortal coil. Once Gene wasn't there, the show improved tremendously. Characters weren't cardboard, one dimentional, flat. The movies directed by Kirk, (oops Shatner)were just deplorable. The ones that weren't directed by him were good to great. As Scifi freaks, we watched the development of Next Gen. Flawed, less than perfect people walking through life doing the best they can with what they've got. I tell my brother that I think God had room in his heart for Klingons, Ferengi, and even the Celiac! He laughed! Me too! Still, TOS belongs on that list! Kay Kay1952
  17. Yes, we need mental health days. I think God expects us to take those vacations for our mental health. Machines run 24/7, but if we don't maintainance them they break! Why would it be different for people! Love, Kay Kay1952
  18. Nirvana Floy is what Mad Magazine in their parody called Troy! Yes, I have had people call Deanna Troi before! (There was an empath in ST:TOS too!) EEEGAD! Kay's a Trekker! (I should only look like Deanna! We may be the same height but there is far more of me than she! I weigh in at 260. My husband loves well upholstered women!) Chas--I am glad you finally got past the point of self condemnation regarding breast feeding. I have been a lactation counselor and the guilt that was laid on some of the women I worked with (NOT BY ME!) was enormous. I was a labor coach too, and the guilt that some women felt when their labors didn't go all 'natural' was enormous as well. Having a baby is tough enough without beating someone with the guilt stick! In 1975 I asked my tc about vaccinations and told her that no matter what twi believed about vaccinations, I was going to have my son inoculated. Tc said that God gave those inoculations so parents didn't have to believe for kids not to get polio, whooping cough, etc. Made sense to me! Steve: "To deny emotions is to say that God is an idiot" I wish I'd said that because it is perfectly true! Emotions are what make us real. I Love you guys! I can feel my heart growing with love for all of you! Muchly Loving, Kay Kay1952
  19. Thanks for telling us the truth! My relationship with husband #2 was this way, (no alcohol abuse tho)and he was a conservative Jew. You have my heart and caring. You are brave and an example to me! Love, Kay Kay1952
  20. I have been an empath all my life. Somebody's sad, I'm sad with them. Somebody's happy, I'm happy with them. Being that emotional has been both a blessing and a curse. People love to tell me their troubles, because I truly feel for them, and they know that. I never saw emotions were down played while I was active in twi. I got out in time apparently, many thanks to God for that. That means I feel the pain of those who are wounded here. I do, and pray for them mightly. I love them over the miles. There are good people out there. I know, I am one of them! Lovingly!!! Kay Kay1952
  21. ChipS, the routine about CA Hwy Patrol, VIP, any soap opera, any talk show, modern day cartoons, and Cops. Kay Kay1952
