  1. I know which band did this song, but I'm having trouble distinguishing which song this is, right now.
  2. Just so I can say I asked, "Godzilla"????

  4. "The class was NOT enough. Wierwille fabricated a story wherein God's audible voice told him to "teach the Word." " Naturally, when you took the actual class, the biggest claim he made in it is that this is the field to which he had dedicated his life. There's no mention of God talking to him audibly, no snow job, nothing. People taking pfal are still able to see the snare at that point, so he hid the trap better until later when people were lulled into a sense of security.
  5. I hate to be the one to break it to you, Mike, but..... you overrate your significance on this board. Things don't revolve around you, nor do we wish you'd suddenly start posting again when you take a break. This SHOULD be comforting- as in, there's less pressure to perform, but more likely, it's LESS comforting for someone who's still searching for converts to his belief system. BTW, being on the spectrum would remove a lot of the stigma of your refusal to converse in a civil manner like everyone else, since you might be unable to see the difference. That wouldn't be an "attack", it would partly excuse you for previous incidents.
  6. The original post for the thread was skyrider's, and that's someone else. Raf did post something around Dec 14. The divorce he mentioned there was sometime over 20 years ago. I'm sure he appreciates the pathos, but has seriously moved on with his life since then.
  7. There's always been a disconnect between the REALITY of twi and the CLAIMS of twi. IIRC, it was ROA 77 (but it could have been later) when vpw said they were going to take a list of all the verses that said that Jesus is the Son of God, and nail them to the doors of the local churches that afternoon (Sunday, at the close.) What happened? vpw went to each church door, without a list of any kind. He left a sign- "Jesus Christ-not God, never was, never will be!" and an autographed copy of "Jesus Christ is Not God." If there was any hope that discussion MIGHT have been sparked by the list, absolutely none was sparked by the antagonistic sign, and the autographed copy of the book was just ego-massage. None of that accomplished anything other than making vpw feel important.
  8. I don't think it's an example of that- I think it's en example of something else. I don't think twi is alone in trying to recapture "the glory years", especially as they're remembered but not as they actually were.
  9. Actually, you've done none of it of note the entire time you've been here. You've spent dozens of hours saying you had no time to do ANY of that here. You spent dozens of hours with vague promises that, if we did things your way, we'd see results- but we've pointed out repeatedly that you haven't given anyone ANY reason to think your methods yield anything useful. After that, you started over, and stayed vague. A few moments here and there, you did make a few minor claims- like about David and Bathsheba- and those points were completely refuted. In fact, on that one, I not only refuted you, but at the time, posted a prediction that you'd make the exact same refuted claim 6 months later. Six months later TO THE DAY, you reposted the same refuted claim. What you HAVE demonstrated is a facility to rewrite history in your own mind. You were completely refuted, and months later, you'd claim you refuted anything anyone else said. So, it should surprise nobody that you remember being clear, direct and specific when you actually were vague and coy virtually any time you were asked something. So, you may have done an abundance of that IN YOUR OWN MIND, but out here where the rest of us can see it and respond, no you did not. Then again, in your own mind, you can be always right, the better in any exchange, and so on. Out here, you risk getting refuted (again.)

  12. No, it is not. We are fine, but we were rushing to get the holiday prep done in time. We're fine, but taking it a little slow because it's the middle of Summer and we have a heat-wave this week. I'm glad some people headed for the coast because that means they're not going to be home cranking up their A/C and stressing the power grid alongside us.

  14. I don't have experience with this specific O/S. However, my general policy is to keep the computer's original O/S updated, and save the change of O/S for when I change PC's, and get the next version of Windows installed on a machine where it's supposed to work with everything that's installed, and with the hardware of that PC. And if we find out we can't use the old PC with its older Windows, that's a good time to install Ubuntu on it. We need one PC running Windows here, but the rest can manage with Linux. Most of their use would be a handful of programs, all of which Linux has a version. So, I'd keep my Windows 10 updated as long as possible if I were you.
  15. Is this a version of "ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU?"
  16. I'm probably going to catch up with "the Flash" (no pun intended) in January, with a long marathon of Flash episodes. The main question will be if the Mrs will catch up with me. (We used to watch "Arrow" and "Gotham" for a few years, but "LoT" and "Flash" for their entire runs until the covid interruption. )
  17. Since I had an older brother, I'm not sure what the first comic I ever read was- but I was VERY young when I read it, as in 3 1/2 or 4. He wasn't a JLA fan, so the first JLA comic I everread was JLA vol 1 #123. https://markperigard.com/2015/08/08/crisis-in-infinite-weirdness-when-the-jla-the-jsa-battled-their-creators/ https://brevoorthistoryofcomics.tumblr.com/post/153743268239/i-was-super-excited-when-my-subscription-copy-of Yes, the very first JLA comic I read, when very young, introduced the JLA, the JSA, Earth-1, Earth-2, and Earth=Prime. I was able to follow it, but with so little space to give the JLA'ers, their powers seemed a little vague. BTW, in the 2nd link, you see a fight between the JSA and some instant flower-attacker at a botanical garden. Wonder Woman and Johnny Thunder were attacked by a seed-pod that launched pit-sized seeds, Robin and WIldcat were attacked by strangling roots, and Hourman and Dr Mid-nite were Venus Fly=trapped. Wonder Woman's standard bullets-and-bracelets routine blocked the pits, but Johnny was clocked in the jaw and in too much pain to pronounce his magic word. Robin used a portable micro-torch (IIRC) to burn off the roots, while Wildcat karate-chopped them. (When did the heavyweight prizefighting boxer learn to throw karate-chops?) But Dr Mid-Nite's blackout bomb was probably most useful, since the plant couldn't recharge with sunlight, so Hourman could overpower the jaws, and the others were able to win against their threats. (IIRC, it was all 1 plant.) With that as my introduction, I really think new readers can learn to pick up and follow the stories, provided there's a decent recap for what's necessary (like explaining the JLA is on Earth-1, the JSA is in Earth-2, and we're on Earth-Prime where both are just comic books.)
  18. "Well, if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand."
  19. That all sounds interesting, but I'd have to be more interested to want to sit down to watch it. I might have been interested if they included the old MLJ superheroes somewhere, but the only one they included was the Black Hood, and instead of a detective/hero, they made him a serial killer or something. I'm interested enough to read your description, but that's it.

  21. Just because Branham is a cipher NOW doesn't mean he wasn't a big deal ONCE. He seems to have had his 15 minutes of fame. We've discussed him before, also. https://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/topic/15152-did-they-really-believe-it/page/2/#comment-360752 https://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/topic/8171-wierwille-jonestown-totalitarian-cults/page/3/#comment-200157 https://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/topic/7914-sit-rightly-divided/page/5/#comment-192854 https://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/topic/5186-biblical-universalism/page/14/#comment-134550 https://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/topic/5089-did-vpw-plagiarize-jcing/#comment-52991 https://www.greasespotcafe.com/ipb/topic/371-web-page-with-all-the-facts/#comment-52466 Some of those are threads where he was discussed for a bit, not just in a single post.
