  1. Oddly enough, NO. I named ALMOST all the big names in this movie, IMHO.
  2. There's a claim that, if you put a frog in a pot, and heat the water very, very slowly, the frog won't notice the water getting hot and will boil to death. (Real frogs will actually notice and jump out.) The figurative meaning is that people won't notice big changes if they changes are done very slowly. A long time ago in twi history, the hippies were the ones doing all the work on the field. All the people they spoke to, and themselves, made parts of twi very happy places to be. That lasted until vpw infected those areas with his practices. The hippies spread the Christian message and healthy practices. vpw acted as an opportunistic fungus that lived off those people and siphoned health off of them. AFTER vpw, the fun leeched away to what degree his influence was allowed directly. In NYC, the worst of it often didn't hit the field, which is why there was so much growth there for a time. That even lasted- partly through inertia- through the 80s and lcm's fog years. When lcm drew his line in the sand and demanded an oath of loyalty to him PERSONALLY to "follow him BLINDLY" 4/5 of twi jumped ship. The remaining 20% got MORE legalistic and LESS fun, and that kept continuing as trends. Right now, twi's basically got legalism and a PRETENSE at fun, but nobody IN twi anymore knows how to have fun! Oh, a few of the kids may have picked up something from outsiders, but they're deluded into thinking they have a VOICE in twi. Nobody's allowed to hand them the microphone, let alone make a policy no matter how brief. So, the Way Disciple years were a lot more cheerless than the horror stories of WOWs that come through here, and that's why.
  3. The ROA was primarily about welcoming back the returning WOW's. That's why they had "WOW Festivals" on other continents to welcome them back. That having been said, I'm sure it was obvious from early on that the ROA served both to increase group cohesion, and to serve as yet another revenue stream for twi. After all, all food was paid for with RETAIL prices, and all the workers were volunteers working for FREE. So, everything above cost went to twi's coffers. The bookstore, of course, did very, very well during the ROAs. So, the first few ROAs were at campsites, but were hosted at HQ as soon as they could figure out the details. That helped twi's bottom line. Furthermore, it was a chance for the people at HQ to get their messages more directly to people and make them look more lockstep. So, win-win for twi.l Naturally, lcm did away with the ROA while he was otherwise driving twi directly into a ditch. I can't think of one decision of his that actually benefited twi in the long run. The arguable exception was charging all the grads to retake everything, but since they had to push a cheaper, inferior version of the classes, I don't call that a long-term win but a short windfall.
  4. Whether it was classes, Sunday Night Teachings, or the main stage of the ROA, vpw always sought to be the biggest deal around. When people got to talking about how this one expert on hunting and stuff was excellent at hunting, vpw couldn't stand someone getting more credit than him, even if it was something about which he was incompetent. When he overheard that people were saying the guy could stalk and catch anything without it hearing him, vpw went on the microphone (at lunch) and asked, with a skeptical voice, if people really thought the guy could sneak up on him. When asked later, he clarified that he meant that God Almighty would tell him if someone was sneaking up on him. But vpw couldn't stand the guy getting a compliment, even if it was about what he was supposed to be teaching them.
  5. Sherman Hemsley Arte Johnson Isabel Sanford Richard Benjamin Dick Shawn Susan St-James
  6. Sometimes I open another tab in Firefox, and am able to save that one, and sometimes that one behaves the same. The convenient thing is that the site saves the content of the "unsaved" post so I can call it up from the new tab and click "save." The only question is if it will officially "save" or hang there "saving."
  7. That's it. The previous list reminded me a little of this one.
  8. Ok, name the actress. Sophie Donner Gwen Grayson Wendy Christensen Susan Taylor Heather Fitzgerald Lauryn Kirk
  9. Sherman Hemsley Arte Johnson Isabel Sanford
  10. "I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, @$$-kickers, $h1t-kickers and Methodists."
  11. the Godfather Part 3 Bridget Fonda Doc Hollywood
  12. The last 2 nights, I pretty much wasn´t able to post anything.
  13. Caitlin Snow (if I have the spelling right) is Danielle Panabaker's role. (Unless you count "Killer Frost", which should also count.) She was also the plant chick in "Sky High", right? *checks* "Layla Williams" was right in your list. I can never remember her name....
  14. The 2nd and 3rd movies there, IIRC, included JIM CARREY.
  15. "...you hit the nail on the head citing vpw and lcm as your examples to follow...they knew nothing about inspiring others to follow – but they sure knew how to demand folks follow them...that may work as a role model in the military but that's not how you motivate people in the business world or in religious and social settings..." Actually, that's not how it works in the military with the POSSIBLE BRIEF time in Boot Camp. vpw used that as an example- but he had no experience with the military, neither direct nor through family members in the military. So, his total exposure to the military was how movies depicted the military- and that didn't reflect reality. lcm used vpw's example, and used the partial example of coaches who yelled at him in modeling his own behavior. Outside of training a sports team, that doesn't work, either- and there's plenty of examples of people who thought you could take "jock ethics" (from colleges that allowed their winning athletes to get away with a lot) into real life and got into a lot of trouble.
  16. I still haven't seen the whole thing yet but... " BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY???"
  17. Next movie. Chadwick Boseman Paul Rudd Elizabeth Olsen
  18. Mars Attacks Danny DeVito Batman Returns
  19. The father's deaf, but can read lips and sign language. The slang is British or some dialect (Australian, New Zealander). The daughter's boyfriend (or equivalent) just celebrated a birthday, and Dad got him a cake, or made him a cake. Ok, I'm going to discard all that and take a wild guess instead. Is this "SILENCE OF THE HAMS"???
  20. So, let's see..... lcm declared there was a new Advanced Class, and now your previous Advanced Class was voided, so now you had to pay AGAIN to take the NEW Advanced Class and find out how deficient lcm was when he made it. Then you had to pay for "Advanced Class Specials", which covered the SAME material but charged you AGAIN for them? twi is indeed a shameless money machine, with all the students as cash cows.
  21. Did you just want the name, or did you have another question(s) about it?
  22. "You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste. Good nutrition's given you some length of bone, but you're not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you? And that accent you've tried so desperately to shed; pure West Virginia."
