  1. Next episode. "Main Bridge." "Repeat command." "I said, Main Bridge." "The computer has been slow all morning. A processing accelerator is down."
  2. "You're a doctor, that's a patient!" I can name a FEW episodes of TOS. I know more names, but I can't always match the names to the episodes with those names. So I can actually guess a name with no memory of the episode. (Generally I don't guess them CORRECTLY when I do that.) If you want to brush up on your TOS, YouTube AND CBS.com both seem to have the series. http://www.cbs.com/classics/ http://www.youtube.com/show/startrek
  3. You're thinking of the autodestruct sequence during "When Silence Has Lease". With something like 10 seconds left on the countdown, the Captain and First Officer were shutting it down. "...Ten seconds to auto-destruct..." "Captain..." "Abort auto-destruct sequence." "Riker, William T., do you concur?" "Yes! Absolutely! I do indeed concur! Wholeheartedly!" "Auto-destruct canceled." "A simple 'yes' would have sufficed, Number One." "I didn't want there to be any chance of a misunderstanding." It was the "Wholeheartedly" that most of us remembered. :)
  4. Are you with me, Doctor Wu? Are you really just a shadow of the man that I once knew? Are you crazy, are you high, or just an ordinary guy? Have you done all that you could do? Are you with me Doctor....?" It was a little easier to remember the name because I saw a Doctor Wu's name once, and I kept humming the song whenever I saw it again. That, and someone made a fan-video for the Steely Dan song which was very good, and YouTube keeps deleting it. (Good thing I saved the video.) That was the first time I gave the lyrics a lot of attention. Then I had to look up which country uses piasters as a currency (or DID use it, as it turns out.)
  5. Luke 17 1Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! 2It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. Mark 9:41-42 (King James Version) 41For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. 42And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. Matthew 18:5-7 (King James Version) 5And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
  6. Hey, if Rosalie really believed her own line about this all being spiritual, then this would be one thing to "set the example" in and do herself. Then again, in the way international, it's standard procedure for the head honcho to order people to do as he says/she says, not as he does/she does. =============================== Matthew 23 1Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 2Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat: 3All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not. 4For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. 5But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. 11But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
  7. The thing is, if people are STUCK, it's ok to throw in A clue or A detail, but as it is, dumping the plot like that took all the accomplishment out of remembering the right one. BTW, I could have gotten it from Bones' comment about curing a rainy day. It's my favorite line from the entire original series. (I'm really not sharp on most of the original series, aka "TOS". However, a few posters here are...) Ok, the exchange about Dixieland was Riker and "Minuet", the holographic projection the Bynars used to keep him on the ship but in the holodeck so he couldn't stop them. Was I the only person who thought that Starbase guy was meant to look related to Picard? Or to Sean Connery? Or both? This was the episode fans call "Binary" because we can't remember the exact order of the ones and zeroes. The official title is something like "11001001". I'd check, but I'm not allowed to look it up when guessing.
  8. Let's see... Lucy Ricardo, Ricky, yeah, close enough. You needed to just name the series, the show, and that's specific enough. (Only one show had Lucy RICARDO, and had Ricky, more or less.) BTW, like the rest of "Name That TV Show", I actually quoted a few different episodes. I shall identify them. Oh, and yes, it's your turn now. "Wikiquote" will help if you're absolutely stumped for ideas. That's all of them. I hope that brought back a funny memory somewhere. Your turn!
  9. " 'El Breako the Leaso'?" "Introducing Rhea, the Medium. Well done, Medium Rhea!" "I got the golbloots from a booshoo bird?!" "We may have to remove her Zorch." "How can you sell meat so cheap?" "I'm glad you asked that. We rope, we brand, we butcher. We do everything but eat it for you." "What do you know about rice?" "Well, I had it thrown at me on one of the darkest days in my life." "It's going to be called "Bitter Grapes." I wonder what part they want me for." "Oh, you're probably going to be one of the bunch."
  10. I think he did a cartoon series. This is not it, however.
  11. I remember Worf saying that to Riker when Worf was off playing Parisses Squares and promising to win. I don't remember which episode the exchange came from, but I remember the exchange.
  12. " 'El Breako the Leaso'?" "Introducing Rhea, the Medium. Well done, Medium Rhea!" "I got the golbloots from a booshoo bird?!" "We may have to remove her Zorch."
  13. Looks like you missed my "Wonderland" threads. "the way:living in wonderland" examined the book "the Way:Living in Love", and had some interesting discussions, and includes a quote from J1m D00p where this was said. "vp and me in Wonderland" examined lcm's book "vp and me" and we looked into lcm and vpw a lot more when the cameras weren't running. We had some fun with those threads, and frankly, I'm pretty proud of them.
  14. BTW, everything I just posted was posted here previously by others. If you get curious, feel free to do a search for lengthier posts by others who explained in lots more detail, and eyewitness accounts and so on.
  15. For those who are unclear about this, all the sex stuff started with victor paul wierwille. Not only did he rape, molest, and drug lots of Christian women after telling them it was their duty and privilege to "bless" him sexually, but he taught others-including l craig martindale- to be twofold the child of hell that he himself was. vpw was the one who taught lcm all this. lcm was an unimaginative Christian jock in college when vpw found him and indoctrinated him. Dot Matrix "Posted 20 November 2003 - 10:38 AM I heard from, I believe it was a shy poster here - years ago, who was friendly with DM, that DM serviced VPW regularly. And that LCM was not in favor of the "screw everything that moves" policy. He was a country church boy who thought that was not right. But VPW told him he could not serve God unless he learned how to sexually service the women in the body of Christ. So, he got into it. So, probably it was in obedience to VPW the moggie. Isn't that where it all started if you trace it back as if you are tracing a transmittable disease? IMO" ex cathedra "Posted 22 December 2005 - 07:44 PM i heard from martindale's own mouth that veepee told him he needed to loosen up in that area if he was gonna' be a great for god. something like that.." DontWorryBeHappy Posted 17 December 2007 - 09:52 PM "my "corps assignment" at that time, placed me in the position of having daily, one-on-one as well as group meetings with the bot during those months. i say unfortunately, because, due to that daily, firsthand contact with those men and other "top leadership" at hq at the time, i was forced to deal with the firsthand acconts of many victims of sexual and "spiritual" abuse perpetrated against those victims not only by the then twi bot and other twi "top leadership", but also many who had been sexually and "spiritually" abused by vpw himself...... women, who were only then, after vpw's death, able to begin voicing what they had suffered at his hands. These victims' firsthand accounts were often horribly gut-wrenching, and the psychoemotional and "spiritual" damage done to them caused multiple and varied responses. Some were able to obtain closure by sharing what had happened to them with me,.....knowing that i had access to the bot, and that i would confront the individual offenders directly and personally on the behalf of their victims, and report back immediately, their response. A very few were afforded the "luxury" of a face-to-face meeting with their abusers.......the vast majority were not! For some, the damage and hurt was so profound, that they required professional psychiatric help and medication in order ro help them cope with the aftermath of what they had experienced. A few required hospitalization.......and, several, unfortunately, committed suicide! As i said, the horror of what these victims had experienced at the hands of vpw, lcm, and other "top twi leadership" was one of the most difficult things i ever had to deal with, as i tried desperately to help them. Thankfully, there were a few corps grads (dr.s. leven, dr. m. carli, and a few others), who were professionally trained and able to help me with what rapidly became an overwhelming number of "cases" of this abuse. Let me make it perfectly clear, that, NEVER ONCE DID VPW, LCM, OR ANY OF THE OTHERS I PERSONALLY CONFRONTED ABOUT SPECIFIC, INDIVIDUAL CASES THEY WERE EACH PERSONALLY INVOLVED IN, EVER DENY THEIR GUILT! Some even haughtily admitted to their misdeeds, stating unabashedly that God had absolutely "no problem" with what they had done, other than my "rabid legalism" which would cause us to "lose the ministry'!! Of course, there were numerous excuses, twisted scriptures and doctines, and vicious personal attacks against the victims (and me), that these lying hypocrites came up with to try and justify or legitimize their actions.......but, NEVER A DENIAL! One time, in the early summer of 1984, when i was on vpw's motorcoach in the "courtyard", i confronted vpw with a specific "report" from one of his many victims. after i had presented him with the facts, his only response was "Son, there are just some things i choose not to discuss with people"! That was it! As i sat there in stunned silence, watching him smoke his cigarette, he sicked his guard dog TJ, on me........calling the dog over to sit at my feet, growling through bared teeth!......it was chris geer, who opened the motorcoach door from the outside where he was "standing guard", and called off the dog so i could get out! Another time, when i was confronting lcm in the "motorcycle shed" about his sexual abuse of 2 different in-residence corps women at that time, his response to me was "You need to back off, man! Dr. wierwille told me, that if i didn't loosen up in this category of life, I'd never be a great leader or lover of God's people"!! Again,....NO DENIAL!.......IN FACT, AN ADMISSION!..... with the excuse that it was a direct order from vp himself that started lcm off on his path of sexual predation and human destruction!"
  16. There were a LOT of good Christians who wanted to serve God who went into the Way Corps. There were a significant number of numbskulls who also went into the Way Corps. victor paul wierwille carefully selected his co-conspirators (who can keep their mouth shut?) and his victims (who won't run to the police?) That's one reason he never was charged with a crime when he was alive. So, some Way Corps never heard a single thing about this. Those of you who didn't, consider that the only form of real compliment vpw ever gave- he thought you were incapable of being corrupted. That having been said, a number of people WERE capable of being corrupted, and WERE corrupted. They did things like spy out vpw's victims, set up vpw's victims, and "exit-counsel" vpw's victims so they didn't go to the police. The mixed emotions a lot of us get from the Way Corps is that vpw meant it as a tool for control- and successfully used it as such to a greater or lesser degree. Some people to this day consider the Way Corps to have been nothing but positive and hide from what vpw used it for. THOSE are the people who give it the WORST name and THOSE are the people who have stirred up the strongest feelings about it.
  17. To say the least. You do know that victor paul wierwille specifically went to Haight-Ashbury and the House of Acts to recruit the hippies, right? And that even in his own book, he makes a special note about how they're more affectionate with each other? And that, when he went to recruit the hippies, vpw himself asked J1m D00p to DESCRIBE WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE AT AN ORGY? And then told J1m D00p- who had said he was glad to be DELIVERED from such things- that, according to victor paul wierwille, ORGIES ARE FINE WITH GOD?
  18. vpw was fond of all sorts of wild ideas. Part of the purpose of having a Board of Trustees, according to "Uncle Harry", was to curb in a few of the crazier ideas vpw had and rein him in on the crazy stuff. Among the crazy stuff that victor paul wierwille said that did get past was the idea that twi would allow people to build houses on-grounds to retire on, do all the construction work/pay all the construction work, all the furnishings, upgrades, etc, then live in them until they died, but that the way international would then get full ownership of the house. (That was one of his ideas for "the Sunset Corps". "The Sunset Corps" never got off the ground, possibly because few people were that stupid.) There was another idea about some new invention of a new type of snowmobile, then there was that idea he had about a restaurant.... and so on and so on. Few of his ideas were practical. The materials used to construct some of the buildings- like "the Corps Chalet" that lcm stole and called "the Presidents Home"- were completely wrong for the weather for Ohio, and lots of money went in to build them, then to rebuild them and try to mitigate the damage that would never have been there if vpw's plans were competent.
  19. " 'El Breako the Leaso'?" "Introducing Rhea, the Medium. Well done, Medium Rhea!"
  20. One of the ploys of those insufficiently schooled is to smear Darby by attributing to him positions he never took and doctrines he never agreed to- then blame him for disseminating them. Darby NEVER taught of a "pre-tribulation rapture." Disagree with a "pre-tribulation rapture" all you want, but spare Darby the consistent LIE that was invented by Dave McPherson and used in his hate-filled, anti-rapture CRUSADE. McPherson's life seems to be about attacking that position and using any tool- including lies and misinformation- to attack it. Chief among them is that Darby got this doctrine from a vision by Mc Donald, and that both taught a "pre-tribulation rapture." Neither John Darby nor McDonald taught either, and any person who can do an internet search on Margaret Mc Donald, and READ what her supposed vision was about. Whether it is a true vision or not, it never mentions a "pre-tribulation rapture." Mc Donald was specifically worried that the Church living at her time would be present on Earth through the Tribulation- and that they weren't READY to live through it. Why would a "pre-tribulation rapturist" be concerned that Christians would not be ready to live on Earth through a tribulation if they weren't even going to BE THERE? Believe what you want, teach what you want, but do not rely on MISINFORMATION to support your point. You're not McPherson. He attributed all sorts of things including his father's death to the doctrine of "pre-tribulation rapture". You need not take such a PERSONAL (and ridiculous) stance against a doctrine even if you think it's error.
  21. He WASN'T a farmer. When he was supposed to do chores on the farm, he ran off for long periods of time where no one could find him. His own father's reaction, when vpw said he wanted to be a preacher, was that he hadn't even learned how to work on the farm, so he wasn't ready to put in the real work of a preacher.
  22. Seems to me it depends on WHY they got involved and what they're doing. I've met a number of religious leaders I thought were eminently trustworthy- and still are- and Billy Graham, despite being very famous, went out of his way to avoid problems in that department, to the point of never being alone with any woman not his wife, not even for the minute it would take to ride an elevator with her.
  23. I saw MOST of those, and I have no doubts that "no taking notes during PFAL" was MANDATORY in some places, when and where I took it, it was recommended that NEW students NOT take notes in pfal THE FIRST TIME THEY SAT THROUGH THE CLASS. When I took it, I was a "professional student" who knew what worked for me best, so I had a Bible, syllabus, and notebook all on my lap. I juggled all 3 during the first segment, and shifted through them to take notes and follow along as if I did it all the time. At the end of the first segment, the class coordinator recommended I just take the notes direectly into the syllabus, which would free me from juggling a 3rd book. So I did. My continued note-taking helped me focus on the material. I wasn't the only "professional student" who put his notes there, either.
  24. Was that "headquarters" or the "Fine Art and Historical Center" that had it? IIRC, I saw it at the FA&HC. Then again, I saw it around 1988. If you saw it later, it may have been moved from the FA&HC to HQ when they sold the FA&HC. (Not that there was ever an announcement about the sale, but they've always been secretive about selling off properties.)
  25. Usually people will say "I'll be out of town, so anyone can take my turn" or something along those lines. In this particular case, if you're saying you want to take the next turn, go ahead, you can take mine. (If you don't post, I'll post eventually.)
