  1. I remember the tape he sent to all the Corps, about how we were all copped out, off the Word, in need of a total re-boot. It made me feel all condemned. And confused. How would he know? But I was still indoctrinated so I bought it.
  2. Be miserable because you have to "witness" all the time or feel guilty if you don't. Recruit recruit so you can bring in other people to be miserable like you. Yeah that works.
  3. Know what happened to those who became exwafers? LIFE happened. Oh yeah, we were sucked in via the promise of the more abundant LIFE. Guess we had to get out to live it.
  4. Oh well, at least I learned how to file things and floss my teeth.
  5. Dammit. I was trying to spell Mississippi. Which was where I was. The Branch leaders were telling some other leadership that were going to take over that they "didn't have this" their first year there - meaning the waiting on that they were receiving - implying that such servitude was their due. Their servants were apprentice Corps. Oh, the poor branch leaders, can you imagine that they might have to actually get their own ice tea and bring it to their guests??
  6. They kicked an old guy out of the ROA? Such love. Which reminds me of something my mother said about TWI: "For people who professed to love one another, they sure didn't act like it."
  7. VPW put down commentaries but weren't the Blue Book and the rest commentaries? How about the Way Mag and all its articles ABOUT the Word.......
  8. I remember a class coordinator during his opening shpeel stating that PFAL was God's epistle to the church today.
  9. The devil said to Adam and Eve, "Ye shall be as gods, not dorks."
  10. I remember doing "Little Bunny Foo Foo" at Way Family Camp. Didn't we do "Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes?" It's been so long.........
  11. I didn't mean that sarcastically. He really did make good wine.
  12. I worked at I-Hop with a 6th Corps woman who was a raving bitch. I prayed for a break from her and the next schedule had us not working together for a week.
  13. I remember when we all got lice. They poured kerosene on our heads, and we had to put all our bedding etc outside so the low temperature would kill the lice. Good times.
  14. That's a good observation. As a Corps Grad, I can identify with that. In my heart I wanted to let people grow at their own pace without interference but we were trained to make them tow the line as well as meddle with their lives.
  15. Said by Skyrider -"Perhaps....just perhaps, others might see the fun and want to join you?" That's so true. A non-Way guy I knew said "You never have any fun." A girl who took the class told me she didn't want to hang with us because TWI controlled everything we did. In other words, not much fun.
  16. euwwwww, what a perv. Little did I know.
  17. And don't forget the "love offerings" we gave to the leaders who already had house, car and salary provided for them.
  18. Yes, the guilt. Never living up to the 5 Way Corps Principles. Never pleasing those above you. Being subjected to being blamed for every bad thing that happens because "You're Corps." Getting yelled at because "You're Corps" and you should be spiritually able to take it. Good times.
  19. They have not ears to hear. Well said, though.
  20. Karl Kahler's book is good too. (The Cult that Snapped).Unfortunately he has no more copies. But he emailed me one but I'd have to contact him to ask if I can share it. As for off-shoots, I attend a home fellowship loosely associated with an off-shoot and we meet about every two weeks, if that much because we all have lives, and we purposely don't control each others' lives because of what we knew in TWI. We don't even have a "leader". Usually it's whoever's house it is at that meeting.
