This time of year student’s graduate from high school, and some of us receive graduation announcements from some of these students. I am curious what is considered the proper graduation gift. For example; the son of a good friend of mine is graduating this year. I gave him a card with $25.00 and a 2005 silver dollar (proof) from the U.S. mint. Is this about right for a gift? What do you usually give?

Some of the students in high school in this area are taking college level courses (and receiving college credit). It must be very difficult to set realistic challanges for children. If the challange is too low the child is bored and might not even try. If the challange is too high, the child might feel discouraged and feel defeated. From what I am understanding (and maybe I am missing the point somewhere)... 1. Most schools are doing the best that they can. 2. There should be a better student to teacher ratio. (schools are under staffed) 3. Teachers are frustrated and tired. 4. Classrooms aren't staffed to give attention to a child that is having issuses, and still teach the remaining children in the class room. As a result, teachers may promote the use of medications. Am I close?

Please excuse my ignorance for asking this question... I have noticed that we (the public in general) are expecting teachers (at all grade levels) to have a certain level of training/education/certification to teach and/or take care of children. Is the pay that educators receive in line with what we expect from them? What is the fair share of what should (and how much) should come from property taxes etc? What is a fair and convincing argument for raising taxes to fund activities such as sports, bands etc. When the students are not doing well in reading, writing, english and math? (this arguement should be made to adults that either have no childern or there children are all moved out.) (I understand that activities such as sports, band etc. are important.)

Part of human nature is to "wear" the "hat" that is given you. At first the "hat" might not be comfortable, and we might not even like the "hat", yet we wear it and grow into it. At some point in time, we might either take a look at that "hat" and get rid of it or exchange it for a different "hat". And sometimes, a "hat" is taken from us. A "hat" can be many different things and we can wear many "hats" at one time. Some hats are permanent while others are temporary. Permanent hats include (but not limited to) child parent sibling Temporary hats include (but not limited to) spouse (could also be permanent) jobs different aspects of our jobs friend religion politics student etc... And at one point in time we wore the "hat" of being involved with twi. And many of us have no longer have or want that "hat" again.

Signals, Not trying to split too many hairs here... What twi may be guilty of and what can be proven in a court of law may be two different things. As were a great many people, while I was in... I was completely ignorant of policy and/or practices that went on within the leader**** of twi. I think that it is an abomination what twi did with God's money. I was one of those people who believed that when I gave money, i was giving it to God and not to twi (again, this is what I thought back then). Maybe, this should go on the bitterness thread... For myself, I am trying to not let some of the things I did or were done to me in the past steal from the present or the future. Hopefully, I am wiser now than I was back then... Today, I am the sum and substance of all my experiences (good and bad) and decisions that I have made (good and bad). I want to learn from the past. But, not dwell on it too much.

I have to admit that I buy new shoes every 6 months (give or take). These are the shoes I play racquetball in. Old shoes are good for doing yard work in. Also, I have some clothes that I need to get rid of -->, however, that project is not high on my "things to do" priority list.

IMO, It takes alot of courage, hard work and perservince to file a civil suite against an organization such as twi. I would like the wish the Peelers the best of luck. It is my hope that justice is being served in these law suites.

I admit it... I have seen portions of dr phil. It's usually when I take my car in for some type of service. usually, there is somebody else in the waiting room. From the intent way that the other person is watching him, I don't suggest changing the channel (for fear of my life).

What Galen said is true. However, If someone were to join the Army, It would be in there best interest to be able to do 50 push ups, 50 situps, be able to run at least 3 miles and meet the height and weight standards before going to basic training.
