    Life is messy..

Ham, One thing that helps me is playing a competive sport. I enjoy going to tournaments to compete (most of the tournaments I go to are about 200 miles away). Playing a competive sport helps change the focus of your attention (even if for awhile), you interact with other people in a "fun" enviroment, and exercise is usually a good thing. I know people who are in there 70's who play racquetball every morning. And, my uncle plays basketball at lunch about 3 times a week. There might be a local gym and/or recreation center near you.
  3. Takit was my favorite group to listen to. I think that twi did have some very talanted musical people at one point in time.

    Goodbye Greasespot

Is it just me... Or, has anybody else notice this... That the majority of those who have a "farewell" thread, usually end up comeing back at some point in time... And those who simply "fade away" usually don't come back (except on rare occasions).
  6. Mike, Try taking deep breaths and exhaleing a few times... I think that somewhere in the Bible there is something about a merry heart? We might not all have the same sense of humor... But, it's nice to know that there are some among us that at least have a sense.
  7. I am sorry for your loss.

    God Bless Texas

IMO... It sounds like Texas found a use for looters... Target practice... I think that everone who owns a rifle or pistol should know how to use the weapon correctly. One of the "gun rules" I learned many years ago is... Don't point a weapon at somebody unless you are about to or are prepared to pull the trigger... I also learned that there is a difference between a rifle and a "gun". There is a little poem that was used to help teach the diffenence. The Guy reciting would be holding a rifle with his left hand and pointing with his right. The poem went something like this... This is my rifle (right hand points to rifle) this is my gun (right hand points to the guy's gun) this is for shooting (right hand points to rifle) this is for fun (right hand points to the guy's gun) Now does this (right hand points to rifle) look like this (right hand points to the guy's gun)
  11. Garth, I hope you have a fantastic Birthday!

    Chess

Three days to make a move Yahoo has a chess games that you can play for free. And you can set time limits :)--> Also, if you don't make a move in 10 min. you forfiet. I like games with either 10 or 15 min (on each side) time limit. Playing chess over the internet if good. However, playing somebody face to face is still my favorite way to play.

Bisbee, Sierra Vista, Huachuca City are in Cochise County. Sierra Vista is a "military town" however it's a small city. For some of my shopping, I go to Tucson or shop on the internet or catalogs...

    Out of Debt

IMO, Credit cards are like any tool, if used correctly, it is a great convience, if abused they can be be used to cause great harm. If I might offer some advice... Look at how much credit you have on each of your credit card. It could be possible that you have more "credit" than you need. I called the bank to lower my limit (in case of an emeregency, I could have it raised again). If possible, pay at least double (if not triple or higher) than the minimum payment. When making a credit card purchase have a plan to have that purchace paid off in no more than 3 months (unless the purchase is used for emergency repairs such as house or car). What is easier said than done is to live a lifestyle that you can afford. There are many qualified financial planners out there that can offer good advice. Oak and Wacky, Congrats on getting out of debt!! :)--> I am sure that it was not easy, It takes courage to make the commitment to get out of debt!
  18. Dori, Welcome to GS. I am sorry for the pain and suffering that you have endured in your life. It is good to hear that a healing process has begun for you. Enjoy your time here.

    How's your pantry?

IMO, anybody who goes out to get a pistol or rifle to protect there family, themselves and there property should take a course on how to safely handle the weapon. Sometimes emergencies bring out the best in people and sometimes they bring out the worst...
  23. I agree with long gone. Getting a listing of people in the shelters might not be the highest of priorities in the larger scheme of things. The main focus is on rescueing and taking care of survirors. I am sure that many admin. functions are on the "back burner".
  24. Katrina is now a cat 5. According to the predictions, it does not look good for New Orleans. The city of New Orleans could very easily become "lake" New Orleans. People there are allready leaving the city.
