  1. Love your enemies...bless them that persecute you...if you love only them that love you, what reward do you have? ...
  2. I thought that would be fairly easy. Go for it.
  3. Nope. True to my (limited) style, it is a fairly old movie...but I was old enough to see it and like it when it was released. Also very well known, with an unforgettable theme song. The line is at the end of the movie.
  4. The first line alone is not a reason to give this thread special attention (from so many others) IMO. That is, hearsay abounds on GS. The second line added to the first line is, and I think Paw puts it very well.
  5. Okay...I'll go ahead... "Oh no you dont.....this is no time to be rescued."

    Coffee

Just curious...how far back in history does coffee go?
  7. Finally....someone hit one of my favorites... Deep Impact. I like(d) that better than "Armageddon" which came out at about the same time. More dimensions to the story IMO.

    Coffee

Raf, I think you would have admired my mother. Always had to have her morning coffee. Always black. But I had to edit this post...couldn't leave coffee misspelled.
  9. Yea. I remember the Way Police that showed up in 1979.

    8th Corps

Maybe I can coax Hawk back in here.

    Coffee

If coffee disappeared from the face of the earth, I would probably be one of the few survivors.
  12. Raf, your opinion is valued...or maybe you just got too busy?
  13. MY Philly WOW year 1978-79 was pretty loose, when fellow 8th corps EW and I ran the WOW branch there, and 6tn/8th corps sisters CD & CD, who ran the non WOWs, complained to us about not dating them more. But then our 6th corps Limb Leaders, TW & MW were a pretty loose couple. Getting to HQ right after became somewhat less loose, of course, but we were still able to pull a nacho raid on the women in the Wierwille home.

    Coffee

I can't be objective here because I will defend my wife to the end...she is a big Decaf drinker.
  15. ROA 1976-79 represented quite a transition...from Sidney to HQ, from motel to tent on grounds to the corps tent, from Way Chorale Internationale to the C of E choir, from walking around and sitting down to working in the mess tent to mess tent shift coordinator, etc. At my last ROA I had a run in which is still interesting to me today; someone I knew of but had never talked to personally came up to me and struck up a talk. It wasnt what was said, but the soon to be common experience we had that made this meeting later stick in my mind.
  16. At Indy that year the medwow group and other associated medical people was big...bigger than the rest of us there I think.
  17. I thought this would fit here...not from me by the way... Application For Permission to Date My Daughter
  18. Yea, the even confirmed on a recent Zeta discussion that the 2006 list will be started with any storms that develop after the turn of the year.
  19. Yes, I remember my spur of the moment visit to HQ in March 1976, just happening to pick the weekend of the big meeting at Emporia...so HQ was relatively deserted and rather cozy. Friendly too I might add; no hint of suspicion even though I was for all practical purposes unknown. So Grouch...were you at Emporia then in the late fall of 1979 when we were given the "scoop" then that the country was falling apart? I was at HQ with VPW in front of us contacting someone who was presumably in the know about it, and letting us all hear the response.
  20. It is a "rebirth" accordning to the notice. I was wondering, since contributors are described as "current or former members", if there is anything from current members. For that matter, do we have any known current members on GS?
  21. Well, at least if there are any more new out of season surprises after midnight tomorrow night, they start anew with the regular 2006 list...so this should be the last Greek storm.
  22. Yea, and I'm enjoying it before I have to go back to SD.
  23. I saw the movie today. Though I never saw the musical on Broadway, it was about what I expected from knowing plenty about it. It was good, and Gary Beach was no surprise. As I watched it, I mentally tried to picture the show as a live production. Obviously, watching the live one would add an atmosphere that the movie can't. Thus I suspect there is a danger in doing what Mel Brooks did...even though the production was originally a film, it was the Broadway production which was pretty much transferred to film, right? But it seems it was a pretty good job. More obviously, someone who has seen it on Broadway and this film would have a better perspective. Raf, you there, and have you seen the film yet? Interestingly, this month's release is presumably limited, so I wonder how we rated it now in little (as far as numbers of people) old South Dakota? Ironically though, I saw it here in TX while we are visiting my wife's family. Raf, Raf, Raf, you around? Or is there anyone else who has seen both?
  24. I knew them pretty well at Indy. They ran one class that I went to at the Indy Way Home. I remember one time when they were singing at a bar and Greg was shrt 50 bucks he needed for something...I just happened to have it. He brought it back to me at my apartment the very next day. Plus lots of memories of their music.
  25. Maybe it was because the music was too creative. I wasn't around JN besides hearing their music like everyone else, but to me it was inspiring...maybe too focused on God for some leaders of later years. I did spend some time around Good Seed and know they came up with some good ones.
